I need help on choosing some house plants... I want some for my room at my mums to make it more homely... problem is I seem to manage to kill any plants I buy

So the criteria needs to be:

*they need to be easy to look after and not high maintenance, if they are not watered regularly they won't die iyswim (I am so crap... even if its in front of me all dya I will forget to water it  )
*they need to be smallish as I don't have a large room
*they need to be cheap

I hope you can help!

Jamtart, go for spider plants as they are pretty indestructible!! Not the most pretty of plants but easy to look after and almost impossible to kill.

I like Peace Lilies - have a couple in my home - but they do need to be watered weekly. They are good feng shui plants as they get rid of negative energy from electrical objects apparently :loco:

Thanks wilma. I think I can cope with weekly watering and I like the idea of the Peace Lilies. I had a huge plant once that was a lily something or other and I left that for 4 weeks unwatered when I went away and it was fine!!!

I might have a look this weekend!

Peace lilies are great. I have one I gave to my gran 5 years ago and it's still going strong and I'm crap with plants.

I like miniature cacti - you hardly ever need to water them, and there are some really funky ones out there.

You know scrobble, my brother always had cacti too (hes a gardener so I guess I should ask him  )... I might get some and I might steal the Aloe Vera plant in my room at my mums too :teehee:

I like money plants a lot. They don't need much looking after at all, I water maybe a couple of times a month in the summer and much less in winter. Also once you have one, you can grow more just by snapping off a leaf and bunging it in some soil.
