Am very poorly at the mo, have a very sore throat, huge tonsils with white spots on them, a nasty headache, my temp is coming up for 100degrees and I'm aching all over. Oh, and I've got a cough and cold too.

I went to the chemist, and the pharmacist advised me to gargle soluble aspirin. I haven't taken aspirin for years, and I'm not sure if I can take anything with it - does anyone know? I have ibuprofen, paracetamol and co-codamol in the house.

Thank you :flowers:

You can take paracetamol at the same time as aspirin but I am not sure about anything else.

What Joanna said, I'm positive you can't take ibruprofen or cocodamol with aspirin.

You can take paracetamol and ibuprofen together if you feel lousy, and not gargle with soluble aspirin, warm salty water works just as well.

Ibuprofen and aspirin are in the same "family" - non steroidal anti inflamatories, so shouldn't be taken together....
If you were going to gargle and spit the aspirin out then it would be fine, but if you were going to swallow (sorry but :teehee: ) then you shouldn't take ibuprofen as well.
Cocodamol is a paracetamol containing medication so you can EITHER take that or plain paracetamol iyswim
You CAN take paracetamol AND aspirin OR cocodamol AND aspirin OR paracetamol AND ibuprofen OR cocodamol AND ibuprofen
Does that make sense?
If you want, you can gurgle a warm water and salt combo (professional singers do this a lot) but obviously you'd HAVE to spit that one out

:teehee: Shamu

Thanks for all your replies ladies :flowers: . I checked the NHS Direct site, and it said the same as you Shamu, which was what I expected. I had been swallowing :teehee: so I've just had paracetamol. Hasn't made much difference, but there you go. I'll be happy as long as I'm on the mend for tomorrow.
