Well we had our Christening chat last night, and came to the following decisions!

We are going to ask a church in another parish if they will do the Christening. Mainly because we have no links to the church here, well I do but we cant do it Catholic. So we are going to ask the vicar who just did OHs grandmas funeral if we can do it in the church there. Its a very small church in the middle of nowhere, and both his grandparents are buried there and his parents got married there. Its also in the parish where we are hoping to move to next year and therefore Isabel will end up going to school there. So fingers crossed, will keep you posted.

After toying with how many people to invite, we originally came up with a list of about 60, but it just seemed expensive to try and hire anywhere to hold and feed this many people, so we have decided to do it with just our parents and godparents present and then a meal afterwards so there will be just be 11 of us. Easier to manage I think! However I may still look into hiring a room at a hotel for a buffet, as it would be nice to be able to make more of an occassion of it and invite people who havent yet really seen her.

Phew!!

I am glad from reading some of your posts on my other thread, like Lois, that you have managed to get it done elsewhere! OH is ringing the church today so we will have to wait and find out!

Hope it all works out for you. We had to get it done elseweher too as our local minister refused - and then said that because he had refused no other minister should do it!!! Grrrrr! I do wonder about how "Christian" some supposed Christians are at times....

That sounds great Joanna, we have considered having a smaller "do" this time round, last time, whilst it was brilliant, cost us £700 and we just cant afford that this time

So we are considering just grandparents, godparents and a few close friends and then going for a meal.

Hope you get the church you want hun

I'm sure it will be lovely :) It's nice you have links to the church you have chosen.
