I have spent today dress shopping and have so far come up with 2 that I like

this one I like the bling on it which is very subtle and I never though I would go for.
and this one although I would have lace on the bust part

by the way, id look on ebay for these dresses. I bought mine from ebay and its beautiful and cost me £100. It wasnt a maggie sorretto, but it was handmade for someone and fit me perfectly. Also wedding forums like hitched are good too. Good luck on finding your dream dress. I didnt want a fortune but found a beautiful dress.

I like the second one too....and no I am not jealous at all that you are planning your wedding:happyno: ...well ok just a little bit:oops:
I tred the second one both with and without the klace and with and without the ribbon and liked with ribbon and lace but am going back when the new collection is out in a few weeks to try one without lace but with and overlay. It is a Sassi Holford dress and she was there in the shop today and was so lovely, since looking at her site ages ago I have kept and eye out and her dresses raely come up second hand unfortunatly and the secon one I can only find on one website at all!
OH MY GOD!! That second one is one of THE most stunning wedding dresses I have EVER seen. So elegant and classy :wow: :lurve: :faint: :thumb: :woohoo: :cheer2:.
I would SO NOT put ANY lace on it AT ALL. IMHO it would totally ruin it.
First one not my cup of tea at all I'm afraid.
BUT WOW THAT SECOND ONE!!!!

The second one is stunning. Lace would spoil it imho.
Hmm I thought you lot might say the second one, thats the one that will be getting on for £2,000!
The lace detail is very fine not in your face might see if i can find a pic of another dress that looks similar (can you tell I like the lace?)
It is kind of a cross between these 2

just the lace bit at the top but not as long as either of these, she does have a dress similar on her website but you can't see the detail very well.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Step away from the lace! :teehee:
It is so much nicer without it!!!

I LOVE the second one, you must have it.
I agree with Minky though, it's perfect as it is. I've never been a fan of lace though so I am prejudiced.
The sash detail is fab, really unusual yet simple.
The sash she put on me in the shop was not quite dusky pink not quiye mink iyswim and was kind of the colour I was thinking of she then tried a paler coffee/goldy one but the pinky was nicer.

I LOVE the second one and definitely wouldn't put the lace on, just leave it as it is - all clean lines and elegant! It's beautiful

The 2nd one is stunning- really different. As a girl who likes to go for unusual & unique, I would definitely pick that one. The sash mink sash sounds beautiful. I'm sure it would look lovely with lace on it too.
the 1st one is nice but nothing when compared to the 2nd IMHO!

ah now you see I had a Sassi Holford couture dress AND I had a lace shrug with mine and I have to say that personally I am a BIG lace fan.
AND I know that the lace that Sassi does is absolutely divine (everything she does is divine!!!) so I would say if you like the lace, then go for it!!!!
I LURRRRRVED my dress AND I LURRRRRRRRVE lace although the dress is absolutely and utterly stunning without it!
I have to say that PERSONALLY whilst the first dress is clearly very beautiful, it's not the sort of wedding dress that I really like at all - I just think it's too - well normal. BUT personally I'm not a huge fan of embroidery or bling BUT I can see that it does suit some people and is probably their idea of a perfect dress!
It would be a v dull world if we all wanted to wear the same dresses!
The second dress is absolutely and utterly beautiful!!

There both gorgoeus for me though it would be dress 1, this is something that i would love!
Thanks girls, I didn't get the this is the one feeling with either of them, but afetr trying so many on I don't get the feeling that I will just go wow thats it. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it mostly the Sassi one.
Katkinn (I know the answer to this even before I ask it but) is the Sassi dress worth it? i know i could get someone to make one just like it for a lot cheaper.
I am really torn the dress is so expensive and we are on such a tinty tiny budget the dress would blow a significant part of the wedding money out of the water.
I was really really surprised that i liked the first one and you can't see in the pic but the detailing on it is so pretty and not at all in your face which is how I am, its really hard comparing the two its like chalk and cheese.

Oooohhhh can't decide, i like the bigness (is that a word) of the first one but love how unusual the 2nd one is, i couldn't decide.

Katkinn (I know the answer to this even before I ask it but) is the Sassi dress worth it? i know i could get someone to make one just like it for a lot cheaper.
:scratchchin: If I were you, I would SEE if there was a cheaper dress that you liked as much. (I'm not sure where you live but if you like the style of that Sassi dress, it may be worth seeing if you can find some Pronovias dresses somewhere as I think they're a lot cheaper)
BUT if you really really can't find something that you love as much, then yes, I would go for it. (unless you know a really really good dressmaker you trust - I would v cheekily take her along for a try on session, as your "aunt" and get her to make it as that would definitely work out cheaper. Plus you could then have exactly what you wanted)
For me, I started off looking at dresses that were £4k to £5k and was tossing up between a Stuart Parvin or a Neil Cunningham dress when a friend of mine dragged me to this shop in Islington that had "made to measure" rather than designer dresses. (iyswim!)
I LOVED the Sassi H dress that I had - easily "as much" as the other two that I couldn't decide between PLUS when the shop spoke to her, she was really good at changing things on the dress that I wanted - ie I had a longer train (which ironically just pissed me off  ) and covered buttons ALL the way down the back of the dress right to the end of the train (which was probably my fave thing about the whole dress!!)
Still came to £2.5k but that was literally half the price of the others I was looking at so it would have been foolish to go for them when I only liked them as much as the Sassi one iyswim!
Well I hope that utter ramble makes sense.
What I'm trying to say is that if you can afford it, I wouldn't not get a dress if it's your absolute fave as chances are you will regret it (to this day my sil still bemoans the fact that she didn't spend more on her dress to have the dress of her dreams)
PLUS if this isn't the dress of your dreams DO carry on looking as it will be out there (I literally went and saw about 12 designers - I spent hours and hours and hours trying on dresses  )

I :lurve: the second one, and I would have it with lace! Then again my dress has lace so I'm biassed.
I agree that you should try on plenty, until you're sure about the one for you. My dress was almost exactly the opposite of what I thought I wanted, but only one came close out of a dozen tried on, and in the end I went for the one that looked the most elegant and timeless.
Lucky you though, dress shopping! I've pretty much done all the exciting shopping now, except underwear and perfume.

I can't decide, they are both lovely!!
Thanks katkinn you did make sense I will have a look around at other dresses there are quite a few that I have seen while researching that are similar but not as much.
It was only my first day shopping and I plan to try as many places as I can I think that may give me that yeah looking back on it that dress wherever it is was the one
I'm lucky! I've had TWO wedding dresses :teehee: and I loved them both... though on reflection my first one looks a bit dated now .
I think if you can get someone to make your dress for you that is ideal (I did with my first one, never even considered buying it!) as you then get exactly what you want.
My second one I found in Fenwicks in Newcastle - in the French Salon - it was an EVENING dress :loco: in cream (how anyone could have worn it as an evening dress I don't know) so therefore was MILES cheaper than a wedding dress, though IMHO just as stunning. So remember to look in the evening wear sections of shops too.
Here are some photos to give you some idea how un-evening dressy it was

The 2nd dress is absolutely stunning. Makes me want to get married all over again (still to my husband of course!) just so that I could wear something like it. It is gorgeous.
I see what you mean Minky I might have a mooch when I come up for the Damsels party
