I read on one of the articles that she learned 25 crafts so probably BM. Have looked at the house pics, looks very nice and not Changing Rooms-like

I've got that dark wood fireplace with the oval mirror.... £99 on the freeads! If she rips it out I'll have to kill her!

i want that kitchen :hissyfit:
I love that sellotape idea for the flowers - so simple but total genius.
Kirsty is brill, but I'm not sure she inhabits the same world as the rest of us! Her home is lovely though and I'm most envious.
Oh I SO hope we get this over here eventually. Mind you if it doesn't involve big guns, fighting or the military then probably not.

Yes - I did think why are you saving one mirror when you've just had workmen sorting that house out probably to the labour cost of about £100,000 by the time it's all done! Still it's the inspiration I suppose.
Why, oh why rip out an original 1930's fireplace though and then harp on about getting another from salvage... :loco:
I don't live near any markets like that.... nor potters..... nor glass blowing....

Am I the only person who found this prog slightly irritating???
I LOVE location x3 and I'm a hugely into handmade/ handcrafted stuff, I can't put my finger why it annoyed me. Maybe 'cos it just skimmed over lots of things without going into any great detail.:scratchchin:
Still had to watch it though:lol:

This was mildly enjoyable, but all the while I couldn't help thinking about how much money was being spent behind the scenes, i.e. not on things from skips, or glass items she made herself, but on the rest of the work. In fact, even having two chairs reupholstered isn't a cheap business!
Also, I don't really like a country or twee look much, so I didn't even feel very envious of the finished result
So, mixed feelings I think!

I think the issue is that it is designed to be a "craft" programme rather than a "property ladder" style programme - so it's all about showing you stuff you can make. Which tends to lend itself to the folksy/craftsy/kitsch look rather than the modern. I mean, there are loads of modern things you can make yourself but that look is less forgiving of mistakes than the country/twee look.
Tbh, some of it is quite lovely - but ... it's all a bit Nigella, no? Oh come and look at my family house, aren't I fabulously PRIVILEGED! And if you had a kitchen the size of an aircraft hanger and money to burn and all the right arty contacts, darling, (oh, and taste, too of course, I have wonderful taste) you too could aspire to my fabulous life!!!
Feck. Off. I am a pleb and my kitchen is too small for kitsch.

 I agree with your summation and the Nigella comparison!

I was very disappointed by this :yeahright: What a load of crap. It was billed as a credit crunch programme but you'd never believe it

I liked it  But then, I am country and twee. And have a large* kitchen, so yah boo sucks to you
*it's not really large but big enough to be country and twee.

Oooh have recorded this now wondering if I'll even like it. I'm not a huge fan of country twee kitsch etc. either.
I do love Kirsty though.

I fast forwarded a lot of it, I'm not really interested in glass blowing or Cath Kidston. I will keep watching though for when she covers crafts I am interested in

Did you see the C4 website has just started a 'rate my craft' section in honour of the series? I might have put one of DH's mirrors on there (bad pic tho :meh:) :teehee: Ave 4.3 stars aint too bad :teehee:

Oh that made him smile Meg, cheers! I was trying to get him to make some to put on Etsy (as well as a bigger one for the bathroom and match the loo roll holder done in the style that we already have) but I have given up nagging!
Oh I'm really rattled Kirstie's featured stained glass panels this week - I'm on the hunt for one for my stair window (from which I'll take the whole colour scheme) and now they are all going to get snapped up :hissyfit:

V. disappointed in this weeks episode. Not my cup of tea at all!
I do love old furniture and hunting for unusual things but the end results in the bathrooms looked rather odd imo.

I may be being a bit old school, but I didn't like the way she used 20s art deco style in a Victorian house. I think that if you're doing up a place, you either go contemporary or you try and re-create the era the house is from. It just jarred a bit for me.

I must admit I thought the same, I wasn't entirely convinced...
I wasn't fully watching the end in all fairness, but I missed the seaside thing? I don't remember anything seaside-y

Yes the beige tiles with the pale yellow suite were very odd and just didn't look right. White rectangular style ones would have been more art deco. Also hated that fugly gold shelving thing with all the crap on it.
The blind was gorgeous though.
Loved the wallpaper and if I ever own my own home again I might give it a go!...
Oh and baskets of magazines next to the loo? Obviously doesn't have four boys in the house with poor aim... :zombie:
Did they cut a bit out... she was in a textiles place at some point and said they were like drugs to her but it never went back to it.
I've been in love with that Burgh Castle hotel for ages and would love to go there.... that will be my treat to myself once the kids all leave home. You can only get across to it when the tide is out and they collect you via sand tractor to take you over.

I didn't think the kids bathroom was fun or very practical.
I liked the yellow bath but not the tiles and not the shaggy rug.......looked very outdated.
I would have gone victorian.
I wouldn't want to sit in downstairs loo after a few drinks with that wallpaper all over it :happyno: I liked the wall paper but too much for me.
I do like the ideas for arts and crafts to take up though  candle making etc was cool!

I think there was a boat stuck on the windowsill...
And then some sort of odd fabric for the blind with taps on it :puzzled: (was looking to see if it was little boats but no such luck).

Ahhh I seee :yeahright:
I think I'll stick to my driftwood and seagulls then :teehee:
I thought the wallpaper in the downstairs loo was a bit OTT...maybe on one wall it would have been ok
i agree the kids bathroom didnt look fun at all..it look like a hospital bathroom
The grown up bathroom looked a bit tacky imo...she was going for glamour ... her idea of glamour is waaay different to mine

Yeah, not for me this week either :happyno: :happyno:
Absolutely LOVED the kitchen :lurve: :lurve: but bathrooms were a bit odd :puzzled:
Kids bathroom, but only a shower :puzzled: and she bought her bath on the basis that you could fit 4 kids in it?:puzzled:
Loved the wallpaper in the downstars loo but think would have looked better hung with a space between strips - was a bit OTT. Loved the old style loo hough
Not my style this week but love the prog.
