I'm looking for a book for P to explain to her that she is going to have a baby brother or sister. I know a few 2nd time mummies have mentioned one before but with pg brain I can't remember what it was called?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Lois xx

I have this one How Are Babies Made? (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0746025025/qid=1145203698/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl/203-2857480-1283966) though it's more about the pregnancy side rather than the actual mentally preparing a child for the arrival. There is one they have on Tikkabilla but I can't remember what it's called! Having a think.

Ahhh, here it is

THere's a House Inside My Mummy (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1841210684/qid=1145204445/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_2_1/203-2857480-1283966)

That made me snort :laff: I had to go look it up and OMG, the reviews!

Mummy laid an Egg (pmsl) (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0811803503/qid=1145204766/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_3_1/203-2857480-1283966)

Good book - up until the point that all sorts of weird sexual positions are shown. Totally inappropriate for a young child - why on earth does a 6-year-old need to know this level of detail? This could be confusing and upsetting for a child - see if you can view a copy before buying, or at least look through it before you give it to your child to see if you approve.

When I was looking for books for Z I saw one called Made With Love and it was far too tmi for him.

James LOVES "There's a house" It's such a lovely story and I'm going to miss reading it to him once beanette arrives ;-)
There are a few others around but most aren't quite as good

There's a house inside my mummy! It is fab - same one Shamu is recommending to you - I'm going to miss hearing E and daddy reading it together and me listening in downstairs. Aimed specifically at 2 year olds I think

Fabulous - thanks ladies. Knew I could depend on you!!

Yes I don't think the one with the sex positions is what I'm after atm!!! I'm just dreading that 'how did the baby get in your tummy?' question - which I'm sure she'll save for a special occasion like the doctor's waiting room or a wedding!!! :laff:

Lois - just wait until she's insisting on seeing the baby as James did yesterday on the train... This consists of pulling my top right up and then my trousers/skirt down and then trying to pull my granny pants down too  And if he doesn't get distracted, his next request is to see "boobs" :boobies:

PMSL Shamu!

When Z was that age he used to point at women and shout 'Boobs!' and 'No Boobs' at men. I was

lol at Shamu - we've got this with B too (not the boobies yet thanks) but as soon as anyone even mentions the 'baby' word she's legging it towards me, hurdling over all obstacles in a desparate attempt to get to my stomach and expose it's hideousness to the world!!!

I second, or third, or whatever the There's a House inside my Mummy book - one of the best things I found about it was that it's nice generic drawings inside - the little boy looks like he could be a girl so I've been able to convince B that the little boy is actually her! She really enjoys it and I hope it's getting through!

PMSL

Suppose it could have been worse - he could have shouted "no boobs" at some women or even "boobs" at some men :laff:

Hi Lois

I don't know how old your little girl is but mine was 20 months when her brother was born and we went for good old Topsy and Tim. I can't remember exactly what it's called but it was suitable for Natasha at the time. I'm saving diagrams and more graphic details until my children are at least 26 :laff: :laff:
