We still haven't had the usual autumn grass spurt due to the lack of rain, so the paddocks are starting to look like dust bowls again. I've now resorted to feeding the hairy one a slice of hay in the morning and one in the evening just to top up his meagre pickings. We don't usually feed hay until November or December down here, how is everyone else getting on?

Tooooo much grass and a very fat pony! :happyno:
I've just split the field in half with electric fencing. I'm saving the other half for winter. I hope to not start feeding hay til xmas!!
What do you pay?
We can have a normal bale for £2.50 or a huge square bale of haylage for £15.

We feed hay all the time when they're out (we give them food too). We use the hay as a sort of barometer as to how good the grass is...

Hi Natacha, was wondering where you were, hope all is OK with you and yours!
Wotsit we have just paid 1.75 for small bales delivered which I thought was really good.

Mine are still currently getting good grass in their paddocks... Stinger is very fat which is fine by me because he won't be getting rugged. Ginger is also very fat but it won't last long because she loses condition so quickly. :( C'est la vie I suppose.
Edit: 3 euros a bale delivered.
