Got a freeview box y'day... set up was v simple - basically just click an auto program type button. BBC ones all there BUT main channels like ITV and C4 etc are missing .

Rang the number to check if Freeview available in our area, which it is but may require wideband aerial. Now for starters, we can't find our aerial (not on roof, can't find in roofspace) but evidently have one. And if the basic channels are working on normal tv, surely they'd work on freeview?

Someone please help!!

Can't really help you as such but we have Freeview in our bedroom and all we use if the TV aerial and it works perfect off that.

Is there anyway you can check the signal - mine has a little bar at the bottom to tell me the signal strength It my not be picking up all the channels....

It does sound like it might be an aerial issue. We couldn't get channel 5 at all through the digi box until we upgraded our aerial (I'd highly recommend the poor signal area one from Screwfix thats about £30 - if you have a loft one). Once we replaced the area we suddenly received twice the number of stations. Bit strange that you can't find your aerial, though.

We had exactly the same thing, I was quite miffed as we couldn't get Channel 5 and that was the only reason we got Freeview in the first place! The problem was in our case twofold - a) we needed a new aerial and b) needed to make sure it was pointing at the right transmitter. It may be that your aerial also needs to point towards a different transmitter which is broadcasting the digital signal. If you manage to find your aerial try changing its position and see if that works before buying a new one. If you need more help, give us a shout as DH is a whizz at that sort of thing.

Thanks all... will try all your tips & check out Scatterbrain's aerial. Thanks for the offer of more help from your DH Bertie Boo - unfortunately mine is crap at this kind of thing! :hissyfit:In fact I should probably have a look for the aerial myself rather than take his word .

Being abit nosey here, what do you meen by not getting channel 5, did you not have it before or did you lose it once you installed freeview?

Assume that was aimed at BB Klosie?

We could get ITV & C4 before Freeview but not through Freeview. Can still get it if we switch back to regular tv.

eta sorry for posting in wrong forum Damz, didn't realise this was here.
