Inspired by the 'words you can't stand' thread in LiG, I have been wondering about this issue for a while, especially for those with girls.

For boys I think it is relatively easy and we call it 'willy' which Finn finds hilarious and says it with the double 'l' sounding more like a 'y'. Maybe he has secret Spanish roots we don't know about

Girls though :brainache:
I really hate all the twee little words you could use like 'fou fou' or something. But vagina seems a bit too frank!

What do you call it?
I know there have probably been loads of threads like these but figured it might be mildly amusing as well as informative.

Willy and bottom here, although am dreading having to have this conversation about a girl! May go for "front bottom", that's what we used when we were growing up.

The girls & I call it their 'bits'. Couldnt find anything else I felt OK about using. The boys are their willies. Bottoms are bottoms.

 Mim!

Louis is ALWAYS asking me if I have a willy and when I say no, asking what I have. I say fanny... but I dont really feel that comfortable with it. I wish I could find a word that was en par with willy, because I just cant bring myself to say fanny if elsewhere (he also asks nanny, auntie etc if they have willies)

And Willy!
:lol::lol:
Other parents I know refer to their girls privates as "mooey" or "lala" too.....!

I wonder if any pet name for girls bits would sound 'wrong' iykwim? 'Cos really Fanny is on a par with Willy (both being old fashioned names), but I know what you mean.

With my older kids (10 and 12) I do use fanny unless it's a 'serious' conversation, in which case I use vagina (which I know isn't technically correct blah blah). I can't think off hand what I use with my 5 year old :puzzled:

Lucy calls her "bits" her Button, which I think is very cute! :teehee:

As for boys bits, I have no idea - she has seen her friends willy and asked what it was, and in a panic I said it was his Winky  :why:

I can't think of an acceptable, copyable word for one!

My daughter has a bottom, I may resort to front and back if I need too in future. When we were children i'm sure my mum and dad called it a Mary :happyno:

My daughter decided that boys bits were tails and was most interested in George's when he was born, she was obsessed with why she didn't have one until 1 day she told me that she had a tail and it was in her bottom

Totally and utterly PMSL, i'd wet myself if my 4 year old said that word

Here boys bits are their "bits" and for girls we have "bitty boo" :teehee:

Lucy made herself up a little song for when she's on the toilet, she sings down the stairs "Wipe my bitty booooooooooo nooooooooooow" :teehee:

Willy in this house

I don't have daughters but when I was growing up I called it my 'private' and I suppose I would use that as I can't think of an alternative. I agree, it is a lot trickier for little girls.

We call them willy and 'girlie bits'. I wanted a word that wasn't twee or silly and was also recognisable if Dd ever needed to talk to a Dr or God forbid a policeman.
I heard once of an abuse case falling apart when the child could only say "He touched my flower". The defence were able to argue that the girl had never actually said her private parts had been touched. I think girlie bits are pretty unambiguous.

Henry has a willy and Betty has a fouff (pronounced as you would imagine Tess Daly to say 'stuff', IYKWIM) or sometimes it's called her tuppence.

Abbie
14-01-2009, 12:09pm
Ellie calls them her "bits". And boys have "poos" which dates back to her being very tiny and glimpsing Daddy's willy and being convinced it was a poo.

It's kind of stuck so boys have poos and girls have bits.

Grace has just copied, although she's quite partial to the word willy and likes to yell it in the supermarket, on the street, etc, just for maximum Mummy embarassment

They also call boobs "pompoms"

I had a lilly when I was growing up, I can't use the word now as my it is my niece's middle name and it feels wrong

So we now have twinkles in this house. I think we will end up calling man parts a willy to be honest.

Willies bits and bums in this house.

I'm really not sure why I can't just use the proper terms, I mean they are just words. Vagina I can just about do, but I simply can't say the word penis!

Toby has a willy and he says I have a fluff:oops: I called it that one day when I couldnt think of anything else!! I have tried to change it to twinkle but no joy!

Toby asked me once when I was just back from getting a Brazilian....Mummy, whats wrong with your fluff? here did it go?

He calls his bum a bum or sometimes a bottom.

I call my bits my woman.

My friend has two girls and they call it their pennies

Minky
14-01-2009, 02:22pm
I think vagina is not only a bit grown up but also factually inaccurate, because actually we are referring to the pudendum/labia surely? :teehee:

We call our girls ones a tinky. Mine is a fandango  (cos I think fanny is a bit vulgar ).

ETA I do rather like foof though!

Tinky is short for "tinkle flower". My (:gay:) hairdresser told me that one and I just loved it! So cute!

Front bottom here.

Just out of curiosity, those of you who say I call mine a ... fandango or a foof or whatever ... who do you call it that name to (IYSWIM)? Mr WR would have an instant attack of the giggles if I directed him anywhere near my fandango in the midst of passion, and I can't ever imagine telling the doctor about having a "bit of a problem with my mary, you know Doc, my flower ... oh for heaven's sake man, I mean my foof" Is it just inside your heads that you use those names?

We use "minny" here, it's what I used to say when I was young so seemed the way to go.

My sister decided on "fairy" for her daughter, which just doesn't seem right given the number of times fairy/fairies crop up in a young girl's life

I was wondering that! I don't call mine anything because I'm a grown woman who doesnt talk about her private parts to anyone except a Dr or may Dh and in those case I'll use the correct term for the specific part I'm referring to. As Minky said, the vagina is rarely what people are referring to when they talk about bits down below.
I only use a 'name' for my Dds as when she was 3 I didnt want to have to say "Don't forget to wash your labia" when she was in the bath.

Theo calls his willy for a willy- simple really. We call it that too!
He never asks if Daddy has one or anything like that, although he asked me once what my bits were called and in a slight moment, I said Foofoo:oops:
Which is not a word I have ever used tbh!

What's worse is when he asks what my tampons are, I lied and said they were called cotton wool!

PMSL at this thread :teehee:

Louis says Willy (he loves his new big boy pants "cause I can squish my willy better mummy" ). Hos bottom is his bot.

I wouldn't say fanny for girls, that is quite a rude word here, not something a child says unless as term of abuse! I say mine are "lady bits" and I think I'd stick with bits or front and back bottom if I had a girl.

I was toileting a girl of about 3 at work, and she'd finished her wee, and announced "now I need to wipe my foo foo" I had to try really hard not to laugh out loud

And I have a funny story about my niece when she was younger. SIL is very upfront about things, and as she was a single mum for a while, she'd often end up taking her DD into the bathroom with her, and would answer any questions quite directly.

Anyway, they were in the supermarket, buying wrapping paper and her DD asked to carry the roll of wrapping paper. Which niece then held close to the the appropriate area and said (very loudly)" look, tampax mummy":faint:

Where is a boy's front bottom?

I know a little girl who uses the word 'pussy'. I laugh every time I hear it.

I agree with Minky re : accuracy - it's not your vagina, is it? What about vulva?

Son uses the word willy for him - what I call my chuff has never come up. I think I'd settle for 'lady bits'.

In this house girls will have front bottoms when DD wants to know and DS has a 'fireman'

I totally blame DH for this as he was arsing about after watching South Park - the episode where Kyle is being circumcised and one of the others says in total horror "Dude, they're gonna chop off your fireman"

I have no idea how to get DS to change what he calls it as he is adamant that that is what it is called. I'd rather he said willy tbh.
