Ok so, my birth story!
Went for a walk on Monday afternoon as i was getting some niggles and felt horrendously achey, thought the fresh air would perk me up a little... while we were out my Dad called with some bad news, my mum had suffered a heart attack on Monday morning and was in hospital having stents put in to open up her arterys
I was allowed to speak to her later on that evening and although she was OK she sounded so poorly and i was so worried - which is probably why the following occured
Fast forward to early hours of Tuesday morning, i'd called my little bro to see how he was doing, and while i was on the phone my waters went a bit! I woke MrK up and told him that i thought my waters had gone, he asked if it was sweat... :yeahright: cheeky bugger!!
So, waters had gone at 2am, called hospital in the morning and went in to the assessment centre at 8am, waters had def gone and because of hospital policy regarding waters breaking and the time between them going and starting an induction if needed etc they said MrK had better go get my hospital bag!
My induction was started at 2am Wednesday with the Prostin gel, I was checked at 6am and i was about 3cm.
Got moved to delivery suite at around 9am, midwife examined me and i was still 3cm so they started me on the drip to get contractions going - gets a bit blurry after this... lots of sitting around, some contractions started so we got the epidural in place, which worked a treat at first, Leon had to point out i was having contractions, couldn't feel a thing :) got to about 6cm once she topped the drip up.
However! the epidural stopped working on one side and started getting very intense and close together contractions which i could feel in the right side of my bum, got it wriggled about and topped up and soon after that the midwife examined me again and my cervix was gone and she could see the head - according to my notes 2nd stage lasted only 40 mins, and there she was being plonked on my belly!
Dont remember an awful lot about it really, i remember shivering a lot, thinking 'im pushing but its not as bad as i thought it would be' and waiting for some immense tearing pain towards the end - which never came thankfully! Just grazed - phew!
We got chucked out of the delivery suite rather quick as they were overflowing, moved to a ward where MrK was allowed to stay for 5 mins then he had to go as it was just after visiting time, so i spent my first night in tears and feeling very frightened and alone with no idea how to feed my obviously very hungry baby - not a nice feeling.
Had to track down a midwife to come and help me feed her, Sophy wouldn't latch on and stay on so i spent a frustrated few hours trying to feed, then another midwife came and helped me express and collected it in a syringe.
Turns out - a week later and while seeing the midwife, she has a tongue tie which is pretty severe, which is why we're having immense problems breastfeeding. Wish they'd picked this up at the hospital, esp with all the problems we were having  Hospital on Tuesday to get it fixed so hopefully all will be well after that.
Spent 3 days in hospital in the end, so glad to get home, the place was like a cattle market and the tropical temperature was getting to me big time!! :zombie:
