We're still in quarentine with DD - I'm crossing my fingers that the worst of the spots are over but we'll see how we get on tomorrow.

Bubs is jumping round loads and really low down kicks so I think it's probably breech at the mo.

I don't know how you do it Myzz  . I'd be wanting to give the annoying kids a slap which obviously you can't do!

Great pic Laura - I feel like I put on more weight last time and looked bigger all over (girl) BUT I think this one is also a girl... My friend definitely carried the same for both hers and had a boy then girl. Have you done the wedding ring test?

well today, they were quite prepared to let me carry 2 boxes on my own (one with all their class books in & another with revision books......)

I actually asked them if they were actually going to walk out & leave me to it in my condition & one of them had the nerve to say yes:yeahright:

And these are some of the better kids in the school........

Oh no Myzz - hope if it is food posioning it goes really quickly for you :higgies:
bleugh you really suffer in pregnancy don't you? Can't believe you've done it 4 times!!

Laura - love the bump! Mine is sitting the same as last time - both same sex but I'm not sure it always follows.

Red - I would love to let eleanor run round soft play on her own!! Must be wonderful for you!! hope you had a relaxing time!

Myzz those kids send my blood pressure high on your behalf!

Peridot - so it's sort of a surprise then really!!

MRs D hope those spots are over soon.

Just made some biscuits. Mr T is away and I need to keep busy when he isn't here as I'm not good on my own at the moment. Took dad to the cemetry today for the first time.

Had massive screams from eleanor earlier. Didnt realise the cat was asleep under the bed and scared her witless!

Happy I slept for a record 6 hours last night!!!!! And this baby is doing the conga most of the time.

Cheers Peridot. He is only away tonight this week but left early this morning and back late tomorrow. He is generally away 2/3 nights per week which isn't as bad as some people have I know, but it is just a bit hard at the moment. The cat isn't the best conversationalist.

To be honest I logged onto his work calendar and booked him in the office loads to try and stop him going away so much.

i am loving your thinking on the work calendar thing :teehee:

Well I have just got back from the film and I feel like Ive been run over by a steamroller- FANTASTIC film but quite harrowing then we had a panel type debate with independant mws, team mws, NCT antenatal teacher, hospital midwife supervisor..........it was really interesting but the irony was I saw two of my Community Team Midwives there and they didnt know I was pregnant again..................(Ive only been on their caseload for 5 months :yeahright: )
I am thinking more and more about homebirths now fro the continuity of care POV....I am with a team but if you go to hospital they cant attend- if you do it at home you get two. I have had 3 realatively straightforward gas and air births so would be a good candidate but am very undecdied.
I think my baby is also breech at the mo (they usually are for me at this stage ) as she appears to be using my cervix as a dancefoor :faint:

Go for it PP cuddling up in your own bed after pure bliss!!! (don't mean to offend anyone just offering support to PP)

I think I hve missed the Brighton screening of this I wanted to go see it too might be on again somewhere else soulds like it was a good night!!

I think my baby thinks my bladder is a trampoline it's doing my head in!!! Then they seem to do loop de loops kicking the top of the bump one minute the bottom the next!!!

Myzz PM me your address hun so I can send you some Silica!!!

 same here, its sooooooooooo annoying!!

Thomas is now going round asking for the baby by the name we have given him :teehee: & poking my belly button looking for him :zombie:

Film sounds great pops, if you like the thought of a home birth I think you shuold go for it :thumb: I don't know anyone that planned/had a homebirth & regretted it!

Morning ladies

PP...I'm planning a home birth this time. I had a hospital birth (straight forward) with N but didn't feel supported by the hosp mw, they were too busy. Felt a nuisance even though I popped him out within an hour of getting there! Have a good chat with your community mw. Mine is very pro home births and very supportive.

Just back from Nathans school. Parents were invited to sit in on the reading session today (4 of us turned up out of 23). Nathan was so well behaved I was beaming when I came out. His teacher said afterwards that he's always the same and has great general knowledge. :thumb: He'll be getting a treat later.

Tripod..You are coping so well, espescially with your DH being away so much. Wish I lived closer to you (and everyone else) so we could meet up.

Off out with MIL now.

 Viper - it's completely understandable that you worry. With DD I conceived straight after a m/c and had bleeding two or three times up to 15 weeks. I used to panic that things weren't right, I did relax after the 20 week scan and then counted to 34 weeks as I thought after that bubs could be born and would probably be OK - not that she was early but it eased my mind.

If I have a natural birth then unfortunately it has to be in the labour ward (according to mw due to previous c section). We'll see as it might well be another section anyway if bubs is still breech at my 37 week scan.

Not long now til the third trimester I guess?!? We'll soon be talking about mat leave and packing the hospital bags etc...

Viper - so natural to worry! Glad you have popped in here - we don't see you enough!

PP - I just saw a friend who had a home birth today as it goes! She was full of it! I would like to but I need the drugs! Plus group B strep and all that jazz...

Red how lovely to see Nathan in class and doing so well! that warmed my heart!

HOpe everyone has a nice weekend planned!

You know what Vipes? Thanks to Euwyn, I never stopped being on pantwatch with either Brett or Tobes & now of course this one.....

I had spotting with Euwyn, Brett & this one at around 6 weeks. So of course pantwatch all 4 times for the first trimester.

Now although I've got 5 weeks till the main worry for me (& it was only with Euwyn thankfully) I'm back on pantwatch

Hohum - & it doesn't get any easier once they arrive :happyno:

kids - pah!!!

PP - my Bill Oddie loving friend (that was you wasn't it?)
Homebirths are fab:nod:

Hospital bag? Well at this stage with Brett I already had my bag packed.....
Didn't bother with Toby (even tho I suppose I should have in case anything went wrong)

Don't think I'll bother this time round either:happyno:

hello all
I have just had SUCH a lovely day and evening!
Little O has hardcore pox so I didnt have her today but that meant I had the morning with no kids at all as Bean was at nursery (session 3-went in without a peep and has been on about "my school" all day :lurve: ) so I went to Primark and spent £30-thats gotta be a while new wardrobe :teehee: went to Woolies and got DH some cds for fathers day and went to Superdrug for new hair colours  Then went and picked up Mali, F and Bean and went up to best mates armed with Lemon Drizzle Cake and put the world to rights for a couple of hours. Then I went to pick DH up and we went to Pizza Express with the kids and just had a fab time- they were all really good and had a right giggle- weve just got in and DH is now putting them to bed (Beans already asleep- awwww) I actually feel quite emotional as they are all growing up so fast- Mali is changing every day and definately a boy now not a toddler in any way shape or form and Beanie is becoming the same- Sofi is just a teenager and that is so scary but shes SOOOO funny (doesnt like it when we laugh though :teehee:)
I have a MW appt on Tues so am going to seriously talk Home Births then- the consultant took my GBS sticker off and declared it "nonsense" but i have to see what the MWs say..........

L66TTY
14-06-2008, 12:48am
I am GBS positive with all the yello stickers but having a homebirth.

The MW can give it to you at home or you can have them at hospital then go home or your GP can give them to you so lots of options! Plus there are negatives to the IV AB's that I think people should be made more aware of ho hum!

Did you know also that GBS can come and go very quickly so you may not even have it when you give birth?

Also if you want info about home births after a CSec there is a really good bit on here www.homebirth.org.uk (http://www.homebirth.org.uk) click on the bit where is ays you can't have a homebirth becuase...

Right falling asleep do off to bed!!

Ahhh well done Nathan

Ahhh Vipes its great to hear from you and hear that you're doing so well  Just think, tomorrow your baby is officially a baby and not just a foetus :cool2: When I was in hosp with Thomas there was a woman that had her baby at 24 weeks on the same day as me and her baby did so well and it fine :thumb: Obviously not trying to say it would be a good thing if this happened to any of us but I find it comforting to know that our LO's can make it from about this stage!Myz it must be horrible with every nudge you get, :fingerscrossed: this bubba follows the trend of you last one
Hope you have a fab holiday Vipes x

Mrs D - can't believe we're nearly in 3rd trimester :ellie: as you can tell by my 3rd ticker I CAN'T wait till maternity leave

14-06-2008, 09:29am
Oooh I might have a Mat leave ticker too *steals idea* whens your last day Peri??

baby was dancing on my cervix at 4am and I was up for AGES with a blocked nose(not to mention Beanie curled up against my back) so am now a bit knackered.

Whats everyone up to this weekend?? I am off to a car boot with mum in a bit (that really is my life- car boot sales and currys:teehee:) and then Dhs best mate Steve and his girls(you must all be familiar with them by now lol) are coming at 5 for a Wii evening. Fathers Day tomorrow so I guess I will be waiting on DH and cooking a roast.
God I think DD has a birthday party to go to at some point today as well I HATE THEM as I have to drive her to some random out of town soft play and be around to pick her up HOWEVER this particular soft play is next to a big Mall................*plots*

mrsdunny207
14-06-2008, 11:05am
Well PP if you *have* to spend time next a mall it would be rude not to go in!

We're off to a BBQ as long as DD has scabbed over (nice!) but it saves us doing a roast for fathers day.

