could someone offer some advice please

DS is nearly 3.5yrs. He had very long fine hair until he was 2 - it had got so long that I took him to get a hair cut but screamed the place down, so I took him home, and oddly enough he let me use the 'clippers'.

Anyway, we have continued with this over the past year, but stretching the time between cuts, as I want him to start having his hair cut properly.

I have noticed that whilst his hair has thickened up nicely, it has become very thick and bushy (think toilet brush ).

I thought it might be a 'home' thing, but we have had my friend who does my hair come to us to do his hair, but he goes crazy screaming his head off.

I am not able to cut his hair with scissors - I don't even know where to begin - but the clippers are doing it no good.

We have tried bribery, films, books, sweets/lolly, jigsaws. I'm running out of ideas.

Any help please?

Thanks
D.x

What is it he doesn't like?

My DS likes the barbers though he is always shy when he arrives and doesn't want to do it. It is very quick, he has a proper scissors cut and it doesn't even take five minutes and they give him a lolly at the end. My DSs hair is fine and bushy so I'd have a job cutting it at home and I don't want to do it with clippers.

DVD at someone elses house she has known him since he was a baby and he is happy with her and she works round him moving his head every milli second.

I guess not making it into a big thing might help, like just before your friend arrives telling him mummy is having her hair cut letting him watch and perhaps he might even say he wants his doing??

Because of similiar outbursts, I have a hairdresser come to the house. I have mine done first, and then he has his done while sitting on my lap. We let him watch the TV and I have to just hold him tight (while he struggles and cries) until its done. We have done it 3 times at home now, and he didnt cry on the 2nd time, and even wore the robe last time. :faint:
