Any ideas??? :help:
Our old Electrolux hasn't worked properly for years  and someone at work was selling their mum's Dyson for £25, so I bought it. Only downside is, she must have/have had a dog, because as soon as you turn it on it REEKS of dog :yuck: :zombie: I've emptied the cylinder bit, washed it (the stench was so strong, seriously made me feel ill - on the upside though we now know we're definitely never getting a dog  ), left it to soak with some degreaser in, took the rest of it outside and banged it/shook it to get rid of as much dust as possible from inside. It still smells :hissyfit:
I know you used to be able to get talcum powder type stuff to put inside vacuum cleaner bags to make them smell nice (Febreze? Shake 'n' Vac? :puzzled: ), would that work with a bagless? Anyone have ANY ideas how to get rid of the smell? I'm guessing it will just fade over time as the thing is used, but I don't REALLY want to stink my house out every week for however long if I don't have to