At the moment I'm planning to work until Sept 12th which seems ages away yet but I'm sure it will go quite quickly - maybe I need a ticker too  .

I'm not sure I really fancy a home birth anyway - I can see the positives but for me I don't think it's the way I want to go...

 Good morning ladies!

I'm sorry I've barely been around, just popping in for a quick hello.

I stop work in 2 weeks (yay! taking all my annual leave before mat leave starts) and also moving to Singapore in 2 weeks. Trying to pack up the last 10 years of my life whilst still working full-time and pregnant is proving to be a nightmare but I'm getting there slowly. Thankfully I had my mum to help last week. She's now gone back to Singapore and my Dad's coming tomorrow to "escort" me back to Singapore but he is probably going to underfoot rather than be helpful....

So I'm spending my weekend still packing and clearing, with a Date Night tonight with MrPC (our only quality time now until I leave) and brunch tomorrow with a girlfriend. Would it be weird to get MrPC a Father's Day card from the bump?

Glad to see things are looking sunnier amongst the October mummies, and good wishes to you all - I may not have much time to post until I'm back in Singapore 1st July!

Have a great weekend,
PC xx

Afternoon!

I'm just about to have some boiled eggs, then it's a quick bath & off to Coventry to see wrestling (as soon as DH's cousin turns up to babysit that is - she says she'll be here around 2......)

 All.

Good to hear from you Viper--I am loving the kicks too!! And still on :pants: watch myself . But as Peridot says, from 24 weeks baby has a good cance of surviving should she come early. I am personally waiting to relax when I hit 28 weeks, but I know that every day she stays in from 24 is a better chance of her surviving if something were to happen and she came early.

We are in a bit of a panic over money. We dont know how we are going to pay this hospital bill, and because of the credit crunch we cant get a loan. DH is waiting inheritance from his mum and grandma, but that could be ages yet. At least we know we *will* be ok, its just a waiting game.

I stopped my anti-d's about 3 months ago and now thinking I should start taking them again  I am getting way stressed and teary all the time over NOTHING. I just cant do it anymore :-(

As for mat leave, I am working until the 24th June then I have nothing lined up work wise. I am assuming the odd temp nanny job will come in during the school hols that will fill my time. Not worried about it yet....

Hope everyone is well!

PP why did the consultant take off the gbs sticker? I still have one!!! I want to get rid so I can hopefully give birth and come home asap. Was in 5 days last time. Glad you had such a nice day.

I think my sense of smell and taste is about to return!!!! At a fete today and could just about make out the donuts mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Wish I could have tasted them!

Good to hear from you PC :thumb: Hope the packing goes well, I think a fathers day card for Mr PC is a lovely idea

Pops I'm finishing work the last week of August!
I keep getting tempted to move it forward but its only 10 weeks now and the longer I stay the easier it will be to afford T's nursery fees (I want him to stay where he is until he is 3 in Feb as I don't want to unsettle him by swapping nurseries as soon as the baby comes along)

Banana, maybe not ideal but could you get a 0% credit card to pay the hosp fess and just pay the minimum off of it until your money comes through??

NOt up to much this weekend, seeing both sets of families tomorrow for fathers day! Trying to remain happy and positive for fathers day for my DH but also finding it quite hard - it will be 25 years on Tuesday since my Dad passed away :sigh: Just brings back horribe memories, particularly because it was around fathers day that he died.
(In case I ever confuse anyone, I do refer to my step dad as my dad as he adopted me when I was very young so just in case I've posted recently talking about my dad IYSWIM?!)

Anyway - I'm sure we'll all have a lovely day :fingerscrossed:

Off to cook a random dinner now, don't feel at all hungry so not sure what to have :scratchchin:

Hey Peridot - for fathers day, it must be hard for you. My DH lost his dad about 9 years ago now and I know he has the odd 'moment' when it comes back to him.

We're still in quarantine and DH was playing cricket all day so it's just been me and DD for pretty much the whole day. She is being really good with her spots etc but talking to no-one but a nearly 2 year old can be a bit draining  .

Good luck with the move PC - hope things go well.

I just had pasta, veggies and pesto as I'm cooking for one.

L66tty you have given me things to think about with the GBS IV - I am so hopeless and just do what the docs say. I will investigate further.

PC - great ot see you again!

I managed to miss this page when posting last. Have no idea how that happened!

Banana am with you on the 24 week count down. I do hope you get your money stuff sorted out that cannot be helping your state of mind. Very stressful.

Went to London to see Billy Elliott yesterday it was brilliant!!! Had a fab day with my NCT mum friends dropped D off at 9.30 and didn't see him till this morning!!! That is the first time in 17 months we have been apart so long he is also dropping all his BF's so a bit sad about that.

I got DH a card from bump and I and one from D!! We picked him up from Heathrow as a suprise as he was going to get a taxi, finally he is here!!

Poor thing is crashed out in bed I guess I have to go give D some tea and get him to bed!

Hi all
Another lovely day here- we went to Avon Valley Country Park and played on all the big climbing things and saw all sorts of animals- we went on a little train and we rowed boats on the lake- it was HYSTERICAL- I am not very good at rowing :teehee:
I took some pics Ill see if i can stick a few in mums- although I honestly look like a Mammoth in them
Braxton Hicks have calmed down at last thank god- I was qute worried this morning but my neighbour whos a nurse says I should take it a bit easier- speaking of which I just spoke to Little Os mum and she is covered in pox spots but is happy in self today so shes coming tomorrow and we're having a "duvet day" she needs long naps and cant go to toddlers etc so Im quite looking forward to that!
I thought Shoppie was away- noticed her absence- whens she back?? I cant remember

15-06-2008, 08:50pm
I'm sure shoppie is away on hols... It sounds like everyone has had a good, adventurous weekends. We managed to get to a friends' BBQ as DD is basically scabbed over although I think she'll miss nursery tomorrow just in case as she still does have a few yucky spots. We had a lovely afternoon and even with no nap DD was a star  .

PP - try and put your feet up, you don't want to overdo things (although hard not to with 3 kids already and the CM ones  )

15-06-2008, 08:58pm
I think these last couple of weeks have been really busy actually- which is why Im suffering badly- what with DH gallivanting round Europe etc so Im going to try and have a "staying in" week (lets hope the weather doesnt stay nice :teehee: )
Dh is off to Ireland on Weds for just two days thank God so hopefully i wont get so tired this time.....
5 weeks til I go down to one client- that is my mantra at the mo- I just cant wait, however it also means just one more decent payday :zombie: then its countdown to Mat Leave and skint dom  ah well, cant wait to chill out and that means more than the money at the mo TBH.

Oooh that will be nice Pops (the one child thing not the skintdom thing  )

Lotty, I bet its soooooooooooooo nice to have your DH back after so long!

Yup, I think Shoppie is off all this week too

Sounds like everyone's had a good w/e!

Yeh for scan on Tuesday Myzz :ellie: Can't remember, are you finding out? have you found out on any of your others? I bet you get quite a pro at spotting everything by the time its your 4th!
I think Lottys is this week too :puzzled:

Puffy
15-06-2008, 09:42pm
I think Myzz is a no finder outerer!! I *think* she didnt find out with the others and doesnt intend to this time though dont quote me!!
I ave a random MW appt on tuesday :teehee: I havent seen them since 16 weeks so they said I could book a 25 week if I liked (despite fact i will only be 24 now theyve changed dates lol)
However I havent seen them since Downs Testing Gate so have a few words to say about that, and need to discss the Consultant Appt (wheer he hadnt even read the ref letter  ) and need to discuss Home Birth, and whether my GBS has actually vanished with the consultant taking off label- God he was a wazzock (being polite) I might ask to be referred to another one who actually READS the letter, looks at my perineum (which i am worried about) and my "prolapse risk" and everything else. Also I am meant to be havng a cervical biopsy at some point (high level pre cancerous cells) and the DR in that dept said it would be ok to do that at 6 months pg but I am rather unhappy about anyone doing anything to my cervix whilst Im pregnant- I think its *quite* important it stays shut

So just a few things then :teehee: :drama:

Oh and theyll need to start stabbing me with Anti D soon. Oh joy

Been very busy last week and have just done a run down of everything for this week and have another silly week. I may slow down at some point.
My mum was making some comments about "something she'd read" about stress being bad for baby in the last month. 1) I'm not in the last month and 2) I'm not stressed I'm just busy
Been at mum and dads since thursday which has been nice, but we were supposed to have been sorting out ours and J's bedroom today, but can't because they've buggered up the carpet in our room so are having to come back on wednesday to re-do it :hissyfit: :hissyfit: :hissyfit: :hissyfit:
Sounds like we've all been a bit busy. This pg with little ones things isn't easy. I've noticed a lot of BH's too. Its wierd, my sister who is 38 1/2 weeks says she hasn't felt any.
Bubs is feet down and every time I stand up from sitting or lying for a while I need to wee as its obviously stood on my bladder :hissyfit: :hissyfit:
:higgies: :higgies: to all those still on pant watch. I am as well. I don't think I'll really believe I'm actually having a baby until it arrives.

Shoppie has been away. I think she's back as it was Teddy's birthday BBQ thingy today. I got a text from her yesterday, they've had a great time by the sounds of things.

