View Full Version : Do you get up with your LO's as soon as they wake up in the morning?
Following on from CL's bedtime thread. Just wondering what everyone else does in the morning?
I don't I let them potter around the bedrooms playing, especially do this if they wake at 5am.:zombie: If it's a school day SD usually takes them down and gives them breakfast and I get up about half an hour later. DH is already downstairs as he sleeps on the couch these days as he can't get any sleep because Hannah is in our bed. On weekends they will usually shout DH until he comes up and gets them (stairgate at top of stairs) and I'll sleep in.
Can you tell I'm not a morning person? :teehee:
If it's a work/nursery day then we'll all get up pretty much straight away. But Mr B works shifts and I only work 3 days a week so half the time we just stick the stairgate up and let him wander around upstairs while we attempt to snooze for a while. He's normally climbing all over us or putting shoes in the bed or dressing up in my underwear, keeps him happy for an hour or so!

Maisie stays in her room until we go and get her. She is usually still in bed, but she can be out of it playing with toys. But she doesn't leave the room :woohoo:.
At weekends, I will usually go in at about 9 to get her.

Dan comes in to see me, goes down to see OH if he is downstairs dealing with Molly, then he wanders off to his room to play for a while - very loudly though .
I then open my eyes and reveal I am awake!

We showed ds2 how to use the sky box so he goes downstairs and puts NickJr on. Dd3 will also go down and put the telly on. It's very rare for ds3 to get up before those 2 so he goes to watch telly with them.

I try not to:zombie: today at 5.55 i put her bck to bed and told her it was too early, had to do this 3 times, until she came in crying at 6.45 and had a cuddle and went downstairs.
I detest early mornings, we are going to try an fit the blackout blind again tonight.

I/DH get up with E as soon as she comes for us. We've taken the stairgate off her door now so she tends to potter in her room for a while and then come into our room. At that point one of us will get up with her.

Luckily as I live with my mum she is always up at 6am so he goes downstairs to find her.
If she is not there then he will put on a film and get into bed with me!

matthew wakes up really early, 5.30-6.00 most days , he used to come in our bed and watch tv but recently he has been sneaking downstairs and putting on the Wii till we all get up at 7
if E wakes before seven i put tv on in our bed and she stays there with me.
on weekends we let her go down to see matthew while we have an extra half hour

William normally gets himself up, goes to the loo, lets the cat in his bedroom then stays there playing (trying to dress the cat) until we surface. It's half an hour max.
For some reason, he's never come in our room to get us up. I think he takes his chance to torment poor Mimi while we haven't got the energy to stop him.
I got to Louis when he starts crying in his cot and bring him in to our bed for his milk. But then he usually gets up and potters about the house while we lie in bed  especially at weekends!

Sometimes. On a work day I usually do unless I get woken at 5am. If Amy is up early I tend to pretend to still be asleep (DH will have already gone to work at 4.30) and she will go off and play by herself or climb in with me and lie next to me stroking my face (which is :lurve: ). If its Claire I tell her its too early and she climbs in with me and sometimes goes back to sleep.

When they were smaller they always woke up and came straight to our bed. Until they went to school one of us always got up with them. Now they are older they play in their rooms or go through and put the TV on. Of course that will all change once wriggle puts in an appearance!

I put Chloe into our bed and she generally plays with her toys, very very loudly :yeahright:, or will go and jump on DH
So I never really manage to go back to sleep I just savour every last second that I can stay in bed.
Son No.1 wakes up at about 6.30 ish and comes into our room where he crawls over us, empties the drawers in our bathroom, falls off the bed, unplugs the radio etc...
Whilst this is going on, me and partner play chicken over who will get up first. Even though we all have to get up at 7 anyway, we still complete for an extra minute in bed.

This sounds strangely familiar

Seb's still in our room so he comes into bed if he is up and grumping (he will just lie there and sing to himself). Dylan doen't usually get up until 7 - 8ish so I get up with him as I fear for what he would do alone (he helpfully 'washes up' etc which, while well intentioned often ends in a flood).
No, I try not too! He has the Bunny Alarm Clock, and is told he cannot get out of bed til Bunny wakes up (at 7am). He has some toys and a drink in his cot with him.
I HATE going downstairs before 7am on a non-work day

I usually leave T singing in bed for about 30 mins before getting him!
He always sounds like he is having a good time, so I leave him be, and it means I can get ready in that time!

Well my LO wakes up between 7am & 9am and i'm almost always awake so we go down stairs and put the tv on for a while, get a drink and then eat breakfast. If on the odd occasion he wakes up and i'm still in bed he'll just come in too our room and jump in beside us for a while, then we go downstairs.
He sleeps in his own bedroom from around 9pm till 7-9am although he does wake up now and again for a drink which can get really annoying!!

One or both of the children will come in around 6.30ish, if it's Joe he will crawl into bed for a snooze with us, if it's Evie she wants full on conversations and action.
Dh and I are not morning people at all, so we ask them to go and play in their rooms, or I make dh go downstairs to put the telly on and give them a drink.
We then stay in bed until about 8ish, with various visits from the children to report on progress. Then I get up and tidy all the mess

Depends what time it is! If v early I'll try and ignore him for as long as possible and hope he will amuse himself in his cot. This doesn't always work so tend to get him when the shouting becomes too loud/unbearable.

If Matthew wakes up in a good mood, I usually leave him in his cot to play for a bit. He's happy to be in there and tells us loudly when he's ready to get out by standing up, rattling the bars and shouting 'up up up'.
I always get him up straight away if he's crying though
Nope...I have a (personal) rule that anytime before 7am is too early! So, if Lily wakes earlier, she will play quite happily in her bed until we go and get her. She seems to have an internal clock that tells her when 7am is, as much past that she starts calling for us.
Wierdly, she doesn't get out of bed, as she can open her door - but I'm not sure she's worked out she can do that yet. Not looking forward to when she does

Conor will usually lie/sit quite happily singing away for around half anf hour/45 mins before he gets bored and starts calling for us.
We're generally downstairs by 7.30-7.45 at the latest most days, and on work days we're out the door by 7.30.

Why do you think I had a 6yr age gap between mine :teehee:
When I want a lie in Charlie plays the role of mummy brilliantly and brings Emma downstairs, gets her a drink and some fruit and puts beebies on or plays with her until I surface
I try not to. For some reason for the last week they've both gone from getting up at about 8am to anything after 6.30. DS likes DD to go and play in his room with him so I let them get on with it, until they both climb in with me, then I know thats the end to my peace. I tried putting the tv on for them this morning and went back to bed, but DD came and dragged me out. I hate getting up!
Ella wakes about 6.30am but I leave her until 6.45 because she is really grumpy when she first wakes up so it's just not worth it, I let her wake up properly first!!! She takes after her mother! She is still in a cot at the moment but I'm sure it will all change when she gets a big girls bed.

Lucy gets up the same time as DH does for work (6am) so she usually sits on her stool in the bathroom and reads him a book whilst he goes to the toilet :teehee: then they brush their teeth together.
DH makes a cuppa for me and warms milk up for Lucy and then he heads off for work and me and Lucy watch 1/2 hour of cartoons in bed before coming down stairs.
