As i now no and have now accepted, that working out, doesnt always mean your weight goes down, as muscle is heavier than fat
I thought that from tomorrow i wouls take measurements off my thigh, hips wasit, and tummy and see if the inches are comming off that way, if the weight isnt
Anyone else preapered to do this??

I got this off another site :yeahright: , apparently these are the measurements you should take:
Chest at nipple line
waist at belly button
hips at hip bone
right bicep at largest part
Right thigh at largest part
Right calf at largest part
Not sure I'm bothered about measuring my biceps and legs though are you? And my nipple line - well that's probably round about my belly button level these days anyway!

I used to be the manager of a gym and we measured people once a month. One lady hardly lost any weight but really visibly toned up and lost a total of 14 inches in just two months! :ellie: It was much more encouraging for her than the scales.
I won't be posting my measurements though. I don't have time for the gym any more and I miss it very much.

02-08-2006, 09:39am
I tried to measure myself this morning (thought before breakfast would be a good idea!) but I found it really hard to do! Every time I measured I got something different, so if I measure in a month's (or even a week's) time how will I know whether I'm measuring exactly the same bit?:puzzled:
Anyway, rough measurements today were:
Chest: 35 ins
Waist: 31 ins
Hips: 37 ins
Didn't do my legs and arms, might do later though.

Right, found the tape measure, here we go;
Chest at nipple line - 38
waist at belly button - 31 inches
hips at hip bone - 40
right bicep at largest part - 10.5
Right thigh at largest part - 26.5
Right calf at largest part - 14
body fat average at 24% apparently.

That is so not fat - 20.9% to 25.7% is the "good" category. Whilst me at 29.7% sits in the "poor" category.....

Ive just used an online calculator, it is probably incorrect as it goes from measurements and weight and i am both heavy and large; http://www.weightlossforgood.co.uk/body_fat_calculator.htm

Hmm - using your website I am 25% - yet my 29.7% came from the machine at work (yes - they are trying us sedentary office workers slightly more healthy).
My BMI sits in the ideal weight range, yet my body fat percentage is poor...

I will just say that if the one at work uses an electrical current then they are notoriously inaccurate as the current finds the quickest way out the body and measures resistance on route. So if its a hand held device it will basically measure the fat in yr arms and torso and if its a stand on one it will go up one leg and down the other. Hence two different results.
the best way to measure fat is with callipers.

Well there you go my lovely, you are already a fantastic weight!
The two problems you have is that you work in an industry where you rely on your looks and are often surrounded by girls to whom you compare yourself, and you used to be a really skinny minny and won't be satisfied until you get back there.
At some point its often a relief just to be happy with how you are NOW.

I have just found my tape measure and will put mine here too....
Chest at nipple - 36 inches
waist 26 inches (28 at belly button)
hips 33 inches
that gives me a body fat 20% for 26 inches, 27% for the 29 inches - (high) yikes i really need to get some tummy fat off! I have fallen into the trap of thinking that just because I wear size 8 trousers - I am healhy - obviously NOT!
I must sort myself out!

Ohhhh dear i rembered this thread and thought that it must been nearing a month since we posted our measurements, but it has been over a month now well by a few days i am not going to have anything to report except bigger measurements what with not going to the gym hardly, prob about 3 x max this whole month
I am however from this week back on track and have my personal trainer sorting me out and getting on my case so hopefully next month there will be something to report! I shall measure anyway so i know what i am and put my results up
Whats this months measurements for you

Ok have just measured myself again, so cant believe that was over a month ago we did this, how that month flew
Chest at nipple line 33inchs
waist at belly button 27 inchs
hips at hip bone 32.5 inchs
right bicep at largest part 10 inchs
Right thigh at largest part 21 inchs
Right calf at largest part 13 inchs
My measurements last month were
Chest at nipple line 32inchs
waist at belly button 27inchs
hips at hip bone 33 inchs
right bicep at largest part 10 inchs
right bicep at largest part 22 inchs
Right calf at largest part 13.5 inchs
So i have gained a inch on my chest, 1/2 inch on my hip bone area, :faint:
Lost a inch on my thighs & 1/2 inch on my calf :thumb: i wouldnt have said that though.
