I've been looking on the internet at wedding photographers  how much do they charge . I've just seen one for £1,695!
We are having a small wedding but I would like to have some proper photos done. My budget is only about £200 though.
Do you think this is possible?

We paid £350 11 years ago and that was for a basic package:shock:

Do they have photography courses at your local college? Might be worth phoning them up and seeing if you can look at the students' work and find one that will do it for the experience/rather cheaply?
£200 does sound on the low side I'm afraid :-(

I have a friend who has done photography classes who wants to do them as our wedding present. I think I will let her, I'm sure she will be just as good!
Isn't it terrible!
Thanks guys.

You can get some lovely shots by giving out disposable cameras to some of the guests too, they can take pictures of things that the photographer wouldn't think to take. A lot of our best pics came from guests.

The local art college may have someone - theyre always very enthusiastic and normally very good quality - speak to a tutor and see if you can have a look at some portfolios
I know theyre expensive because ours cost more than my dress (but she was fab and highly recommended from a HBer so I scrimped on everything else to have her)

as somebody who studied photography i can say that the film and prints would cost alot so if its £200 for the whole lot im afraid it sounds a bit unplausable!

Im no help, I was going to recommend my photographer when I saw the name of this thread as they were fabaroony! But £2000.
In the mags they say spend a lot as they are your memories of the day!
They are ridiculously expensive I'm afraid. We get 12 photos included in our package, my family will take the rest.
TBH I don't really like the posed style of wedding photos, it's just not us, :happyno: so I'm perfectly happy to have just a handful taken and then leave it in the hands of my relatives to get some lovely natural pictures.

I got married last year and paid £250 for our photographer, we got about 40 of the best photos at 8 by 6 and one enlargement 12 by 10. We got all the photos on a CD and on DVD set to music. We didn't know about the DVD so it was a nice suprise :thumb:
I would still ring round some photographers and ask if they do a budget package or what they would they be able to offer for your budget. It's definately worth a try, that's how we found our photographer.
You could also try any local colleges for photography students or photography clubs

Thanks for all of the ideas. I will just get my friend to take some and everyone else as well and I'm sure we will get some nice shots from somewhere!!!

Think twice before doing this :scratchchin: It may seem like you are saving money but remember that, when all the cake is gone and your dress is stashed in a box in the attic, your photos are really all you have to remind of a very important day. It was our 1st anniversary on Saturday and looking at the photos reminded me of all the little things which made the day so special :girllove:
You may be able to get this from your friends' photos, but if you aren't too sure about their abilities it will be worth stumping up for a professional. Not all of them charge 4-figure sums. Ours was only £250 and he was wonderful  It might take a bit of shopping around (try http://www.findaweddingphotographer.co.uk/homecounties.html ) but I'm sure you'll find someone who will capture the day for you. Good Luck