Hello girlies!

I'm Back! I haven't got time to read through all the history (sorry  ), but I thought I'd log on and post to say hi, then I can start checking in regularly and catching up properly

We had a lovely holiday (and it was Lyme Regis, so prize to Red  ), SO lucky with the weather - nothing but sun after weeks of rubbish weather in the UK :cheer2: We spent most mornings at the beach, Teddy has expanded his vocabulary lots with sand, castle, sea etc etc

Miffy kindly texted to wish T a happy birthday, his party was indeed yesterday and we had an absoltue houseful - about 12 toddlers and 25 adults :zombie: Thank God the weather held. I wouldn't recommend scheduling a party for the day after you get home from hols though!!

Am off to Uttoxeter with work for the next few days ( ), will try and pop on and catch up properly Weds night, if not Thurs.

Good luck with the scan Lotty, can't wait to hear your news :cheer2: I also have my 22 week scan on Fri.

Am off to see if my work PC will let me make one of thsoe maternity leave tickers so ta for the idea Peridot! :sunglasses: (not sure as lots of suites are banned)

No, what happened??? Did they think its a girl then? Ooh, how confusing!!! Are you going to get a 3D scan privately to verify which it is?

I have got 2 Mat Leave tickers - I don't completely finish for aaaaaaaaages, so I have one for my last 5 day week too  (I am using holiday to drop to 4 days per week from the back end of August)

:teehee: can you tell how excited we all are to finish work!?!

Basically at the scan she couldn't really see and said she would only say 55% a boy :brainache: so, I'm going with the fact that bubs is probably a boy but we can't be as certain so can't buy stuff etc. She said about the other scan that it was very early as as the baby had the umbilical cord firmly between legs at my 22 week scan then this could've been the same at 16 weeks.
I may have a 3d scan, I'm undecided atm. I'm quite relaxed about it which is strange as I was so desparate to know. I think I like that we more or less know but there will still be a bit of a surprise!

Aww I am giving up work on 29th August I think seeing as we get 9 months paid maternity leave now.

I don't know at the moment I have no Childcare as of next week as MIL is going back to hospital, mum goes back to Kuwait, friend starts a fulltime job and paid help won't do afternoons????!!!

So I am kind of stuck now I could work 5 mornings I guess but I need to be making some more money than I am to make it viable or work at home with Dexter????!!!!

Arrgggggghhhhhh!

Hurry up tomorrow I need to know pink or blue!

What time is your scan tomorrow? I think you are having a pink one!
I still have Thomas with me 1 afternoon a week when I work from home (used to be 2) and it's a nightmare!
Its not bad if he sleeps well for a couple of hours but I just feel bad trying to juggle looking after him and being on the laptop :meh: needs must I guess!

I dunno when my last day will be- the kids go back to school Sept 2nd I think and Bean will have a few weird weeks of settling in as is starting pre school, and Mali too as starting reception so ideally I need to be free for all that, so maybe last week August for me too..........

Glad you had a good time SHoppie, and Happy birthday Teddy!! Sounds like you had a lovely time
I must away now and get on with the cleaning- Little O is asleep and Bean watching Charlottes Web so I must do what I can while I can...........

I'm not sure with Lottie, my gut instinct was blue, but it keeps being messed about with by knowing how much you want a pink one

re: working from home - I used to be able to get away with having T with me ok, but tbh these days its pretty much impossible - I usually only do about 2 or 3 hours in total  I'm only still doing it sometimes/ getting away with it because both work and I know the situation will change soon. Shame really as its a ncie thing to be able to do when they are small :sigh:

Welcome back Shoppie, glad you had a fab holiday and T's birthday went well.

Lots of luck for your scan Myzz and L66TTY.

I did plan on starting mat leave 9th Sept but may move it forward a week as Nathan starts school 2nd Sept (half days the 1st week) and I want to be fully functional (ie not zombified through tiredness) for him.

Ohfor Gods Sake :brainache:
I have just been to the MW and I have been referred back to ANOTHER consultant to discuss my GBS, scarred perineum, threat of prolapse etc. the MW was FURIOUS with the last consultant that didnt even read the referral letter so has referred me to a new one, probably this monday. She was talking about possible caesereans again so now Im totally :puzzled:
DH is hopping mad- he wasnt there this morning but he is going in all guns blazing for the consultant he says it is ridiculous the conflicting information we are getting from all sides. I said wait and see what shesg got to say first please.

Good luck all with scans today- I vote Blue for Lotty

Viper and Myzz--you ARE mad!!! I dont know how I am going to get thru July much less August and September! (Mind you I am hands on all day with young children, lifting them, etc...though Myzz has kids too!!)

L66TY: Good luck today! I think its pink!

Been to GP for general feeling crap and I have a UTI. Not convinced thats the entire problem though as I suspect I have a cold on the way too. :-( Called in to my temp job this morning with only 3 days left and feel really guilty but needs must and I need rest. Out to dinner with DH tonight as our anniversary is tomorrow but he has to work.

Hope everyone else is having a good day!

Same here...are we mad myzz?

Me three!!! I think my last day will be 19th September on which day I will be 36+6! Right now I feel like I could do another week on top of that but I know that last time I planned on working up to 38 weeks but had to stop at 37 as I was shattered those last couple of weeks!

Oooh, I can't wait for Lotty to report in with her news, I'm thinking another blue one as well for some reason, based on no facts, just a 'feeling'!!

I'm all good in the hood, had a nice weekend, we took Jacob down to Tenterden for "A day out with Thomas the Tank Engine" and he absolutely LOVED it!! I think he was rather overcome with it all though, the look on his face was a 50:50 mix of terror and delight all day

Shoppie, glad you had a good holiday :thumb:

Right, I'm crud and can't remember anyone else's news so I'm gonna go and do some more work!! :teehee: Sorry I'm rubbish guys!!!

I am working til the end of sept - hopefully. Thats the plan, anyway. That then gives me 2 or 3 weeks before we go in for the section.

Not sure if I am mad or just realy realy worried about money.

Any ideas HR bods? I haven't worked since October last year (apart from odd little cash in hand things) and am hoping a contract will come of that starts next month until end of Sept. Will I ahve paid enough NI etc to claim maternity allowance? I am assuming not but one friend seems to think I will

Just hope my house sells before bubs is born!

Vipes have you got any holiday you could add on to the end? That is what I did last time! So my maternity leave actually started at 39 weeks but I had been off for a while as it was Christmas and I took holiday for the inbetween bit from Christmas to new year. It worked out really well.

To be honest Maternity Leave without the baby is pretty boring and the really need very little when they first arrive!

Oooo Peridot I am dying to know what baby Peridot is. Come on October!

I know!! Just got back from the doctors - I had found a small lump down below and had been really worried about it, doc says its just a cyst though and it will be fine :thumb: anywayyyyyyy to cheer me up she said shall we listen to babies heart beat. I was slightly reluctant as they couldn't find it last time but she found it straight away and it was 160 bpm, I'm sure there is supposed to be some indiction in the heart beat as to boy or girl :scratchchin: Its prob just an old wives tale though!!

Enjoy your chocolate Lotty :choc: there's nothing wrong with having a preference, its not like your baby is now unloved or unwanted etc. Of course you will love your DS2 just as much as DS1 or any other baby but I know you did want a pink one!
Just think of how close your 2 boys will be :lurve:

I'm starting maternity leave early this time as last time I really started to suffer from 34 weeks onwards when my pre-eclampsia started so I just wanted to give myself some more rest this time. Plus, because I had pre-eclampsia and had to be induced I ended up with no maternity leave at all!!!

Peridot, you are so patience not having another scan.... i would phone babybond and get them to re-scan you for free. They said it was a boy and you paid for a gender scan.... worth a go???

Hi all
Congrats Lotty- two boys together are just magical I promise!!My two are so close they are like twins(but then that could be my age gap- "Irish Twins" it is called in Ireland  )

Do you know what- I cant even be bothered to be pissed off about my consultant issues- I jsut said to my neighbour (an ex nurse with 4 kids, one c-section, 3 natural) that at the end of the day i want a healthy baby and a healthy me however that comes to be  If thats a C Section, or it falls out in Tesco there but for the grace of God go I. Im a firm believer in in everythimg happens for a reason and I will just go with the flow. The MWs also want to change my date back so I might be be 25 weeks on Friday yet :faint: I said to the MW shall we just go for the middle and go for the 5th :teehee:

I have agreed my Maternity Leave with Little O's mum  Last week of August will be my last week so 29th August last day :ellie:
I keep thinking Im going to be "bored" with 5 weeks til due date but who am I trying to kid! I will still have a school run at 9, 11.30 and 3.30 and will be like a whale by then!! Also Bean may not actually start preschool until October as he is one of the older ones and last year they got the younger ones in first so who knows when he'll actually start :loco:
It also means Ill have time for pedicures, reflexology, swimming and all those other things I never got round to before :cheer2: Also NO DOUBT I will end up doing a few days work for people

Plus, all I remember from last time, from about 33 weeks onwards is wanting to sleep as much as possible.
I had reflexology at work today (we get free manicures & reflexology at work as a treat :thumb: ) and was told I was very dehydrated and need to make sure I drink more water.
She said all seems well where the baby is and bubs was kicking like mad  she also did this thing where she sort of craddled my heels and said this should help my sciatic nerve, which is good!

