I'm a bit nervous as I sold some Tommee Tippee nappy wrappers cassettes to a local woman, and said she could collect them from me. We've arranged a mutual place to meet, but I'm just a bit nervous! Dunno why, and it's not in case she's dodgy, I almost feel like I did when I met up with an online friend IRL for the first time. Weird!

I've never done it but I can't see that it any different from selling stuff in the paper where people come to collect. I also have people come to my house for stuff I give away on Freecycle. I'm sure all will be fine.

I've sold a few pushchairs and instead of posting them (fecking nightmare) i have put for collection only.

They always have my mobile number 1st and i have a chat to them. I have even delivered something out to someone by hand (a baby bath and box set) and they paid my petrol.

I'm sure it will be fine.

It was all fine in the end, and funnily, I've made a new friend!!  The girl was about my age, with a 4.5mth old, hadn't lived here very long and was finding it hard to make friends. We chatted for a while and got on really well, and I asked her if she fancied going for a coffee sometime, and she looked really pleased and said yes!

We bought a swimming floatie from ebay and arranged to collect it from their house - sent my husband and they just handed it over (after he'd been let in through their electric gates!). From a sellers pov, it's probably much easier as don't have to make trip to Post Office.
Try not to be worried - you don't need to let them in - just have it ready and hand straight over.

I sold some concert tickets to a guy once and he came and picked them up from my house as we were running out of time and his E-cheque had taken ages to go through. I then had to sit next to him at the concert knowing that he had paid double the face value of the tickets

This will probably be happening to me in September too, as I sold 2 spare Robbie tickets when my friend backed out, and I ended up getting £225 for 2 tickets!! Am kind of hoping the concert is moved to somewhere like Milton Keynes where it's all standing!!

The only time I've been a bit unhappy, was once when a guy just turned up on the doorstep as he was travelling from the South to Scotland. I can't remember why ithe item hadn't been posted - I think he'd asked us to wait until he was at home or something - and he just randomly turned up at 9am on a Sunday morning. I just felt totally unprepared for it, and that it was a bit intrusive.

Glad it went OK for you though.

I once sold something and the guy emailed me to say if he won the item could he collect it? We arranged a time convenient to me for him to pop around and he paid COD. I am currently bidding on a Little Tikes slide that if I win I will have to pick up but that is the point of large items. You buy local to save postage!

We actually dropped something off to someone once who had won our auction. We sold an old computer on Ebay and a young lad won it - he lived in Reading and we happened to be travelling down to Bluewater that weekend so we did a mini detour and dropped it at his house, he was ever so grateful!
