I didn't want to mention before now  so as not to in any way take the limelight from Mr Sealfaces fantastic fund-raising bike ride  , but the event is now drawing close...

As you'll know, DHs Dad is fighting his second battle with cancer as is currently in long-term chemo hoping to give him some more time so we can enjoy our very special man :lurve: for as long as we possible can. During this time Macmillan Cancer Care, the local district nurses and Marie Curie have been a huge huge help and support to both him and my MIL, so we wanted to do something, some small gesture, to give something back :thumb:

Oh October 10-11th (i.e. weekend after next!) Ian (my DH) and his friend, Jack, are going to be taking part in the Relentless24 (http://www.nofussevents.co.uk/event/Relentless-24/1031/), an endurance mountain bike race. They will be riding as a team of just two, in relay, trying to do as many laps of the 7 1/2 mile course as possible. It includes climbs up into parts of the Ben Nevis Mountain Range and takes in sections of the World Mountain Bike Championships course :brainache:. They are hoping to rack up round 120 - 150 miles and a minimum of 20 hours in the saddle between them during the 24 hour event - and all this on maybe an hour or twos snatched sleep... :faint:

We're hoping to collect as much sponsorship as possible, which will be going to Macmillan

Both are keen amateur mountain bikers, but neither have ever entered any sort of mountain bike race or endurance event before - this will be by far their biggest challenge EVER! :brainache:

I know its hard time for everyone right now , and there are so many wonderful and heartbreaking causes to support  , but if anyone feels able to support their efforts by making a small donation, then you can do so here at Just Giving (phew finally got it working after lots of site errors!)

Thank you! :flowers:

Oh and I meant to say I am just *SO* proud of my DH doing this. He was always a 'huge' man in my eyes, but OMG he's just grown ten foot taller in my estimation. I admire him SO much! :lurve:

(sorry pointless admission there, just had to get that out )

I will give you a donation from Mum, Dad and I on saturday if that's ok. We usually do a coffee morning for the Macmillan nurses and cancer care or give to someone who is doing one, but this year what with Mum's ankle etc we didn't do one.
I hope you have the massage oil ready at the finish :rock::rock:
