I have posted this on house and garden, but I need to know what to do about Maisie. I normally leave her on her play gym where she is really happy when I want to do stuff, like cook or hang out washing etc. I don't really want to do this when there are mice in the room. The one that I just saw ran about a foot from her play gym when she was on it. Does this mean I can never leave her on her own again until the mice are gone? Anyone else had such a horrid experience?

Oh no Pancake :hugs: we had them while I was pg :-(
We live in a terrace, so it could have been any of the houses that were attracting them and they were using the street as a big mouse run! I lloked into it on the net and found out that mice continually drip urine  though I'm not sure what bugs they carry.
We called an exterminator after I found that out and he put poison down in the areas we saw them most. The prob then was finding dead mice and having to wait for OH to get home to move them  but I'd rather have had that than risking Elise or I catching a bug from them. We were lucky that we had a swing though, as they came back last Summer with a fecking veangence
I even found one in OH's full glass of beer from the night before - it was pished as a fart!! I laughed my head off at the poor little thing afterwards ( ) as it was in such a sorry state. It staggered its way over to the corner of the room, and I put a glass over it til OH got home again, but it was so drunk it was trying to get out and could hardly move. Then it was shaking and shivering, but I couldn't stop looking at it, ended up feeling sorry for it  and squirting water under the glass with Elise's medicine syringe!! :laff:  Must have had one hell of a hangover :laff:
Anyway, I'm rambling, but we've not had any since, touch wood!

Oh god, that sounds awful. DH is on his way to B&Q now in search of traps. There is no way I'll be able to empty them though. We are now hiding upstairs in Maisie's bedroom.

I can laugh now, but I was crying my eyes out on the phone to MIL trying to catch the bleedin thing.
I always said I'd never use 'proper' mousetraps, but that was before I had a baby. Oh, and a tip too, use chocolate to bait them, apparently Snickers is the best, but we just used whatever we had in, and it worked.
Another option was to get a cat, but I'm allergic to them, so that was no good.
Also, if you decide to go down the poison route, we had ours put down behind the cooker, fridge, sofa, places that they were most likely to go, but that Elise couldn't get to. It's illegal to put down the stuff that kills instantly, but after they've eaten the stuff and start to feel unwell, they generally go back to wherever they're nesting, away from the house.
Hope you get rid of the buggers soon! :fingerscrossedsmilie:

We've put traps down baited with chocolate hobnobs spread with peanut butter (I tell you, they eat better than me). No results yet though. I am sitting here with my shoulders up round my ears waiting for a snap squeak sound.

Oh you may have a long wait.
I have a mental image of you squashed in a corner now
