View Full Version : My MIL's found a lump
My MIL has found a lump. Its on her neck kind of behind her neck. Its apparently been there for 3 or 4 weeks but she did nothing about or and told nobody. One of her daughters has been stying with her this week with her grandkids as its half term here and she noticed it and made her go to the GP. This was on Wednesday. The GP took one look at it and made her go into hospital there and then - a 70 mile round trip. She saw a consultant and is booked in for a biopsy on it tomorrow morning at 10am.
I'm really worried because they've acted so quickly. She's supposed to be going on a 3-1/2 week holiday to Australia at the end of October and she reckons that they've bumped her up the queue because of this - but I'm not so sure.
DH is being very quiet about it all. His Dad (MIL's husband) died of cancer aged 48. I guess he's really worried too but scared to say anything.
I so hope she's OK. Not sure when she will get the results of tomorrows tests.
God C, I'm really sorry to hear that. I reckon they have'bumped her up' the queue because she's had the lump for a month and not spoken to anyone about it.
I hope it's nothing serious honey and just something like a build up of fluid :higgies:
:higgies: to you. If it's any consolation my mum recently had a bit of a "scare" and was seen within 24 hours, she was terrified at the speed and mentioned it to the doctor why they were rushing her through, and apparently it's all down to government targets.
Fingers crossed it's something and nothing :higgies:
Hope its nothing serious!!
Hope they are just being over cautious. I had a lump on my neck about a year ago and it turned out to be some kind of cyst.
Hopefully it will be a similar story with your MIL>
oh no sweetheart, am so sorry you are having this worry. a big hug for you and especially to your DH, he must be so scared. Hope it's nothing. Thinking of you all xxx
I hope it's nothing serious noo noo.
aww noo noo - after the good news about Iona you really dont need the worry love. I think that there are clinical guidelines that mean that she had to be referred swiflty and hopefully it'll all be okay :higgies:
Thanks everyone. I just feel like a weight has been lifted off our shoulders with Iona getting the all clear and now this
DH has been hiding in the garage all evening - I don't know what so say to him.
I so hope it is a harmless lump.
Awww NooNoo that is awful.:hug:to you all. I really really she gets positive news ASAP.
 Hope everything is alright, Noo Noo. It's good that they are acting quickly, whatever the outcome.

Oh NooNoo, it's one worry after another for you and your Dh isn't it? I'm so sorry that this is such a scary thing to go through but chances are it's just a cyst so please don't worry too much. Thinking of you :higgies:
oh noo noo! :higgies: to you and your family! I really hope its good news for your MIL. Will be thinking of you all and sending positive vibes your way!
 Hope it turns out to be nothing serious:higgies:
Hope its nothing serious. Hugs to you all.
Hope it turns out to be harmless noo noo.
Sending you and your family huge   Noo Noo
Jeez Noo noo :-( so so sorry to hear that. hope everything works out ok for her. Hugs and positive vibes your way sweetheart :hugs:
Hope it all works out okay. It is very common to get these things checked out quickly though just to be safe. When I had my first lumpectomy I saw the Doc on the Monday and by the following Monday had had it removed and it was benign, phew.
Let's hope it is the same for your Mil.
How are you all today noo noo, how's DH?
Just wanted to say I hope all goes well & thinking of you & your family.
:higgies: to you Noo Noo. I really hope all is well.
Hope everything's ok noo noo
I hope it doesn't turn out to be anything sinister :higgies:
 could be anything, cysts even, my mum had one and it was harmless. Hoping its nothing:hug:
sorry I am late to this.
:higgies: hope there's nothing to worry about. they do seem to act incredibly quickly with things like this, and probably quicker in light of her holiday.
Fingers crossed it will be ok - you know where we are if you need to vent.
Hope everything turns out to be okay hun,
((((Noo noo and family))))
MIL should get the results of the biopsy on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Fingers well and truly crossed sweetie. Keep us posted
Thinking of you and your Mum Noo Noo, hoping for good results on Tues/Wed let us know. xx
We're still no further on. She hasn't had results back on her biopsy yet but she has been given an appointment for a scan next Wednesday - the day before she is supposed to be going on holiday to Australia.  She doesn't know whether to bother packing or not.
Did she get the appt for the scan following the biopsy or before?
One of my lumps has been biopsied, ultrasound scanned and mammogrammed and after all that was glad to find out was a fibroid adenoma (benign)
