They're running ads saying how they're concerned about the environement and to bring your own plastic bags in to the store when you're shoping... but yesterday I had a home-shopping delivery from them and had 1 jar of jam in 1 bag, 1 packet of nappy sacks in another, 1 pot of yoghurt in another.... madness!

That's insane!!
I think what they are trying to do it very commendable though, I am usually overrun with carrier bags but have been making an effort to take canvas ones with me when I go shopping.
Ikea have started charging 5p for a bag now and reduced their blue bags from 75p to 25p:clap:
I know what you mean about tesco home delivery , they always put 1 item in 1 bag (then stick my eggs at the bottom of a bag of heavy stuff :loco: ) but I am now collecting the "green points" You get 1pt for every bag you reuse, a weekly shop last week, I re-used 10 bags !! 10 extra points for me :ellie: how sad am I ?? Having said that, for the first time EVER I am looking to convert my clubcard points into a "deal" for a night away in a hotel, so am a complete points nut at the moment !
But that's not Tescos the company at fault it's an individual staff member. Email the store your delivery comes from and tell them that it's not acceptable. They'll buck their ideas up if they think they'll lose custom.

Mine was like that the other week spandangley. I just stood at the door and took the items out and passed them the bags back.

I thought the exact same thing last week when my tesco delivery arrived.
I did take my own bags into the shop a couple of weeks ago, including a large trolly bag thingy. They gave me two points for that one :ellie:

I keep meaning to get myself organised with bags - my cupboard under the stairs is overrun with carrier bags and I never seem to get round to taking them back for recycling
I'd prefer to use boxes for my shopping so that its easier and quicker to carry back into the house  My sis has just bought one of the large canvas bags from Asda which have the Breast Cancer awareness symbol on - maybe something like that would be good.
I agree about the home delivery - I remember reading somewhere that they were looking at new ways to package up the home delivery stuff that would be kinder to the environment. Can't be that hard surely to come up with something??

I went to a focus group for tesco and they were discussing using boxes, but no one was keen to store them or to be given another person's box (as obviously you would get a re-used, different box each time). It's a bit of a tricky one! I have a string bag which holds LOADS and is really strong (and folds up to nothing in my pocket.)

That's exactly what happened when i ordered food from Tesco's a while ago with different bags so i never ordered from them again.

My shopping always arrives like that too
Does anyone know what happens to the bags you return to the driver? I mean, I'm not asking for the points or anything, but do they get recycled?

I get my shopping delivered home but I return the bags to get recycled with the next delivery.
They should give an option though if you do not want your shopping in bags though.
