Well as most of you know I had my first son at home in water and a bit of G&A and it was a truly amazing experience!

So I was all set for a shorter labour with no drugs this time!

Throughout Tuesday I had been having mild contractions some making me stop for a few seconds but not enough to stop me doing a bit of shopping!!

By the evening things were kicking off properly and I was having erratic contractions quite regular but not lasting too long.

Around 7pm the first midwife came out and while my contractions had ramped up masses coming thick and fast but not for long periods of time when she arrived they stopped almost completely she suggested I went for a walk or kept moving to keep things going I was 1 cm dilated. So we went about 100 yards up the street and I decided it was too cold so I would walk around at home, we watched a film some cheesey chick flick and got the end and thought hmm this is funny things aren't moving I am off to bed to get some rest this is going to take a long time.

So tried to rest between contractions and then things seemed to pick up again so called for midwife again she came out and I was ready to get in the pool and I asked to be examined again as I didn't want to slow things down but I was 5cm so good to go and the pool was bliss!!!

I sat in the pool having contractions till about 7am pushing for about 45 mins but the baby was no where to be seen. It felt all wrong I knew I was pushing right but baby wasn't moving down. So we decided to ARM and see if that helped it seemed to so I pushed for longer but he seemed to be more and more stuck. Then I started to panic things weren't right I got out the pool and tried to march the baby out I tried lifting on leg I tried to climb stairs I was threatened with a transfer BUT nothing worked. I had started G&A by now and suggested that actually I wanted to go to hospital, I was beginning to loose it at this point the contractions really hurt but nothing was moving!

The trip by ambulance was hell I gave out one of my blood curdling contraction screams and the co pilot was like move it mate!!! I think he was shit scared! Oddly they insisted I put gel on my hands as I was wheeled in the door remember that bit as very surreal was glad of the G&A as although it doesn't take the intensity away it does make it feel like its happening to someone else!

My husband was fantastic through out so supportive even though he must of been bricking it by this point!

Arrived on labour ward nice epidural man arrived nearly punched him when he said it would take 30 mins to work!!! I think I knew in myself that I was heading for a C section I knew something was wrong and I wouldn't be able to do it naturally so wanted the epipoodle! Then a lovely Doctor examined me declared I was to try for a bit longer although I was stuck and ready with the synotocin I was contracting well on my own I pushed and he prodded and declared the baby was transverse Right Occipital Lie basically head down but looking up not down and trying to come down ear first! We were to try a bit longer to see if he would turn with assistance but he never got past 2/5th engaged. He was too high for forceps and vontouse plus I was like keep those metal things away from my fangita!! (had quite a nasty tear last time thank you very much)

So off we went for a CS I was like halleluiah then I suddenly realised that I was going to be cut open whilst awake!!! That started to FREAK me out. Lots of drugs were administered but they were really good at telling me why and what as I wanted to be as drug free as possible for my baby.

They listened to what I wanted and although they didn't say everything that they were doing as the people closest to me couldn't see I could pretty much feel it but absolutely no pain. It’s a bit like having severe pins and needles where you can't feel where you touch!

I was a bit of an emotional wreck through out the section all sorts of things spinning in my head. However as soon as he popped out I just wanted to hold him. However he wasn't too well he had an apgar score of 5 he needed a little air to get going (quite common in a CS) He soon was fine though and Daddy got to trim the cord and bring him over to me when he decided to do a huge poo!! Dexter did that too all over me in the pool so it was pay back to daddy time!! Anyways then I got to have my cuddle.

I was shaking really badly though and couldn't hold him plus the bed is slanted and all the drips etc made things really hard. So daddy kept hold of him and as requested they stayed with me while I was stitched up and stuff. That took forever and I was so jittery.

Finally transferred into the recovery room I was shivering uncontrollably and really cold baby and Daddy were having lovely cuddles so I wasn't worried.

They soon covered me in 100's of blankets and I started to warm up and Frazer Morgan and I met properly we tried to have a little feed but it was all a bit awkward and so we decided to get the weighing and measuring done whilst I recovered. He was 8lb 13oz 9 so nearly 9lbs if he hadn't pooed he would of been! my last baby was 6lb 10oz so a HUGE difference.

We looked at the placenta that had been kept for us to look at as requested and it showed signs of calcification (old age) and an extremely short cord which also gives another explanation as to why he wasn't descending!

We were left alone as a family and it was lovely as I slowly returned to normal and was able to hold him and feed him.

Eventually we went on to the postnatal ward where everyone was lovely and looked after us very well!

Holy crap does it hurt though my scar is healing nicely but oww oww oww that first night was hard I had as much pain relief as possible but it was so hard to sit and turn just to pick him up I found that bit really hard plus loads of other screaming babies when Mine was quiet. By day time I wanted out of there I was feeling a lot better and had a shower etc and felt more human again. Last night wasn't too bad as there were lots of first night mums with knackered babies that were quiet! So we had a good amount of sleep! We had to stay in an extra night as Frazer's temp was a bit high and they were worried about my GBS status so we decided that we would be safer rather than sorry I think the high temp was due to the 100's of blankets though! As he got the all clear today and we finally got home about 4.30!!

Dexter has been adorable and wants to cuddle him all the time which is so sweet. I am not liking not being able to pick him up though! Frazer is a little button he is feeding well and huge but tiny and my husband is truly amazing love you all my boys xxxx

Oh sweetie, well done you! Love the mention of 'fanjita' in your birth story

I'm so pleased you had a positive experience, despite it being at the other end of the spectrum from Dexter's birth :higgies:

Lovely story L66TTY, you must have been scared though. I can't believe the size difference!! :faint: I shivered uncontrollably after my epidoodle too, so I think it's something to do with that!

I think I am quite pleased I have experienced both sides of birth and know that I gave Frazer the best start as he did actually experience labour just not the squeezing through bit at the end!! Also I am really proud I got as far as I did with no drugs at all so really feel like I have done it all now!!

Thats a fab story Lotty, Im SO glad you had a nice section and that you were able to remain awake and meet your boy.

I am totally with you when you said you felt you wanted to go to hospital, and said you knew where it was going... I was exactly the same. I think there just a feeling inside when you know its not gonna work.

Glad you are recoving well xxx

Wow what a story! Congratulations again

I think the shaking is your body going into shock, it has happened to me after both of my deliveries.

Congratulations L66tty! I can't believe how quickly your pregnancy went, still a bit :puzzled: at where the last 9months have gone. I'm glad you had a second positive birth, and your new son is gorgeous!
