I'm going to college in September to do an 'access course in higher education-nursing and midwifery' with the view to doing midwifery in September next year.

I'm to expect a phone call by the end of this week to confirm but i'm 98% sure I'm in as the tutor said to me 'you'll be fine, you won't need to worry'.

I'm also handing in my notice at work tomorrow :ellie: :woohoo:

I can't do a full time access course and a job that requires me there wed, thur and fri. :happyno: Going to do some part time care work to have a few pennies but I feel very excited.

Would also like to publicly thank stacey86 for having my boys for me today a LOT longer than originally anticipated :flowers:

Fantastic news! Well done! :cheer2:
I started to do a Midwifery degree 10 years ago and had to leave after 1 year for various reasons. I absolutely loved it and leaving is the biggest regret of my life. I'd love to be able to go back in a few years.

That's brilliant, well done!! I'm just coming to the end of the first year of my midwifery degree. It's the best thing I've ever done but also the hardest thing I've ever done with three young childen to make time for too. Mind you, the home birth I attended in the early hours of Monday morning was just the icing on the cake!! Go for it xxx

Not sure those of you that have seen my facebook but I've now emailed an independent midwife today to see if I can get to do some voluntary shadow work alongside her whilst I'm doing my course. How exciting!

Aw, that's exciting! :fingerscrossed: you get to do the work shadowing. I did some work experience (one week on a postnatal ward and one week with the community midwives) in June and it was fab. Still undecided as to whether I should apply to do my Midwifery next September or leave it another year...