I NEARLY booked a pedicure today but didnt as I simply have no time- I have NO kid free time at all in the week and dont want to leave DH with the kids on a Saturday as I like spending time us all together

Myzz will school do anything to lessen your workload if you are planning on working on til sept?

Peridot do you have a pain in the bum cheek (!) - is that the sciatic nerve? One side of mine can be terrible - a sharp pain when I walk sometimes - not all the time.

:higgies: Pops, I don't know how you cope as a CM, a Mum of 3 and with your DH being away, I'd be a state!

:higgies: Lotty, I'm sorry you are so upset. I don't think you will feel like this for long though & you mustn't feel guilty. You can't help that you wanted a girl & that is what you were looking forward to.
Yes, of course a healthy baby is the most important thing but there's nothing wrong with feeling the way you do. I do find it strange to get my head around the fact I may never be mother to a daughter. I did find it strange when I was 1st told that this baby was a boy that I won't get to pick out all the cute baby girl clothes etc. I also think it felt weird that I didn't have to worry about picking pretty girls names (sound :loco: I know)
but, I actually find it hard now to think that I may not have the little boy I have spent the last 6 weeks bonding with. I felt slightly upset about getting rid of my 2nd blue ticker and making it a neutral one again.
You will get used to the idea very quickly.
I started looking out for parents that had 2 of the same and they always looked so cute together :lurve:
I love the though of not just having 2 boys as babies but 2 grown up sons who want to look after there mum (think Peggy Mitchell & Phil & Grant  )
I do like the thought of being the only girl in my house hold with my boys to protect me & still being my DH's number 1 girl (I know I still sound :loco: :teehee: )

I am so close to my sister and I don't know any brother/sister combination that are as close as 2 of the same :happyno: DH only has 1 sister and yes they get on but no where near the way me & my sister do. Don't get me wrong, we fought like cat & dog when we were growing up and occasionally still do :teehee: but we are so close.

I hope you are feeling okay, what did the mw say?

Hi girls,

I'm back from my travels again! Lots to catch up on despite it only being a few days!

Viper/ myzzt etc I'm finishing work on 3 Oct!!! I'll be 37 weeks, having the baby at 39 weeks. I am nervous about it, but I'm dropping to 4 days per week (no Weds) at the end of Aug, which will hopefully take the pressure off. I really want as long as possible with the baby

Lotty - I'm sorry you are feeling so blue about it. You do need to give yourself some time, and also to remind yourself that it IS normal to feel the way you do - there have been countless threads about 2 the same. I cna't pretend to understand it, but it is clearly so so common

I'm totally knackered - was up at 5.30 am on Tues, and awake playing stupid team games until gone midnight. Is it just me or is it ridiculous they thought I could cope with that??? :puzzled: Given my boss knows all the problems I've had with the baby's condition etc...

Helcatt

Viper - yes, we will be finding out - if this one will play ball, that is. LIttle miss is so convinced she is going to have a lttle sister that we thought it best to make sure. If it is a boy we can then get her used to the idea. Don't want to bring a boy home abd have her say that she doesn't want it, where is her sister!

Am I the next scan? Has everyone else had theirs now? This time next week, I will know for sure - I hope.

Looks like the contract I was after will come off :yay: Full time july and august, three days a week for sept (probably the first 3 weeks only) so that really works well for me as I will be able to slow down a bit through sept and then have 3 weeks off before the the section. Will be settling little miss into nursery in sept aswell. Only part time but better than nothing.

Was supposed to be doing paperwork this eve but I broke my rule and decided to Damsel instead. I will be good for the rest of the week, until Ofted have left on monday and I can breath a sigh of relief.

Was talking over stuff with a friend today and she thinks that I sound really well organised, which is helping to put my mind at ease a little bit.

This baby has been really really busy today. Lots of dancing sessions. Am quite enjoying it at the moment, apart from the trampolining on the bladder bit!

GTT came back all clear. I had a letter telling me to have the tests done at again at 28 weeks and then they booked the appt for 29 weeks?!?!?!?!?!!?

Dh thinks I shouldn't bother. This is the healthiest I ahve ever been (whilst being pg) and thinks starving myself for the sake of the test is not good. If I am maintaining weight alright, I think I won't bother but if I am gaining and getting swollen again, then I will. 9 weeks to decide anyway.

Good Morning all
feeling a bit better today- Dh is back tomorrow and I dont start work until 11.30 today (despite needing to take my own kids to school :teehee:)
I am supposed to be going to the high street with my mate this morning as I only have Bean but I would prefer to stay in and do some cleaning/tidying TBH, and get tea doen for tonight so I dont have to rush about doing it when I have 5 kids here after school.
oooh decisions.

I get a feeling I am going to have to ring the mw today and poke them in terms of my consultant appt next week- I also bet it wont be next week but fingers crossed a letter comes today....

PP - glad you are feeling better :higgies: Hope you manage to get somewhere re: the consultant.

Helcatt - my major abnormality scan is actually tomorrow, but obviously I already know the gender because of the extra scans for spina bifida. It will still be nice to be triply(!) sure, and I'm looking forward to measuring all the other bits and bobs, without any stress about the spine

Nothing very exciting from me this morning, but my scan is bright and early tomorrow am so will try and get on to post a piccie when I am back at work.

Lotty, sorry you are feeling sad:hug:
I have said before, I felt exactly the same way after my scan and posted a similar thread to you. I promise you, it won' t take long and you will be looking forward to the arrival of a little boy. I wouldnt swap mine with a girl now, and i can't wait to meet Sebastian's little brother.
The thing that really pxxsed me off, was when people said "oh well you will just have to try for a girl next time":hissyfit: :hissyfit: I am not even sure we want a 3rd child, and I would definantly not have a 3rd child just to try for a girl.
Why don't you go shopping and buy your little new one a lovely blue outfit............ I have bought a couple (well more than that actually:happyno: ) of boys baby outfit and they are so cute:lurve: I have also gone through all of Sebastian's old stuff and it made me feel all:lurve: :lurve: inside thinking I can use his stuff again.
Start thinking of a name for your baby boy..... that will help too..... any ideas yet??? Dexter is a lovely name:smile:

Went out with my girlfriends last night and wasnt back until after midnight:zombie: :zombie:
Pregnancy is really boring now..... got nothing scheduled until mw appointment in week 29.
Only 3 weeks until we go on 3 weeks holiday to Denmark:ellie: :ellie: can't wait.

this is really cute: last night Sebastian said " I love mummy and daddy and my little brother Mathias:lurve: :lurve:

I think that's half my problem I can't think of any boys names I love only girls.

Defo not ready for shopping I drove past a shop yesterday with a little dress in the window and was in bits again.

I know its bad to feel this way but I have imagined since I was 16 that I would always have 2 children a boy first and then a girl I think I am still in shock that I will be having two boys.

DH and I are like ships that pass in the night as he is still working Canadian hours and I am working in the mornings when he is around so haven't really had a chance to chat with him at all. He doesn't want 3 children and presently neither do I as I am terrified of having yet another boy.

On a good note pee and BP all good, my big little man is an absolute cutie despite waking me up with a poo filled nappy at 3am.

I can't wait for 1pm when I finish work for the day so I can see him again.

I feeling really tired today, looking forward to a nice realxing evening!

Hope you're feeling a bit better this evening Lotty :higgies: I don't think I ever thought about what children I'd end up with when I was younger although I'd always, always presumed I'd have a big family and am now not sure this will be possible, especially with the whole credit crunch. I'm okay about it atm but I wonder how I'll feel in a years time, i don't really want to have too much off a massive age gap between my kiddies but not sure of any way round it atm.
TBH, in some ways I think this might be a good reason not to find out because then you get to bond with the baby once it's born. I honestly think you'll be fine about it all soon
Digging out Dexter's old stuff is a good idea. When I went through Thomas's old stuff I was so :lurve: with it all!

Hi all,

Myzz, step away from the b/feeding thread a RELAX... I completely agree with you and you are being v reasonable IMO. I don't even bother posting on those as it tends to be a bit US and THEM and it really doesn't need to be. I mixed fed DD from quite early on and will give b/feeding a go but we'll just see.

SiL had a little girl this morning 7lb10oz called Amy :ellie:. It's a bit of a surprise because everyone thought she was having a boy, no reason just the vibe... Amy was on our girls name list but we've happily given it up .

I had to have a gtt last time but it was OK, I think it was the mars bar I had eaten before I went in to see the mw when I had my bloods done . Off to see the mw on Wed for a 24 week check anh hopefully get my Matb1 - first class on the train here I come!! - Does that work for the rest of the London commuters? My train provider give you a letter to say you can go in first class on busy trains for no extra cost.

What's for dinner PP - curry??

Good luck with the scan shoppie!

I got a lovely black sundress from New Look this week - its got crocheted (sp?) straps (which are just thick enough to wear a bra, but not too thick to feel covered up) and bit round the neck and then its empire line, with a tie at the back - and a bargain at £20!!! Let me see if its on their website...

