The kind you buy at the supermarket in a little pot - are they supposed to last and keep growing or do they always drop dead after a few days, because mine always do!?
Just wondering if they're no more economical than buying them cut? or if i'm doing something very wrong?
You can plant most in a tub outside this time of year. I've got basil/corriander/parsley and thyme in the garden at the minute - they were all once upon a time supermarket herbs.

So are they happier outside in bigger pots? i always plonked mine on the windowsil and they would be dead before I got to use them!
I have planters outside with all different herbs, had it years. Just get a cheap planter and herbs from garden centre as usually cheaper.

I've managed basil and coriander on a window ledge. In fact the coriander was almost too successful, it grew into giant plants then seeded itself which seemed to attract flies - put me off coriander for ages.
I live in a very cold, windy climate and have chives, parsley, rosemary and thyme growing happily in my tundra of a garden.

I've just plonked them in a large boule planter. I have a large rosemary bush in the garden.
I priced up the herbs at the garden centre and they were pretty expensive compared to supermarket herbs? Might have just been a pricey garden centre.
The main reason I put them outside was the fruit flies (I'm sure they come on the plant).
