What would cause this & how do I get rid of it???

I wouldn't have thought a dishwasher could get mouldy, considering that it's full of cleaning chemicals & steam etc but it is. And it's making my dishes mouldy! I've used a dishwasher cleaner thingy & taken all the removable bits out, cleaned them & put them back but no improvement so far...

Anyone had this problem before? What causes it? How do I fix it?? I can't live without my dishwasher!!! :hissyfit:

Do you leave it closed when not in use?

Sometimes...

I've had a dishwasher for 10 years & never had this problem before though.

Mind you this flat seems to be under attack from moths, mosquitos & fruit flies at the moment & I don't know where they're coming from either... can't wait to get out of here & into our new house!

If you are using a lower temperature wash all the time and leaving it closed that could contribute to the mould. Using the hottest cycle every few days might keep it at bay. Using a powder sometimes helps with this problem in washing machines but I don't know if that applies to dishwashers too?