Its not on there, but they did have this one in the picture as well (which is not in the dresses section! ) and it looked equally as nice:

Hi girls

All well with the scan, and everything that was measured is looking fine (we didn't look at the spine as decided at the 17 week scan). We also got another definite shot of his boy bits  Sadly the photos are really a bit crap, DH has nicked the best one to show work, so I'll post it tonight but its a bit crap :ohno: My placenta is low-lying i.e. over the exit, so I am having ANOTHER scan at 34 weeks to see if it has moved or not. This may be the most scanned baby ever!

I then saw the consultant MW, they have basically said I can see the MW and come in for a scan or to listen to baby's heartbeat whenever I feel like it so that's nice  *If* the placenta shifts up, I have also pretty much decided that I will give induction a go between 38 and 39 weeks. They won't use the cervix gel, but they can try and break waters, give me a sweep etc and if the cervix is favourable give me the drip thing. At any point I can say 'no thanks - c-section' so it seems to me at least this way I can say to myself that I have tried my very best

I have a lovely sundress kiki but bought it on line so not much use to you I'm afraid!

Hi Shopster!! Great news about your bubba- God I CANT WAIT to "meet" all our babies and watch them grow- I feel like I know them all so well already *sniffles* Actually Im an emotional WRECK today- my friend down the road came back from Australia this morning- shes only been gone 3 weeks and its a "new" friendship- I think weve had about 4 "dates" (coffee etc) and I burst into sniffles when I saw her as I was SO pleased shes back :teehee: I really missed her- she has a 14 week old baby so had her just after I found out I was pg. Spent a lovely morning at her house and we are going out ffor pizza next week :ellie:

Interesting about the placenta covering the exit- mine is too and I just assumed it WOULD move- I have another scan at 32 weeks to see. My consultant appt came today  Its on Monday so I am sort of looking forward to that (despite the fact that I have to get my bits out so the consultant can peer at them to work out if they are "fit for designated use" or not :teehee:)

Oh and curry has lost its crown- I appear to be completely obsessed with PASTA at the moment, especially with tomato, basil and garlic sauce. Now I NEVER eat pasta- it just doesnt occur to me to use it as a meal- its what kids eat :teehee: but I had it for tea last night and lunch today :puzzled:
Have to go to the airport in 45 mins to collect DH. i am then going to sit on him and not allow him to leave the country ever again

Viper - I don't think everyone gets boob leakage. I got a tiny bit of leakage on a handful of occasions las time, form around 28 weeks if I recall correctly :puzzled: This time I've had no leakage, but I give them a squeeze occasionally and where I sued to get milk off (despite giving up BFing a year before conceiving again :brainache: ), I now get colostrum.

TBH, I don't think I'd have known how to milk myself before learning to BF Teddy

We still keep changing our minds re: name, and I'm very impatient for winter baby clothes to come in the shops as I want to buy him an outfit but a summer one would be pointless :hissyfit: When do you think the autumn stuff will come in? I've noticed the sales have started

I actually was only about half a stone off target when I fell pg and I spent the first trimester trying to be really carefull.
The last few weeks I ahve turned into a pig and started eating chocolate again.

Dh got in the car today and was moaning that I ahdn't cleared the front seat of rubbish. He then commented on the Mars bar wrapper and said "is this you or baby wanting chocolate?" to which I replied that it wasn't me, I don't eat Mars bars. A little voice from the back of the car, very cheekily said "yes you do mummy!"

Little grass, I have no chance of hiding anything from dh with her around

Great news about your scan Shoppie!!

I was under the impression that the 3rd trimester started at 26 weeks :brainache: How can we find out for sure? Or do different books/professionals have different calculations?

I have a cold...AGAIN. Only had one the week before last. I was really suffering yesterday but seems to be getting better...the worst thing is not being able to breathe at all and not being able to take anything either!

On the issue of weight: Bloody hell! I am starving all the freaking time! This is normal I gather...but I am eating much larger portions and more often as well. This cold has slowed me down a bit. I weighed myself the other day and have gained 23 pounds since I was last weighed (11 weeks)...is that bad??

I went to the m/w yesterday. I really didnt like this one so I hope I dont get her in the delivery room but I bet I will....sods law. She didnt ask me if I had any questions and didnt really take the time to listen to me at all. Maybe because it was 5:30 and I was 30 mins late for my appt  SO I couldnt ask her about anything.

I am having aching/pains in my back and pelvis, esp when laying or sitting. I cannot get comfy to sleep either....should I worry?

Viper: I am leaking colostrum and have been since 20 weeks...but only if I sqeeze  Lots more comes out now but not on its own.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Last time I weighed myself I had gained 18 pounds which I'm quite pleased with although I feel like I look as though I've gained 4 stones!
I'd be happy to put on about 3 stone in the whole pregnancy as that is near enough half of what happened last time

Sorry about your row Lotty :higgies:
Me & DH had a huge row last weekend and I'm so fricken hormonal atm I found it took so much out of me, just so tiring!
I'm sure you'll sort things out soon enough though, well once he has felt a little more guilty  :higgies:

Have forced DH to take T to the garden centre for half an hour so I'm off to have a bath - Thomas is sooooooooooooo clingy to me at the moment - its :lurve: & :hissyfit: as he just follows me everywhere!

PP - were you tihnking of just garlic or something to go with too...?

Lotty, hope you are OK - me and DH aren't big arguers but I am more touchy at the mo and more likey to give off to him  .

I've been eating loads of cereal, I had branflakes this morning actually!

Myzz - sorry you are still sick I hope the magic sepia starts to make a difference.

I think I've gained about 18lbs too and like Peridot I'm quite pleased as I gained more last time. HC I've also started to let choccies and crap back into my diet which I do need to get under control as I don't want to put on loads of flab in the last trimester.

grotty, drizzly day here but I think we will pop off to the big M&S and Sainsburys to get a bit of shopping. I might even try and buy a bikini for the holiday.

Are there any rules about getting the bump in the sun?

Bump is def starting to feel more uncomfortable and I think it won't be long before the pg lady waddle starts :happyno: .

DH and DD have gone to seek out a bday pressie for her mate then he is dropping her at a friends to go to said bday party.....
Mali is in the playroom watching a power rangers dvd and Bean and I are lying here in the front room on the sofa watching Enchanted with a MASSIVE bowl of toffee popcorn :ellie: (we decanted some for Mali first) and I have told DH to fully expect all 3 of us to be asleep by the time he gets back :teehee:
I feel absolutely wiped out- not "ill" per se but just so tired from the week. luckily I got all the washing done prior to the weekend and DH has vacuumed and mopped all of downstairs this morning so there is loads of housework I *could* do but nothing that I MUST do IYSWIM

I am already waddling too! Just had a MASSIVE braxton Hick again with a real pushing feeling down below :zombie:
Right- quick ramble about food again....
Just had a massive urge for fish, so frog marched DH off to Waitrose where we bought some cod, and all sorts of yummy stuff and came home and had baby new Anya potatoes, cod with olive oil, GARLIC and lemon, steamed veg and peppers from the olive counter- the pepperdew ones in oil and chilli and stuff- yum, oh and the obligatory garlic naan  It was only when I served it up that DH was a bit ???? abpout garlic naan randomly with that meal- ate it though!! I am now looking forward to my meringue nests, strawberries and cream :lurve:

Had a really funny moment in Waitrose actually- I was stood looking at the cream cakes in the fridge, and another woman came and stood next to me and we both just stood there, staring at the cakes.....we then turned round, looked at each other and both our eyes travelled to each others bellies and we were both similarly pregnant :teehee: we both absolutely CRACKED up as both our DHs came round the corner looking bemused at why their wives were doubled up sniggering by the cake fridge  it was hilarious

I don't normally argue with DH and it was really an accident. I am very ranty at the moment and I guess he didn't need it first thing in the morning he was moaning about the amount of electricity 4 phones would use (as I had got 2 from my mum whilst he was away) and I told him to F off! So he threw him knife down and it smashed the plate! I was cheesed off as the only phone downstairs was in the study and when i am looking agter kids I need one in the kitchen and the lounge so i don't have to leave the room I am in!

I can count on one hand how many arguments we have had in 5 years I think severe lack of sleep and adjusting to living together after 6 weeks apart was mainly to blame for this one.

He still hasn't appologised he is working again tonight so I am off to bed and hoping his comes up before I fall asleep.

Oh well only 2 more weeks of this stupid working arangement personally I wish he had just stayed in Cananda as the situation at home is crap with m working in the mornings and him working all afternoon and evening till 2am or so we have no family time at all.

I hate having my weekends in limbo too! Oh well race for life next weekend seriusly doubting my ability to run it now I would of been able to when Pregnant with D but this time I am not as fit and really feeling it!

So when do I have my 4D scan same time as with D 36 weeks or earlier????

Have to say, me & DH are both so feisty we row alot and always have for 10 years now!!!! Usually over nothing so, we both just hate admitting to be wrong  & I think we both just love a good row  Our arguements don't last for long though.
You just have to remember that some things really aren't worth falling out for & I can't imagine the strain on you both with your DH having to be away so much atm!
My Dad gave me some valuable advice on my wedding day - never to go to bed on an arguement (he said to stay up and fight instead :teehee:) but its something we try and stick to!

