Fingers Crossed for my friends LO please

I've just had a call from a friend to say that our other friends LO (a little girl 2 wks younger than Lucy) has been in hospital all over the weekend with suspected meningitis :-( They do not know if this is what it definately is but they are treating her as serious.

She told my friend to call us all because we were all together at another friends house on Thursday last week.

Lucy has been a bit groggy over the weekend but tbh thats nothing new, and she does have a temperature atm (have just put her to bed with some calpol) but she DOES have a cold and has gotten up with a sore throat today (as have i!) so it could just be that.

I'm trying not to panic as we're not even sure if meningitis is what this little girl has but its hard not to think the worst isn't it. I know what i'm looking for so shall just keep an eye on her for the time being.

Please can you all send get well vibes to my friends little girl so she gets better soon.

yeah Dan has a throat infection as do half his nursery so it is really doing teh rounds at the mo.

Thanks everyone i've not heard anything since but Lu is definately poorley. Its only 1/4 to 2 and she's asleep for the 2nd time today. She wouldn't eat her lunch but had milk and more calpol and is in bed now :(

I'm sure its just her throat though as she has been coughing something rotten today, she is her normal self otherwise though!

I hope Lucy's ok too Katy. Could just be the age Dylan has been ill with one thing or another for over a month now and it's getting me down - no doubt it's getting him down too. If she worries you at all though just get yourself down the hospital.

Hope your friend's LO is okay, Katy. My step-brother's LO had a meningitis scare at xmas. Thankfully turned out fine. Very scary for all concerned though.

Have had a call from my friend to say that her LO is still in hospital but is a little perkier than over the weekend. They've had tests run and should get the results tomorrow morning so fingers crossed everything is ok!!

Lucy isn't very well at all, had a temp of 39.4 which i've managed to get down using calpol but she has a terrible cough which i really can't do anything about. She's in her room in just a nappy and a vest with no sheets on and keeps waking herself up coughing :( Hopefully it won't last too long. She's been off her food today and hasn't eaten any lunch or dinner :( Has had loads of milk though.

UPDATE: - Well my friend called this afternoon, her LO has been discharged from Hospital now but has to go back as a day paitent every day for the next 14 days as a precaution. Unfortunately the hospital have lost the blood culture results so they don't actually know what the cause of her illness was! Obviously now she is a little better they've said there is no point re-doing the tests. She is still quite poorly but the Nurse's felt she'd be better off at home.
