View Full Version : Where to buy dried pasta shapes for children
Can anyone help? I used to buy dried alphabet pasta shapes from Tesco's but they have stopped selling them. Has anyone seen anything similar whether alphabet or shapes?
Thanks.

Tesco do the Peter Rabbit shapes, as do larger branches of Boots. I just bought some small pasta but for the life of me I can't think what it is called. Farfellini?

Sainsbury's do conchigliette which is tiny shells. Those Peter Rabbit ones are organic and quite expensive IMO.

Boots do them. But like scatter says you can buy the soup pasta, might be called macchiate (or I might have made that name up!) will check my pasta book!
eta - I DID make the name up :laff: you can get sop pasta called stellate, rotellini, conchigliette, but the best one has to be little snails - lumachine!
Try an italian deli?
Thanks for all your replies. I'm going to hunt them down today!

I also used to buy the tiny pasta shells from tesco, never bothered with special BABY pasta, was too expensive. She has ordinary sized pasta now.

Waitrose still do the Peter Rabbit ones but they are special baby ones which aren't necessary for babies over 6 mths, I don't think. Waitrose also do wheels which are called Rotelline, which is normal pasta. I also find the tubes (penne) go down well with R.
Thanks again for your help. I went to Waitrose and saw the Peter Rabbit pasta but refused to pay £1.49 for a tiny bag! Sorry if I sound tight. I'll try & get hold of the stars if I can. The joys of being a parent of a fussy eater! He won't eat twirls or shells - arghhhhhhhhhhh!

I don't know about anyone else but I really struggle to find small pasta in any shape! Just been to Asda today and they didn't have any, neither did Sainsburys :scratchchin:
Snap. I think Tesco's have small twists & shells. Good luck.

I want to find some baby pasta too.
Organix used to do baby alphabet pasta shapes which were great but they discontinued it.
I got the Conchigliette from Sainsbury's but it is much too big to give Connie at the moment so I have to pulse it down.

Just thought i would mention in case anyone didnt know, Annabel Karmel has brought out a range of pasta and other stuff, I saw it in Boots the other day!
I bought very tiny pasta from there which is suitable from 7 months.
There is also icecube trays for food, measuring spoons and stuff (wish she had brought all this out sooner! )

You could always just bash the pasta up before you cook it!
I bet the AK range is expensive?

Diddlum, I dont think its too bad, 70p I think it was for the pasta - the ice cube trays and other bits are reasonable priced I thought.
Just thought I would update you on the pasta front. I went to Tesco's again today and they have introduced a range of pasta for children. The shapes are animals and aren't too expensive 59p for 500g. I bought 3 bags! :ellie:

Thought I would just post to say Callum ate his pasta :ellie:
I was surprised as the pieces were still pretty big and he did spit some of it out but overall he eat quite a lot it. I like the idea of bashing the pasta up before cooking, might try that and see what happens:scratchchin:
Yay for Callum. It is a strange texture - must be weird for little ones.
