View Full Version : Homebirths or Birthing Centre
Has anyone had one? Or had their baby at birthing unit? With DD i practised Hypnobirthing and active birthing and luckily got the birth i wanted. It was natural with only gas and air at then end giving birth in a waterpool/bath.
I really want to aim for a similar birth practising Hypnobirthing again but this time am interested in having the baby at home, or at a birth centre.
Any advice?

I had DD at home and it was a fantastic experience. Her birth story is on here if you want a read, I'll try and find it.
I'm booked for another home birth with this one.
I know L66tty had a home birth with DS1 just before me and went for another this time with DS2 but transferred. I know both were positive experiences for her. There are more home birthers on ehre but for some reason my mind has gone blank  They'll be along.

I had a home birth
I wouldn't call it "fantastic", it was bl**dy hard work, but I'd do it again in an instant.
You sound like a perfect candidate! :thumb:

I had a homebirth and a home labour and would do it again even though DS2 ended up being an emergency CS! Home rules!

Can't answer your question as I had a hospital birth with all the trimmings last time but considering alternatives this time around, so quick question, if you have a home birth where exactly do you give birth? Might sound daft but I've been wondering this especially as we have a tiny house & no chance of erecting a birthing pool anywhere :scratchchin:

Mrs Cheeso, you can give birth wherever you feel comfortable, just so long as the MW can get at you! They advise that you put down plastic sheets or old shower curtains to protect your floor or bed or couch or wherever you are.
I didn't have a homebirth but really wanted one.

My last two were born at home and they were just awesome births!!
I birthed them both leaning over the sofa!! :lurve:

I gave birth on my brand new bed which was not my plan :happyno: I planned to give birth in the lounge and had set things up accordingly but it all happened so fast I could not get down the stairs.
Luckily my bed was not harmed at all and the whole experience was lovely. I really hope this time goes as well as that.
From your first experience it sounds like you'd be perfect for a home birth. Have you mentioned it to your midwives?
I had my last 2 home and it was great .
With both I knelt on the floor and leaned on the sofa.
