I started having pains by my left hip - sort of where what I think is my ovary area - started at the beginning of the year.

It was always a week after I had started my period. Went to docs twice and got sent for a scan. Had a scan and that was all clear.

The pains faded for a month but were still there and are now back with a vengance.

I have had probs with the hip (after the pains) which I saw an osteopath for - I am having problems with that still too. Just hurts sometimes when I walk.

So after telling my mate today she said had i thought about testing for STIs. I had - but havent done it. So I have booked in with docs on Friday evening to be tested.

But now I am scared stupid.......I am scared that I might not be able to have kids and that I should have tested before now. Having kids means alot to me A hell of alot - and I know its never a certainty but the idea that I cant kills me (i am almost crying now thinking about it and I am sat at work)

I know I am prob working myself up over nothing and that on Friday (or when I get results) I can hopefully rule out something else out. I'm so nervous and scared.

Sometimes people get cramps there around ovulation. Try not to worry

I did think that to start with - but it just seems so strong. It used to be one week exactly after the day my period started. But now its the week before. And its very very strong today. Dont know if thats cos I am thinking about it though

Doc suggested ovulation pains but then he said he thought it was too soon time wise for that, he said normally its 14days.....but he was horrid to me and think he thought I was time wasting. Woman was much nicer when I saw her and was immediately referred for a scan to see if I had cysts or anything. That was clear........

So now I am just thinking what is it? - I just want to rule other things out.

Maybe its related to your hip. The main thing is the scan was clear and your ovaries obviously looked healthy. If you had a infection and it had been doing damage to your ovaries then I'd expect that would have been noticed on the scan or you would perhaps have other symptoms - it seems unlikely anyway.

The two weeks before you ovulate is the time when your ovaries are active so it could be to do with ovulation. I would often get twinges etc, sometimes quite bad.

Try not to worry x

Loukes, I really don't know what it might be other than ovulation pains, but try not to get yourself worked up about it. I suppose that's easy for me to say, but it could just be something really simple.

 Come back and post on Friday when you've seen the doc.

ETA: There's a bit of info here: http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/abdominalpains.htm

Loukes, I don't know what it is but I have the exact same pain - on the left of my stomach just at the top of my hipbone, and for me I do get it associated with ovulation, although not always (I got it a few times when I was in the pill and I blimmin hope I wasn't ovulating then!). It hurts when I press and I think I can feel a lump in the tender bit if I dig my fingers in.
I'd be interested to hear what it is if you do find anything else.....

I will let you know - but I am on the pill (?) Have been for nearly 5 years now. But it was doc who suggested ovulation pains and they know I'm on pill. Was a bit baffled when they said it - but do I go through the motions of ovulation but just not have eggs! Sorry if i sound stupid - I dont fully understand!!!!!

Seeing doctor at 5.20pm tmw. Female doc. so will ask to be tested for everything going and see what she thinks. She cant refuse me tests though can she?

Well when I phoned docs last week I told them specifically what I wanted appointment for. Got to my appointment - explained what was wrong and what I wanted. Got myself rather worked up and ended up crying!!! Then the doctor told me that she couldnt do the tests there and I would have to go back.......

I was very annoyed cos I had specifically asked to go for that reason. So now I have to wait until next week. (cant go this week for womanly reasons!)

Just so annoyed cos I had worked myself up so much.

Doc said did I have any other reason to think it was stis? Said no but I'd worked myself up reading articles about chlymidia and PID. She doesnt seem to think it will be them.

Hurting today but that could just be normal monthly pains as well but it is def more in the area I have been having pains,

Sorry to moan again - just cant stop thinking bout it......................

Oh I was wondering about you this morning! Really sorry you still don't know what's causing it but it doesn't sound like the doctor is overly concerned?

Wish I could say something that would make you stop worrying!

STIs that can leave you infertile like Chlamydia don't have any symptoms, which is the main problem. I have been unfortunate enough to have been passed the big C by a charming ex boyfriend who never told me. I found out a YEAR later  I worried for years after that I would not be able to have children, but it was all for nothing. I can & it's fine!

I really don't think your ovary pain is down to an STI. Ones that manifest themselves are much uglier than ovary pain I'm sure!

If you have had scans & they are clear, I would say it is hormonal. Personally I think doctors are rubbish with things like this & you might be much better off going to see an oesteopath (is that the right one?). They sem to have a much better handle on health concerns, general well being etc.

I hope I have been able to calm a few of your fears.

Maybe a bit - thankyou.

Just a bit unnerving not knowing why these pains have come on - suppose maybe its just general wear and tear as I am getting older!!!!!!!!

Once I have had these tests then I think that will relax me alot more. Then I suppose I will just have to put up with it. There is nothing on the scan, the doctor cant feel any lumps or anything like that. so if these tests are clear suppose I'm just going to have to put up with it.

It does hurt alot more when I talk about it or think about it. So mayeb its partly psychological.
