I love Ferris Beuller! Posting that on the A-Z of film threads was what made me think of other 80's movies :D

I think I must have watched the video of it every single day during the school holidays...at least once. I think it had something to do with Matthew Broderick :lurve:

Ferris Bueller you're my hero

I also liked Pretty in Pink lots!

Oh and you can't be my age and not have a soft spot for Dirty Dancing - this made me laugh becase it reminded me of a friend at uni (when drunk) launching herself at another friend (she was leaping from the bed) saying 'Ethel (name changed to protect the innocent) be Patrick Swayze' to which Ethel moved smartly out of the way leaving flying friend to land drunkenly on the floor :laff:

Yes AG, it was made in 1987 :geek: That is a fab film :ellie:

I had a major crush on Corey Haim in the 80's and probably the 90's too!

I watched most of his movies - Licence to Drive, Dream a Little Dream, Silver Bullet.

Both have been mentioned before, but I LOVE Stand By Me and The Lost Boys. Don't think I could choose a favourite out of those 2 as they're too different to compare!

I love Pretty in Pink too and could never work out why she didn't choose Duckie but I always go for the underdog!

I also loved Mannequin. Anyone else remember this? It starred a very young Kim Cattrall.

Has anyone watched Top Gun recently? It is SO gay! The volleyball scene is just gay porn. And the relationship between Goose and Maverick - yeah right  . And Tom Cruise really wanted to shag that other bloke - his enemy figure, can't remember his name.

The 80s film I really like is Scandal, about The Profumo Affair. I also really like The Accused.

Another vote for Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
"It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

Oh, and I must have seen Back to the Future about five times in the cinema when it came out.

Untamed Heart!! But it was the 90's I'm afraid! I loved Christian Slater- especially Pump Up the Volume & True Romance but they were 90's too.

Amadeus was one of my all time fav 80's flicks, as are Highlander, Labyrinth & Steel Magnolias. I love love love the song from Working Girl "Let the River Run" by Carly Simon!

Brat pack: Footloose, Lost Boys, & I think Dirty Dancing should go without saying!

Oh it's got to be Ferris Bueller for me!

"Hey badabadabada zowing bada ... kennedy, kennedy, kennedy" <- who know's why but it's stuck in my head for god knows how many years!

Other favs include:

Anything with Corey Haim (OMG I used to LURRRVE him!)
Lost Boys
Breakfast Club / Pretty in Pink (Duckie can now be seen in 2 and a half men with Charlie Sheen, excuse me but both have seen better days!)
Young Guns and Young Guns 2 (What's not to like, Keifer, Charlie, Emilio, Lou all in one film!)

Isn't Pretty Woman an '80s film? And one of my all time "I'm feeling down about something and need cheering up" DVDs. Must see if I can dig it out....

Top Gun is good but you have to watch it (as we all did at Uni in the 80s) while wearing Ray-ban aviators.

Another vote for Heathers here, also Back To The Future, Romancing The Stone, Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure, Ghostbusters and Girls Just Want To Have Fun - The Movie (featuring a very young Sarah Jessica Parker!)

Pretty Woman was released in 1990 although I think it was made in 1989 so technically it counts as an 80s movie!

Same as everyone else I think! Back to the Future  (all 3 but esp no 2), Dirty Dancing, The Goonies (I was so happy this was on TV at the weekend!!).

But none of Tom Cruise's films - I cannot stand that man and Top Gun makes me want to vomit

"Hey badabadabada zowing bada ... kennedy, kennedy, kennedy"

Mrs Gucci, for 20 odd years you've been hearing wrong - Cameron says "He better, he better, he better, he better, swing (serwing) better"?

My faves were

Ferris B
Weird Science
War Games (Greetings Professor Falken, the only winning move is not to play)
Goonies (At the moment I can def do the truffle shuffle - bugger!)
Top Gun
Dead Poets Society (I love House as I get to drool over RSL)
Dirty Dancing
St Elmo's Fire
Footloose
Karate Kid
Adventures in Babysitting
The Breakfast Club

Bluecow, I was wondering actually when I typed whether to opt for better or batter. I hear it differently every time I watch it. I had to ask DH what he thought it was and he swung me towards 'better' but I may have to have a sneaky watch this afternoon to see what todays ears are hearing

i loved most of the ones mentioned here already but the reason i came on this thread was to rave about the lost boys, it's still in my top 3 films ever!
i had the book, the soundtrack (i bought it 3 times on vinyl, cassette and cd) the video twice because i had to buy it again when i moved to the US. and now dvd !

i was obsessed with it for a long timw and would watch it over and over. i have a mate who periodically texts me a line from and i reply with the next line! qiute sad really
I didn't discover it untill the early ninties though so does that count? I would have sold my family for jason patric!!!

also loved ghostbusters 1 and 2.
