Do you claim DLA?

I recall at a support group I went to a while ago that they were talking about getting their DLA applications in and hadn't realised it was something we'd be entitled to. Obviously now we've got a diagnosis we can go ahead, but just wanted to double check..

I know there are lots of forms involved so don't want to do it all if theres no chance of getting anything!

Thanks.

I don't have a child with ASD, but I claimed DLA for my eldest (he has a severe learning disability). Basically, if your child needs more care and attention than another child of the same age but without the difficulty, then you might be able to claim it.

Yes I claim DLA for my daughter. Forms are a nightmare though, I would advise going to the CAB or similar to help fill them in.

PM me if I can be of any help :higgies:

Thanks for the replies, so it would definitely seem worth me applying. We have a Parent Parnership scheme here which helps with form filling etc so I'll give them a call I think.

Thanks again and DL shall definitely PM you if I need guidance with them (same for you, if I can help you in anyway of course).

Always worth applying BB, while I dont know your financial situation, there are other things on sucessful DLA grant that you may be able to claim (higher tax credits, carers concession on days out or carers allowance for example).

Filling the forms in is hard work, mainly due to the fact that you are highlighting EVERY SINGLE problem that you face as a family on your worst days.

Good luck, request the form now, as they also will backdate to the date of request.
