hi, does anyone have any recommendations for the above, in the UK?
It will be the first holiday with Thomas who is 17 weeks atm but we hope to go in about July - just dont know where and wonder where we will feel comfortable. - we normally go abroad too so going in the UK will be different for us too!

We are going camping (yes camping, albeit we are taking my mums caravan...) in Poole with Isabel, she will be just over 5 months.
We chose Poole because it is somewhere we go several times a year and therefore know the area really well. I think that goes a long way to feeling comfortable.
Are you looking to stay in a caravan, hotel, cottage?

When Em was 10months old, in the space of 2 weeks we went to centre parcs, and then to a static caravan in devon.
Centre parcs was a long weekend, and I really enjoyed it, really felt like we got away from it all and chilled out. We didn't spend a lot of extra on activites and took our own food as that was easiest for - we had a bbq one night.
Devon was also good, but we didn't get the weather, it rained loads. We ended up spending loads on entertainment - animal & farm parks - if we'd had good weather we could've had cheap days out walking/on the beach. The caravan was good though, I'd not been in one before. We had all the kitchen facilities we needed, Em had her own bedroom - we had the bathroom & central heating.
If I chose again I would go centre parcs, altho' Em was that tiny bit older which does make a big difference at that age - she could go in the bike trailer which I think is from 9months but my memory is poor!

We went to North Wales with Molly when she was 9 months. It was lovely. We stayed in a little fishing village called Borth y Gest in a cottage which was v reasonable.
It is a 10 min walk (with a buggy) around the bay to Porthmadog, which is more of a town with shops, pubs, restaurants. It also has a steam railway which we used to visit Portmeirion (bit of a trek from the station though).
DH knows the area very well having spent EVERY holiday for a about 10 years as a child in nearby Fairbourne, so we did lots of driving around and sight seeing.
It depends what you are looking for really, but the weather was perfect and we had a great time. It's a lovely age for a holiday when they are old enough to be interested in their surroundings, but still content to be in a buggy a lot of the time.

thanks for your replies - sorry didnt reply early, i couldnt log on here for a few days!!!
Yes it definatly makes a difference if you get the weather - last year we went to Devon for a week and it rained heavily every day, so i know what you mean Cheeky_Biscuit! - we then went to South of France that same year and have appalling weather again for a week LOL!
Sparkliness, that sounds nice, i like Wales and my uncle lives North Wales - we could visit him as i hardly ever see him! id also like to visit Portmeiron too, isnt it where they filmed "The Prisoner"?
