Wanted to get into the system as it were and so saw my GP this morning - was about as much use as a chocolate teapot!! He did confirm that I would be fine to fly to Florida in 10 days time :ellie: and that cycling on holiday would be ok so long as I didn't push myself too hard.

But he couldn't answer any questions about scans, VBAC, hospitals etc and instead has booked me in with the nurse on 17 May and sent me away with a pot to bring a sample in - oh joy!!! I forgot about the regular ritual of trying to pee in a tiny pot!!!

All seems a bit more real now - eek!

Generally the GP won't be much help about VBAC/scans etc as they have no input into the policies of your local hospital. Is the appointment on the 17th with a local midwife? She should know more....
I know what you mean about the first appointment making it all seem more "real" - I took James with me and Dr W's first words were "gosh, hasn't he grown up" to which I replied "yes, which is why we wanted another one" :cloud9:
You soon perfect the peeing again - it's like bike riding, once learnt, never forgotten ;-)

I'm seeing the practice nurse Shamu - he says she will know the questions to everything I want to ask.

He was quite funny though because he came and got me from the waiting room and when I told him I was pregnant he was very cautious and asked if I was happy about it (which obviously I am!) before being very congratulatory!!! He was the same GP who told me to get a move on and when was I having more at my 6 week check after having P!!!!

I hope the nurse is helpful as I need to make sure I'm down to have this one at my old hospital in Surrey and I need to know if I need to deal with that or if they will.

Your holiday seems to have come around really quick Lois :)

I was at my doctors this morning too, but because I have to start injecting myself with blood thinners ASAP so needed to get the prescription all set up. I already have my forms for the free prescriptions when pregnant/for a year afterwards, makes it all feel a bit real tbh, now that "the world" knows I am up the duff!

I have my first official appointment next week at the hospital, as that's where all my anti-natal care will take place.

My doctor didn't even ask for pee. I was asked how many HPT's I'd done, and when I replied two she took me at my word. What if I'm NOT pregnant?

Muppetgal - I've never supplied a urine sample for the GP. The HPTs are much more accurate. It's very unusual for GPs to "confirm" the pregnancy these days. In fact, I've only ever done 2 HPTs :laff:

Lois - it ought to be up to the GP to write to your old hospital outlining your request to book there. The practice nurse isn't going to be a budget holder (although maybe Angel can correct me ;) ) Anyway, hope she has the answers for you :D