Hope everyone's having a good wekend, I'm so tired today, am having cat naps whenever I get a sec !!

evening all

Not a lot to report here- dyed my hair this morning- unmitigated disaster as per usual, but ho hum. Tended my lady garden in preperation for the consultant tomorrow- she *should* be having a rootle around down there so it was only polite to spruce it up for visitors :teehee:
DH took the kids swimming, I dropped them off and tootled round asda unencumbered for a while..... came back and we had all sorts of plans involving walks, and trips to pub but Mali and Bean fell asleep so we have been playing Wii all afternoon and just chilling, and Simon appears to have cooked tea RESULT!!!
Feel a bit ambiguous about consultant appt, am half expecting her to say c- section, do not pass go, do not collect £200 or on the other hand she might say stop whinging, fanny looks great, get on with it.......... I wonder what she'll change my due date to this time

Don't do it. I let dh loose on mine first time I was pg and it was an unmitigated disaster. I was so embarrassed when I ahd to get my bits out. I usually go for a leg and bikini line wax but havn't been for a while. It was agony last time and I am just thinking that it will be worse seeing as the growth is that much more. Might have to shave it all off and get waxed in 4 weeks. But I can't see what I am doing.

I am going to do a bump pic. I really need reasurance. People keep looking at me, really suprised when I say I am pg. I think I am obviously pg now so I really don't get it! I need you all to tell me I don't look like a big fat heffer

I am doing well on the waddle front. I think that will start soon but I was waddling by 16 weeks last time, and my hips were killing me then aswell, so coping much better this time.

Dh is still on late shifts so I wont see him until tuesday really. He said he will take E off my hands but if he is on lates, there is no way he will be up until lunchtime, so its not like I will get a lie in or anything. But an afternoon off is better than nothing.

SOoooooo consultant this morning........my perineum scars have been playing up really badly and TMI***** are currently red raw so hopefully she'll have something to assess  Bump really aching and sleeping is getting harder and harder. 4 weeks til summer holidays when I lose most of my clients so I feel like Im halfway up that mountain. Just a bit peed off that I have to take a mindee to the consultant with me (and Beanie) but hey, thats the life of the self employed  Luckily DH is taking a bot of time off this week so he will be there with me. I have to stop him laying into the consultant about our treatment so far though, as she is the one thats rectifying it (hopefully) and not the perpertrator (sp)

One a good news note I finally got hold of my hairdresser so should have a nice head of braids next weekend (am not looking forward to the 8 odd hours on my bum though)

Hi girls

Told Nathan about being pg on Saturday. I did want to wait another couple of weeks but he keeps telling me that my tummies getting big :yeahright: so thought it'd be an ideal way of telling him about the baby growing inside.

He's taken it well (after an initial, 'You're joking aren't you Mummy?') and now keeps kissing my bump and putting his ear to it to see what he can hear. So, so cute. He did ask me (loudly) in the gym cafe how the baby was going to get out  I just said a doctor would help me when the baby had grown big enough.

I haven't taken any bump pics yet, I didn't with Nathan either  I don't know how to get them off the camera onto the pc so will get DH to show me so I can do it without him knowing. He'd think I was :loco:

2 more nights to work (Mon/Tues) and then I am off on annual leave until 7th July :cheer2: Have another week booked in August and then will be on mat leave from early Sept. Not many shifts left to do.

What's this fab conditioner then Pops? I've got one with ';febreze effect' which is lovely but am open to other tried and tested ones.

Saw the mw on Fri. She measured my stomach (perfect for dates) but didn't listen to the heartbeat as baby was wriggling away. I haven't heard it yet :-( Am very tempted to buy/rent a doppler to listen at home. I want to know the rate to see if the old wives tale is true re heart rate. It was for Nathan.

My maternity uniforms have finally been ordered, lovely sack like tunics with ties at the back...Great! :yeahright: Have been out this morning and bought some stretchy mat trousers to wear with them. Not something I'd wear out of work but they'll do.

Hi all

Hope it goes well with the consultant PP.......

Have posted a separate thread about my GTT but not looking great.......

Peridot - had to go smack Euwyn's bottom last night as he was having full-on temper tantrum - screaming, stamping, throwing things, kicking the stairgate (so hard I thought he was going to push the fecking thing off & come down with it........) thankfully he seemed to have woken up in a better mood this morning although still being a demanding little so & so......

my bump is humongous (one of the reasons for the GTT) but I was putting it down to being number 4:puzzled:

Myzz- sorry to hear about the gtt--fingers still crossed for you though! :higgies: I think I may have missed the thread but why do they suspect you have it. Just wondering as my bump is enormous (according to friends we saw yesterday) and they found keatones in my urine. Midwife never mentioned GD though so I didnt worry at the time...

As for that lady hair  I am shaving blind. No way am I trusting DH and no way am I getting a wax!!

We went to a friend of the family's 70th yesterday...I kept getting comments like 'is the baby big for her age'... Didnt do much for my self esteem or feeling more like a whale than I already do. Overall, not a good day but think I will post in grief & recovery...

Banana - when I had my detail scan last week, the sonographer was concerned about the amniotic fluid level as it is higher than normal.....
She also mentioned that splat is very big for dates.......

She went to speak to the mw/doctors & they referred me straight for a GTT.......

(although when I look at the bump pics of the rest of the October Mummies, I really don't think my bump is that big in comparison & I've only put on a stone..... :puzzled: )

well hello all!!!
sooooo back from the consutant again. Fantastic consultant- she expalined all about the GBS- the guidlelines HAVE changed again, its just not filtered down to the mws yet  and they WONT give anti biotics "just in case" but also they wont test as any30% of people have it anyway, and out of that 30% only 30% will be affected IYSWIM.....anyway she explained it all and Im ok about that now.......
She also discussed my *ahem* prolapse risk and joy of joys she actually had a look  never thought Id be so pleased when someone asked me t take off my bottoms and hop on the bed :teehee: anyway I have something- I cant remember what its called and TBH CBA to go in the kitchen and get my notes to check but the front wall is collapsing a bit (evident when I coughed on command) but they wont do anything about it- she aid it will actually make delivery easier :brainache: and then they can do something about it afterwards if needs be, but only if I decide my family is complete, so I guess theyre talking taking the lot out :zombie: . She also had a look at my scars and they are sore and split :faint: but once again if anything it will aid delivery and they will just go with it in terms of tearing/episiotomy and deal with it afterwards however it needs dealing with.
She did say however that with the wall thingy I do need to REST!!! and I made her repeat it for DH :teehee: If it gets worse pre baby they can do something to fix it a bit but hopefully wont come to that

Soooooooo how do I feel??? I feel VERY positive that I have been listened to. She was fantastic compared to that TWAT that I saw before, and both her and the midwife werent remotely surprised that I was a re-referral after seeing him  SO all systems go for a normal delivery.......have moved onto serious talks with DH about home birth- I too an a fast birther and have a morbid fear of having it at home unplanned, so I think I would prefer to plan to have it at home and transfer if needs be, other than be unprepared at home IYSWIM.................

Mine go from extremes of - oh your bump looks tiny (which I actually find quite offensive as I'm sure I didn't look this way 24 weeks ago :yeahright: ) to - wowwwwwwwwww can't believe you still have 16 + weeks to go

Sorry to hear about your results Myz, I don't know too much about it tbh but hope it is something that can be controlled or will settle down!

I must admit banana, I'm afraid I think bump coments are part and parcel of being pregnant. I think they are usually just people feeling they need to say something and not knowing what (what's wrong with 'you look blooming I don't know! ) I get you're big for your stage to your tiny for your stage on the same day sometimes :loco:

bean was measuring big at the scan Fri, and Peridot she showed me where my uterus stops and it was definitely well above my belly button already :brainache: , so you could well be getting kicked up there. It was interesting actually as he's head down and rammed right as low as he can get, which explains my cervix being so much more painful than last time, he is bouncing on it

Peridot - what is spray on veet stuff? I'm a shaver through and through, so I'm really clueless

Peridot - what is spray on veet stuff? I'm a shaver through and through, so I'm really clueless

Its hair removal cream but comes in a can like shaving foam would.
You just spray it on (which is quite handy when you can't reach down there  )
Leave it on for 10 minutes and wash it off with a little sponge it comes with.
Its supposed to remove the hair completely, I usually use it on holiday on my legs as I hate shaving, am convinced it ruins my tan
It has never got rid of all the hair though but just leaves it looking very trim IYKWIM :cool2:
I think it helps with the regrowth being thinner as well.
I would've done it at least a week or so before my csection as I had already been in hospital for a week by then.

Its so weird the GD thing- there seems to be no rhyme or reason. Im a fatty, and my babies are BIG (7lb 15 smallest, 9lb 7 largest) but no ones even mentioned it. Do they just test for it as a matter of course in the urine dip jobby?? I cant believe how little I know about it

myzzterri
23-06-2008, 08:06pm
the urine testing is one reason to give you a GTT - in my case it was cos the sonographer was concerned over both the high level of amniotic fluid & the size of splat........

