I never thought I'd say this as ever since we started weaning him J has always eaten everything, but lately he's just stopped eating altogether - even at nursery.

He's got a cold but whenever he's had one before he has still eaten his favourites but he just won't entertain it any more.

At a push he'll have;

fish fingers
beans
toast
grapes
fruit
raisins
biscuits
chocolate (of course!)

And that's it! Now, out of that lot he can't have fish fingers and beans or beans on toast for every meal can he but he won't try anything else.

I'm starting to get worried. I never thought we'd have a fussy eater as we're always so positive about food and we love it ourselves.

Really don't know what to do :sigh:

IMO yes he can eat that every day  Its a pretty healthy selection he likes so that is good.

I'd give him things you know he'll eat most meals and throw in one you're not sure about every so often too. If he doesn't eat it, thats ok.

His cold might be playing a part in it, I know I only like my favourite things when I'm ill (eggs and soldiers!!).

It doesn't really mean he is fussy :happyno: See what happens when he gets better.

Its is frustrating when you make things they don't want though:hug:

OMG LuLu, could have written that myself about DS - all of a sudden he will only eat baked beans, weetabix and bananas.

It's driving me batty. He also has a cold just now and also has been a teriffic eater up to now. Am consoling myself after reading your post that it's the cold that's doing it?

Good advice Red - will stick with faves and chuck in some curveballs every so often:scratchchin:

Ava went through something similar when she had a tummy bug and teething. I too was getting very concerned about everything going pear shaped and becoming a picky eater but now she's back to her old self and will try all sorts. It was a good month or so where her eating was affected, all she wanted was yoghurts, popeye pasta and veg.

I was just going to post about my daughter having days where she just doesnt want to eat and I saw this! Yesterday was a real struggle. She didnt even want her milk. I had a tummy bug last week so she could have it, or her top teeth might be coming through. It's hard not to get annoyed about it, especially when she wont drink her milk before bed and as a result wakes me up at silly o'clock

This happened with DD too. And there's nothing more dispiriting than preparing something yummy and having it pushed away.

With DD it was a phase she went through and I tried to give her one meal a day which I knew she'd eat and then try something else with the other.

I put some teething gel on last night to see if I could feel her top teeth and one has broken through. She was better yesterday so I reckon it must have been her tooth, poor baby.

Aw, hope things get better now it's through.

Jake usually gets more hungry when he's teething.

Thankfully he has started to eat a bit more at nursery over the last couple of days so he may be on the mend. I really need to try to expand his diet somehow - must do some new recipe research!
