Title says it all really ...want to make some mini cheese cakes for xmas and tried them with mascarpone already just wondering if ricotta is nicer??

I prefer marscapone as I think it makes the filling smoother.

I think mascarpone has a much nicer texture for things like cheesecake. Ricotta is lighter though and less dense. If I can be bothered I like to use half and half for a nice balance.

Thanks ladies :flowers:.will stick with mascarpone so...just didnt want to waste my money doing any more experimenting

WSS! Enjoy - OT but the first time my Mum met my (now) DH it was in Sainsburys at Xmas time 12 :shock: years ago - he was the manager and she went up to him to complain bitterly that they had run out of marscapone:lol: and how dare they after it had featured on one of Nigella's (or may have been Delia's) shows !!!