Also I'm not that surprised at getting it - just said to DH that I always knew my metabolism was going to be screwed up in later life (I hitch-hiked round the country following rock bands around in my late teens - far too much alcohol & not enough food - I could go for days on fags & a couple of bits of toast - not trying to starve myself I hasten to add - just the way it was.......) I was just expecting to suddenly put on a ton of weight & not be able to shift it - diabetes didn't enter my head.....
Plus I'm afro-caribbean origin - higher risk in the first place....

Ah well

Myzz so sorry to hear that they may be putting the kybosh on your homebirth perhaps they can get it under control so its not an issue.

I have a lucazade test at 26 weeks I think its standard with my hospital you don't have to starve yourself, just have a blood test, drink a precise amount of lucazade original have another blood test an hour later. I think or was it drink lucazade then have blood test??? Anyways if you get dodgy results after that you have to do the starvation test. Does everyone else not get that then??

Oh I asked my midwife about the MATB1 she said it had changed very recently and you can't get it till 24 weeks you can just book a GP appointment and get it though if you can't see a MW.

Went swimming this afternoon with D it was great he had loads of lessons when he was younger and he after initially being scared he really started to love it and even let go for the first time with his ne armbands he looked so chuffed with himself and whilst he was a little frightend he gave the best hugs!!

I put on lots of weight with D but he was tiny 6lb 10oz I read something about if you ate loads of crap you got fat whilst baby stayed small!!! Whooops!!!

Wonder what weight this one will be????

Great news on your Wizards Sleeve PP (that is a joke I think your tough enough to take it in the spirit its meant!!)

I am pooping myself about tearing again as that was the worst thing about my birth last time being stitched up on my living room floor. NOT doing that again will demand that I go to my bed!

All this kicking is amazing my placenta was at the front last time and I couldn't feel half as much.

Lady Garden I just use a mirror in the shower!???

Hi billy no-mates  :teehee:

Lotty I don't have to do the lucazade test.
I've got blood tests at 28 weeks and have been told to eat beforehand so I think this is the reason.
Urgh, the thought of another blood test makes me feel queezy, I hate them!

24 wks tomorrow :woohoo:

Oh forgot to ask Pops, did the consultant change your date again?

Lotty - its weird how all the helath authorities seem to have different rules isn't it, mine gives the MatB1 from 20 weeks :loco:

I am having a GTT this time too, she mentioned getting it done after my next MW appointment which is at 28 weeks or something. I remember a second batch of bloods last time, those haven't been mentioned this time yet though

MW was fine today, a tiny bit of protein in my wee though I don't know what that means and it was just left  Baby's heartbeat found with no problem, though I could feel him kicking anyway as I'd just eaten :teehee: I also have my MatB1 - its not very exciting in itself is it, but nice to have so I can send it off and tick another box on my pregnancy progress chart!

Is viable 24 weeks or 25 does anyone know? Either way, some of the babies must be viable now! :cheer2: (though obviously we want them to stay put for a while yet!!)

25 I think- 24 they will "take measures to cant think of a nice way to put it" but 25 is viable viable IYSWIM.
Had a hideous shitey day- just far to busy with my double clients but only 3 more Tuesdays this busy!! also see my "Cold Feet" thread (which Im just about to update after speaking to Simon) so I am REALLY looking forward to dinner out tonight with my friend L- also had a really long snuggle in the park with her 15 week old daughter who is just beautiful so that made me feel a bit better :lurve:
finish work in 20 mins then have to drive across town to pick up DH *violins*

No mention of a GTT here either- all I know is that they are going to start sticking massive needles in my arse as of nex appt for my anti ds.....
Consultant didnt change EDD, just gave me a massive lecture about how accurate the scans are, and I bit my tongue so as not to give her a lecture about how accurate DTD to TTC is :teehee: and how I KNOW when things were a-happening IYSWIM

Seems that 20% survive at 23 weeks but lots more at 24 weeks and even more at 25 weeks.

Either which way I want mine to stay put a heck of a lot longer than that pretty please!

How old was Brett when he was bron Myzz he was pretty tiddly wasn't he?

Hello all..

Not much going on here. I will be a busy bee from next week. Got the contract I was after so am really pleased. Gives me a chance to put some cash away and then I have an assurance policy that matures in sept so will be fine to get all the bits we need for this one. Not that I need much after hunting through my mums loft and seeing how much we kept.

Find out tomorrow if this is a boy or girl. My sis wanted me to deal with the clothes NOW as they are in her room and she is moving back to mums for a few months but I wanted to wait until after the scan

I have just taken a bump pic so will go and post it in a mo so please please have a look and tell me what you think. Bear in mind, I was overweight before this started and have put on approx 1 stone. 3.5kg since 13 weeks so thats 1/2 a stone in 8 weeks? don't think thats too bad, is it?

Lots of wriggles and kicks so I ahve no need to worry about this little one. E had loads of quiet moments and I worried alot, but then, I think she was kickng the Crap out of the placenta most of the time.

Lotts - Brett was born at 36 weeks (6lb 3 btw)

Euwyn was the tiddler - 26 weeker & 2lb 7 (which was actually a fantastic weight:nod: was pretty much his initial birth weight that saved him......)
He was one of the NICU success stories - not that he was the earliest to survive because they're actually one of the best in the country, but that he had no real problems.........

Oh & my milestone is 28 weeks - we were given a 50/50 chance with Euwyn, but at 28 weeks there's a 95% survival rate:nod:

I have my MATB1 form now.......

who was it that was having a glucose test without starving? I really don't understand how that would show anything because they won't have any real baseline for your glucose levels in the first place:puzzled: so all a bit pointless (from my Biochem pov......)

Anyway - I've had a really positive first diabetic clinic today - the diabetic obstetrician was fab.....
Although he'd prefer me to be a hospital birth, he totally understands & says that as long as I'm controlling the condition through diet & we can therefore get Splat's size under control, he can't see any reason why I can't have a homebirth:thumb: :ellie: :cheer2:
I met a whole raft of people & I now have a glucose monitoring system...... I have to test my blood glucose 7 times a day:shock: :faint: :yeahright: ouch......

Back in clinic next week for a proper talk with the diabetes specialist - we're going to see if diet is managing it or whether I have to go for insulin (fingers crossed that just tweaking my diet works - the dietician was very impressed with the diet but there are a couple of areas that are tweakable - swapping white bread for wholemeal completely for example)

That's pretty much it from me today.......

Evening all

I had a GTT last time but got the all clear so not sure if I'll have to have another one. I think it was after blood tests around 28 or 32 weeks...

My friend had twins at 29 weeks and they were 2.2 and 3.3lbs and they are both OK, nearly 18 months now and thriving after 8 weeks in hospital I think.

I've got mw tomorrow but just the usual I suppose (must remember my notes - if I can find them).

Peridot - Tom Cruise is completely bonkers though, did I read Katie was pg again or is that just pg brain on my part??

mrsdunny - I had a GTT last time, it also came back clear but they have said they want me to do the test again just in case this time. No signs of sugars to date or I'd have done one already, but if still nothing at my next MW appointment (28 weeks), then I'll have it then.

I missed one MW/GP appointment was with my GP as I hate one MW at my practice. Ended up seeing her last week and she was OK and told me to have a HB this time. I was a bit of an emotional wreck as I had just found out I was going to be having another boy and she was really good about it told me it was OK to be upset and it was better now then when he was born!

But now the next big thing is the birth in my mind! Oh and a 4D scan at some point need to book that!

was never any in mine either Red, yet I have still been diagnosed with it (possibly only mild case of course) Looking back over the symptoms I had with the boys, I suspect I may have had it with them too but it was never picked up due to not having glucose in urine.......
It can cause prem labour, so I would go back to be retested..... How come you didn't get the results back the same day? I did:puzzled:

Thanks for all the good wishes. Baby is lookng good. She was concerned that baby was small for dates but they insisted on using LMP rather than ov date to calculate so I am not worried at all. By LMP I am 21+1 and by ov I am 20+6 and baby measured at 20+5 so I am really really not concerned!

Only worry is that the placenta is totally over the cervix and she settled down to give me that chat about how it might not move and we need to be re-scanned to check and she was really shocked whne I said that I wasn't fussed. We were planning a section anyway.

Helcatt great news about you Pink one:ellie:

I think quite a few of us has got to go back for scan at 32 weeks, as placenta is covering cervix. Apparently it is very common and it will move in most cases. The way I look at it is that you can't do anything about it, so no point in worrying.

I have been so unhealthy today Mcdonalds for lunch and pizza for dinner:no: Must go back to healthy eating tomorrow.

Many congrats on your pink one Helcatt, you are fine dates wise if it matches your ov, I had the same with DS measuring 'small' the whole way last time but I knew I had ov'd late :loco: (he was also *lbs 3 when he was born  )

I'm another one with placenta covering cervix, there seem to be loads of us!! apparently its more common if you have had a previous c-section, thought that was interesting! Lotty - yes it just changes how they cut.

Kiki - I'm unsure re: the 3d - we have had loads of scans this time, so it seems rather wasteful, but then DS1 had one so I feel 'mean' not giving them the same

mrsd - sorry you've come across someone who's put you off your chosen name. TBH, I'd try not to let it bother you as in my view they will always be your little x, the fact you've met an unpleasant one won't change how your baby is one bit!

