View Full Version : Observations at the gym....

Just random thoughts, but I've noticed at my gym that a lot of women are very exhibitionist in the changing rooms.

I am not shy, and don't hide away in one of those wee private changing rooms - I get changed in the main room, put my body lotion on after a shower etc. BUT I tend to wrap a towel around my waist if I'm doing my upper body, and then put my knickers on before I do my legs (bra too).

But heaps of women wander around in the buff, even blowdrying and doing their make up before they get dressed.

It doesn't bother me at all, though I am a bit   because NONE of these women have drop dead bodies (maybe if I did I might show off a bit more :teehee:).

Many of them are 50 plus, and while they have ok figures - well, some of them - one in particular has boobs that look like deflated balloons and is a PERFECT example of why NOT to use a sunbed - skin like leather.

Is this a Home Counties phenomenon? Or is it like this in your gym too? :scratchchin: :scratchchin: :scratchchin: :scratchchin:

Or am I hopelessley modest?

I certianly don't have a perfect body, but I don't really cover up in the changing rooms. I certainly don't faff about holding a towel round my waist while moisturising bits of myself :happyno: I regularly blow dry my hair with no top on as my deodrant is still drying (probably)

TBH, way I figure it, we're all women so why on earth would I care what someone thinks of my figure? I can't really see why it would bother anyone?

I'm a little puzzled at to why women without supposedly perfect bodies should cover up more than those with bodies deemed acceptable by lads' mags or gay fashion designers?

Well I guess that's just a personal thing, Damz. I'm with Minky on that one I'm afraid! I'm DEAD shy like that and keep as much of myself covered up as I can, and do wish I could be more confident like some of those other women - be they big/small/ugly/beautiful whatever. And I'm ashamed to say that I do wonder why some of those "without supposedly perfect bodies" are so confident.

There you go, I'm just being honest.

I'm not saying they should cover up, I'm just saying I would cover up - I definitely wouldn't stand around for 10 mins having a chat with someone when I was buck naked, like many of them do.

As I said, I don't hide away, or pull on my knickers under my towel, but I don't flaunt it either...

If you're modest, you're modest.

And if you're not - what difference should the shape of your body make? Woohoo for the women who have body confidence!!

Ooh forgot to say, like Shoppie said I would also blow dry my hair without my top on, but not without my BRA on! What a hideous sight, that would just send everyone running!

My thoughts exactly Didds. I would happily blowdry in my underwear, but frankly, my tinky and :boobies: are not for general release!

:damsels: across the country breathe a sigh of relief :teehee:

Ooh, I wouldn't walk around with just my underwear on. Am too embarrassed of my wobbly backside and legs and my cellulite.

I am a towel person, except for getting dressed. Wouldn't dream of walking round in the nuddy. It's not a body confidence thing, it's a "Why the f*ck would you want to do that?" thing, whatever your shape!

I'm way too shy for that sort of thing and get dressed as quickly as possible

I certainly don't parade around in the nude at the gym, or sit and dry my hair etc, but I do think there's no reason on earth why women should feel they need to cover themselves up when they're simply in the company of other women. For me, it's a case of simplicity! Far more easy to get dressed without having to juggle a towel

This makes me think about another topic....off to post!

I'm a hide in the cubicle girl. I just don't get my bits out in public, end of.

Have told this story on HB before but the worst sight I saw in the gym changing room was a woman standing in the buff using her ladyshaver on her ladybits. It was minging. Someone had to clean that hair up

Minky its the same in my gym changing room!! Its actually quite scarey seeing old ladies do it, especially if they start talking to me i dont quite no where to look   :booty: :boobies:

When i shower i walk around in a towel wrapped around me. I keep it on to put my underwear and knickers on and then quickly put my clothes on

:shock::shock::huh::huh: No way - that is not right AT ALL!

I personally wouldn't wander around totally starkers, but would hapily dry my hair, etc in my undies - to me that is just like wearing my bathers.
At my gym (when I used to go aeons ago that is) there were always ladies walking round nude though.

Until recently my underwear has been so old and absolutely shocking (I mean that! More hole than pants and really old and manky) that I wouldn't dare show them in public.

I have bought myself a few new pairs reently and it's a revalation!

I'm way too shy to get undressed in front of other people - I absolutely hate it, and I don't actually shower at my gym now, anyway. They seem to have had an influx of new members, and it's always so packed in there. I have a far nicer shower, and privacy, at home, and I'm only a few minutes away by car.

It's making me shudder just thinking about it - it reminds me of school.

I go swimming a lot, and as I spend quite a while naked in the shower and others go in there and chat too, I'm not bothered about being naked in the changing rooms either - makes it easier to moisturise too!

I used to do everything in the cubicles, but they're so small it's much easier to stay out in the main changing room bit.

I do sometimes end up chatting in the nud  I'm usually meant to be getting dressed, but get distracted. I really hope its not me with the unattractive body you lot are seeing and wondering why I'm nekid
I've just never seen the big deal in being naked round other women?

Though cna I just say the shaving thing is icky :loco:

I find it weird when I go to the showers after swimming and see naked women walking around, I don't know why, but why would I want to see other women naked? (I suppose that's why my eyes are mostly directed to the floor) I can just about look at myself naked. But good on them for having the confidence to do so.
What if some of these women are lesbians?

My boyfriend says it's not much different in the men's changing rooms. All wandering around with their willies out

It's not about whether it's women or men. It's being naked in front of ANYONE. Even myself really :loco:
