if you have one how much do you use it and what do you use it for?

i have no idea why i haven't got one but it seems like we are forever saying ooh we really need a food processor.

we don't hugely have a lot of space, and already have a hand blender and an electric chopper thing (blender??) so do you think a food processor would offer anything extra?

(and can you recommend one)

cheers

I use mine for...
pastry
shortbread
coleslaw
grating carrot
cheese & breadcrumbs for toppings
chopping nuts
slicing potatoes for dauphinoise
mayonnaise
soup
smoothies
thats probably about it tbh!

I use mine for:

grating carrots
making Jamie Oliver's fish curry (which involves blitzing everything and is a piece of piss with a food processor!)
whisking egg whites (not that I do this that often  )
making burgers
making meatballs
making breadcrumbs

I'm I use it for loads more but really cant' think at the mo!! I do make burgers a lot and it gets loads of use in the summer (it takes too seconds - just bung everything in and whizz) And I also make the curry sauce loads as well. (all veg with no fat - just half fat coconut milk so uber healthy but delish!!)

I do tend to use my hand processor for soups, smoothies and all things puree for baby.

I have a chrome magimix which was eye wateringly expensive therefore we got it for a wedding present. Would never have shelled out that much from my own pocket!!

I think that unless you use it ALL the time, a much much cheaper one would suffice. (and unless you're Delia, you probably won't need ALL the whistles and bells that a more expensive one would come with. DH got our "extras for the Magimix" box out of the cupboard on Sat and asked me what they were all for and I had the good grace to blush, shrug and blame it on the pg hormones rather than me being a crap and lazy cook!!!!)

We had a lovely Bosch one which died about 5 months ago. I used to puree J's meals in it and it was ace
We have replaced it recently with a more basic model and haven't used it that much tbh  I had fully intended to get back into making soup which it's GREAT for but just haven't been @rsed
Will no doubt use it when weaning beanette though :D
