View Full Version : Which is nicer ricotta or mascarpone cheese??
Title says it all really ...want to make some mini cheese cakes for xmas and tried them with mascarpone already just wondering if ricotta is nicer??
I prefer marscapone as I think it makes the filling smoother.

I think mascarpone has a much nicer texture for things like cheesecake. Ricotta is lighter though and less dense. If I can be bothered I like to use half and half for a nice balance.
Thanks ladies :flowers:.will stick with mascarpone so...just didnt want to waste my money doing any more experimenting

I :lurve: marscapone - we get through tubs and tubs of it. Ricotta can be grainy.

WSS! Enjoy - OT but the first time my Mum met my (now) DH it was in Sainsburys at Xmas time 12  years ago - he was the manager and she went up to him to complain bitterly that they had run out of marscapone:lol: and how dare they after it had featured on one of Nigella's (or may have been Delia's) shows !!!
