MY OH paid a deposit for a 2 day safari for us through eclipse - he has rung today to pay the balance to be told it is full and we cant have our place so the deposit will be repaid..........
My OH is in tears cos he paid for this for me for my Christmas present last year - He feels he has spoilt my holiday cos he cant do this for me. (we can still go on hols btw!)
Alot of things have been going "wrong" for us recently so he feels crap that this has gone wrong.
This is the first time my OH has ever broken down like this - he has been so strong about everything........
SO - anyway - what I am asking is - have people been to kenya? will we be able to book a 2day safari when we get out there? - has anyone got any company details that we can enquire about booking with?
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya
We went to Kenya 6 years ago and we booked our Safari once we were out there.
If I remember rightly we booked ours on the 1st day we were there, via our rep at the welcome meeting. We went to the Voi Safari Park. We had a lovely time.
Tell you oh not to worry you will be able to still do a trip.

Hi
So sorry that you were dissapointed, I went to Kenya 10 years ago when my mum lived out there for 6 months so we didn't go on a package holiday, we booked a 2 night safari in a travel agents in Nairobi while we were there,it was called the Mara intrepids Club, we got a little plane from Wilson airport in Nairobi to a dirt klanding strip in the masai mara. It is a bit more civilised than you think it's going to be in the big cities, but very dangerous be careful of touts on the street, if you look like a tourist they will pounce on you and try and sell you a safari, so I would go to a proper travel agent. You can also get it much cheaper by doing it while you're there. It depends where you are staying but I can also recommend taking the overnight train (but go 1st class or you will be in same sex bunks) from Nairobi to Mombasa, we spent 2 nights in the Africana sea lodge on Diani beach, it was fantastic!!!
I hope that helps and you have a wonderful holiday, I'm jelalous!

Thanks
Been looking on websites and not having much luck at moment.
I told OH that I was sure that we could book something once we get there. Eclipse have told OH that trip is fully booked. I said I am sure that everyone that is going to kenya the same 2 weeks as us havent prebooked and that it will be offered when we get there
Guy was quite rude to OH I might phone later and enquire if we can prebook and see what is said..............
We are stying at sun n sand beach resort in Kikambala.
Any details of any safri companies people have used will be very useful and a great help please.
this is where we stayed, it was fantastic, and we got it MUCH cheaper than that in a travel agent in nairobi.

You will definately be able to book a safari once you get there honey, so honestly dont panic. Eclipse's trip may be full, but there are other tour operators, and safari trips on offer.

How far is Nairobi from where we are staying to get to though?
I am not very confident in travelling places when not accompanied if you see what I mean (my experience in Luxor really put me off)
I think I am more upset that OH was crying. We have been through so much in the past 12months and he never cries..........

What a shame they've messed up.
I've never been to Kenya but just wanted to say I hope you have a lovely time. It sounds as though you will be able to book something once you get there.