I do still like my name but you know how silly thinks start to effect your thinking... PP it's a G name that was at the top of the list and our last name is D too... Although if we went for it then I think it would be GGD.

I quite like Poppy but DH insisted that we couldn't use it because LO would get called Ploppy at school  . I'm not sure he's right but it's in his head now so won't be persuaded.

No 3d or 4d for us but I do get a scan at 37 weeks, not that we'll be able to see much by then I suppose.

My sister has just had one and they really enjoyed it, so it is probably me being silly.:loco:
peridot, I think you should have one just so we can see whether it is pink or blue:lol:

I am having another scan at 32 weeks.

Just weighed myself and I have put on 6 kilos (around 12 pounds I think) Is this a lot????

I know - I was thinking this.
Thing is, I have spoken to baby bond and they have said they are happy to rescan me for free in case they did get it wrong.
butttttttttttt I'm not sure whether to or not.
I kind've regret initially finding out the sex (well thinking I had  )
I found it a bit of an anti-climax in comparison to being told the sex at birth.
Afterwards there was part of me that thought - I wish I had just waited!
so when I had my 22 week one and now things are uncertain I think I actually prefer it!
Although I am convinced that at some point some one has spotted a willy on one of my scans  so I am more likely to be referring to the baby as a boy etc. but I think I like the "not-knowing" side of things as well!
bah, I don't know, I seem to change my mind every week!

I think 6kilos is a good average weight gain, I've put on about 20 pounds now!

Right!! A much better day so far today...DH got the kids up and did school run while I stayed in bed  I am now up but have been sat on the sofa eating chocolate animals with Beanie and gossiping on phone to best mate :teehee: theres loads of housework I could be doing but it can wait
There is a fun day in the local park so after nursery pick up I will take them there I think with a picnic- keeps them out of the house!!!Hwever this means that I need to go and purchase picnic stuff!
Have just put the bath on so will do that then go to shop then fetch them from nursery. *calm*

was never any in mine either Red, yet I have still been diagnosed with it (possibly only mild case of course) Looking back over the symptoms I had with the boys, I suspect I may have had it with them too but it was never picked up due to not having glucose in urine.......
It can cause prem labour, so I would go back to be retested..... How come you didn't get the results back the same day? I did:puzzled:

I'm taking my blood sugars at work and they're always around 3mmol which is normal.

My bloods were sent to the lab (pre and post GTT) and I was told my mw would get the results. They didn't do finger pricks at the time.

Congratulations on your pink bundle Helcatt :lurve:

You look positively blooming Shoppie. My bump looks flabby to me and extends up to under my boobs!

We plan on having a 4D scan  Didn't have one with Nathan. Must sort out a date actually. Quite difficult with DH being away so much. He's in London until tomorrow night now.

Nathan isn't too well. He vomited at nursery yesterday (all over the table during snack time ) then my childminder phoned at 1230 to say he'd been sick again and felt hot. I picked him up and we snuggled in bed and watched 'Underdog' He went to bed at 545pm and didn't wake until 630 this morning. He seems much brighter today but have kept him off school. He still has a slight temp of 37.6 but is very well and active in himself.

Glad you've the weather for a picnic PP...it's tiddling down here :-(

Peridot you are so patient (compared to me:smile: ) I would have made an appointment with babybond straight away for a re-scan and it would be free.

The good thing about knowing the gender now is that Sebastian is getting to know his little brother. He is already calling him by his name "Mathias" and is calling him his little brother:lurve:
I am such an impatient person, so I would simply not be able to wait to find out.
It must be nice with the surprise though:nod:

Redsquare, hope Nathan feels better soon.

I agree with this, but everyone's different aren't they?

Being honest I think its really unlikely they got it wrong Peridot, but if you don't want to know anymore, then you still have that little bit of doubt

Teddy has been really hard work today - constant whining and tantrumming = one of those days where you wonder what on earth you are doing having another!! :brainache:

I had bloods sent to lab as well but still got results back same day:puzzled: maybe it's cos it's a teaching hospital?

3's a bit low mind? Ah well - at least not high:smile:

I've been very scatty today & left my monitoring kit at work......
Am consoling myself by eating the last of the stilton out of the fridge - my reasoning is that the dietician said cheese was fine plus of course I can't test anyway........

Meant to be going to the Y11 prom tonight but really cant be bothered - just feeling absolutely wiped out & headachey.......

well it happened. A long time coming but I lost it today  Picked the littleys up from nursery, got home and realised I was shaky, and panicky and felt like I havent felt since I was in the grip of my worst PND. I rang DH immediately and just sobbed at him - Mali came in and said "whats wrong Mummy, why do you have drips" aka crying :lurve: and DH came straight home I also got a text from my friend saying "Are you ok DH said you were struggling" which was fab as it made me realise hes noticed IYSWIM so we all went to the park and he played with the kids LOADS while I sat and offloaded on friend and just chilled a bit. We then came home, I did the school run and he had the boys and vacuumed all downstairs, sorted all the piled up crap in the kitchen and just made the house livable. I cooked for us and afterschoolers and feel a LOT better  I have 3 more weeks of intense work and DH is taking next week off so I will have help and support so the light at the end of the tunnel is definately getting stronger.........hopefully I can stop moaning then. I hate moaning as Im still so chuffed Im pregnant but Im tired all the time and it just gets to me. I feel like such a sodding moaning minnie but hopefully in 3 weeks I can breathe a bit with just one client and no school runs!!

Terri there are some yicky bugs about apparently- Mali has a horrid snotty nose and hacking cough- I dont think this weird cant make up its mind weather is helping  hope you feel better soon

Excellent bumps ladies.

PP, glad you can see the light at the wnd of the tunnel. I have no idea how you ope. I am wondering if I can cope with mine plus one so how you do it............

:higgies: to you my love

we think we have decided on the name. Only donwside is that initials will be JJ (JMCJ if you do the whole lot) but I think we can cope with that.

something we both think really fits. Sorry calypso, not Joanna.

Shall I tell you? I am crap at keeping secrets.

josie (Josephine) mae

We may change our minds again but think we are settled on this one. We were the same with E, once we settled on something that we both liked, it didn't change. When we walked back after her scan, she was going to be Emily but over the next few days, we both felt it wasn't right and went for Eleanor and it stuck - even tough she is generally known as Ella

See, can't keep a secret.

Ooh, I love the name Josie  It would be my choice but my surname is very similar to Jarvis and Josie Jarvis really does sound  IMO. WEll, that and its a boy

mrs d - you do indeed look very blooming! :sunglasses:

PP - sorry you are feleing so stressed. I have no idea how you cope with 3 plus pregnancy, but then last imte I had no diea how I'd cope with a toddler as well as being pregnant, but here I am. I guess your fmaily evolves gradually, its not like you suddenly gfet 4 kids all at once (just imagine :brainache: ). I read your thread about BH adn am beginning to wonder if this is actually what is happening with my 'sore bump' :teehee: Thing is, I didn't even have a single contraction last time, so am utterly clueless!

23 weeks today, for some reason I have 'itchy feet' atm and really want my pregnancy to shift along a bit - I think I just want the baby to eb viable

OOoh, I love Josie - its very pretty and my best friend works with a girl called Josie who is super stunning so I always associate it with pretty people!!

If we're on name spilling I might spill my girls name too....I :heartbeat: it but its had mixed reactions from my friends so I'm a bit wary of telling people until she's actually here - plus I'm still not 100% its a girl so don't want to get too attached to 'her' if you see what I mean!!! Anyway, my girl name is.... Jemima! I like the idea of two 'J's for a boy and a girl, although if it turns out to be a boy we won't have another J!

I posted some bump pics in the other thread - I feel huge already and I'm only 25wks (well tomorrow)!

I'm off to a gig tonight with OH and his mate to see a band I've not seen before so that should be fun, I think I may even treat myself to a couple of nice cold pints of shandy - I'm crazy me!!! :teehee:!!!

Have a good weekend all!!

p.s. Middle name with be Elizabeth x

Laura - one of Teddy's peers through NCT is a Jemima! I will admit that on first hearing it all I could think of was 'puddleduck', but it is a really lovely name, and like any other name any other connotations you might have soon disappear once you know a little baby called that.

Though I'm sorry, if any of you call your child Indigo I will not get over it :happyno:

Arrrhhhh I was just about to say that I am about to call my little man Indigo what's wrong with it??

I am not really but I do like it as a name!!

I am loving Jemima and Josepine!

Isn't it funny how we associate names I thought of the doll in Playschool with Jemima she was a lovely doll though.

Josie I thought of the very funny comedian Josie Lawrence!

Still haven't got a name although Frazer is about the only name we agree on but it may be a middle name.

I am loving Angus Frazer DH doesn't like Angus!

I think it would be cool cos Dexter and Angus are breeds of cow and Jensen and Frazer are types of car. So matchy matchy but only if you have a knowledge of cows and cars!!

Its a colour, it sounds like a girls name and it would be shortened to Indi which we are NO WAY cool enough to get away with

I am liking both Angus and Frazer

I'm not sharing my name
