We are off on holiday in a months time, DS will be 71/2months. We cant take our pushchair as its heavy :( so we are looking to buy something to take that we can use in US thats light but durable.
Any recommendations please? :flowers:

We have an Obaby Escape for holidays and about town - it seems fine so far.
We didn't want to take our Stokke away with us either so we got a Lulu Guinness Maclaren Quest which I was really happy with :thumb:

We have a Baby Jogger City Mini as a second buggy. It's light, sturdy and has a fantastic hood for keeping the sun out of their eyes.
We did have a Petite Star Zia, which was also light and compact, but I sold it to by the city mini as I found it a bit flimsy.

Maclaren Quest...you cant beat it, reclines enough for a baby of that age too.

Thanks for the suggestions. Is any of those rear facing or higher seats?
I don't want to put him in a low seat yet as he's not used to it and he's still little.

Are you me?
Its sturdy enough for a small baby - you can buy the attachment to add a car seat but I expect he is a little big to be in that for any length of time.
The hood is amazing as it really covers them well

I had DD in a Quest at 4.5 months. Great for travel.

We got the Quest when we took daniel to Corfu and it has been great. Will be using it with ethan too when he's bigger. It's fine from about 6 months.
We got the Quest for a holiday when E was teh same age as yours. It was fine for the price (£125) but nothing on my Quinny. I researched high and low for a rear facing buggy - no joy :(
We looked at the baby city but not in our price range for a second buggy.
I'd get a carry bag as well as they really do throw them about at the airport - we had a cheap mothercare cover and it had holes in when we came back.

I think the Bee would be the lightest rear facing you could buy, but it's an insanely expensive purchase for holiday use.
At Ds age he's not at all too young for a stroller just for holiday. I'm not a fan of strollers or pushchairs but mine have used them on holiday from 4 months of age as long asthey had lie back.

What about a Loola or a Pliko? I took my Pliko on holiday to Ibiza and DS was nice and comfy with a good sunshade. It folds up relatively small and lays flat.

Compared to these ladies I know zilcho about buggys  but we bought an el cheapo Mothercare buggy and it seems perfectly fine . Bought it for one hol with Fin when I was flying and heavily preg for lots of slinging, and ended up using it a lot with both girls. It's been through three kids, two as main buggy, still going strong, not at all wobbly or flimsy even after years of use. It's basically this one, but I think we paid £20 instead of £30 back in the day ...

If its only for one holiday? And if it gets chucked about on the plane then you don't feel bad?
It reclines quite a way, perfectly good enough for naps  At I found at that sort of age they loved to go forward facing! :thumb:
Just a thought...

oh Gosh - the Pliko is very heavy. I certainly wouldn't get one for holiday use - although they are a great pram..
I'm another fan of the McLaren Quest. That's our second pram (was with Joseph as well) and I can't say enough about it.
It's not as good as the ICandy, which we still use rearward facing now, but it does the job for a lightweight durable buggy.
However if you really only want it for your hols Id be tempted to go for the Mothercare Jive.

Thanks for the replies so far :flowers:
Quick reply as child screaming..
Had a look at Jogger City Micro as we were in there - http://www.johnlewis.com/230824175/Product.aspx
and its good but expensive as we would only use it on hols and its big and heavy as well.
So we need a cheaper one, will look at your suggestion in a min.
Thanks

I love my petit star zia. It's been on numerous plane journeys now and always come out unscathed. Agatha has been using it since about 8 weeks old as we needed a lightweight one to get back and forth from Bucharest. I use it to walk the dogs off road and it's been absolutely fine.

There aren't any lightweight, cheap and rear-facing prams. I've looked!
I agree with Maclarens being good but if you solely need it for a holiday then I'd go with the cheapest reclining stroller you can find.

I always take the petite star zia on plane journies. It folds small, which is a bonus when fitting everything in the boot of the car (suitcases etc). You can also get a case for it, which is not essential but its peice of mind that its not gonna get wrecked. It reclines, has a hood which I do think is a must for sunny climes.
Only thing is it would be an expensive purchase just for a one off use. Howvere, look on ebay, or even at car boots (a friend of mine got one for £8 at a car boot!!)

Oh yeah!
Have you seen the new models of Xplory? :faint:
We saw them in the same shop we got ours from and they are lovely. Purple :lurve:
(went to get TrippTrapp..think we are getting addicted to Stokke, OH is regretting not getting their cots..)
Thats the one we got but in red (so I could use my Quinny accessories!)
Have fun!
I plan on using our Quest on holiday too. I also recently bought these hamster bags. You can fit loads in and your buggy won't tip up :thumb: Especially useful if baby is asleep and you can't get to the basket underneath because of the seat being reclined.

You can't go far wrong with a maclaren.
We just got the bee for our holiday as my husband hated our maclaren and refused to push it. My mother hated it too. They are the only 2 people I have ever known to have such a hatred towards it though (I thought it was fabby) so I bet you will both be as pleased as punch with yours. Enjoy your holiday x
I ordered this Babyweavers Three Wheeler from Kiddiecare but had to return it because the buggy I'd ordered originally from ebay finally turned up. Looooooooooong boring story, aaaaaaaaaanyway, the Babyweavers is a rehashed Petit Zia/Quinny Zapp cross and I loved it. Gutted I couldn't keep it actually. Would be perfect for travelling - light, comfortable, easy to fold, great to steer and cheap. It's got great reviews.

Not a huge fan of Maclarens since the finger injury claims anyway
We just bought one from Toys R Us in Orlando as they were cheaper over there.
We bought a Chicco citrix capri lightweight stroller for $80 & at the time the dollar rate was really good so it was miles cheaper than in the UK.
It was also an aluminium frame so very light to carry.
Designed in Italy, the Capri has a rugged yet lightweight annodized aluminum frame that weighs only 11lbs but comes loaded with features you would only expect to find on a full-size stroller! The 2 position reclining seat provides comfort and security with a padded 5 point harness. The adjustable, removable, round canopy protects from the sun, wind and cold. The large basket provides storage for all the things your baby needs. The stroller carry bag & shoulder carry strap make travel & storage convenient.
