I have just worked out that since Xander went to nursery a year ago between us (mainly him) we have been ill over 23 times  and that is not counting Mr S - just Xander and me :-( So, roll on summer to get all this out of the way and then by next winter he'll be 2 and his immune system should be properly developed.

I honestly cannot deal with any more illness for a while. That's nearly once every 2 weeks for a year - no wonder I'm shattered all the time :laff:

This is a topic close to my heart at the minute Spritzer.

Like you, I work and D is at the nursery since he began there have been trickles of illness and then things like conjunctivitus (where he can't go to nursery) we have 'shared' the vast majority of these illnesses.

At the moment Dylan is ill with this cold/vomiting thing going around, less that a week ago he has an ear infection. It feels like he has been permanently ill for over 3 weeks, but this time he is listless and not walking around at all.

The doctor said to me that by this time next year he probably won't get anything but in the meantime we are still paying for all those days he isn't at nursery and my work are just getting a bit more cross with me everytime I have to take unexpected time off.

It feels like they are always ill when they are at nursery it's crazy, maybe we can both have a year off next year 8)

It's just as bad when they start primary school. I have been ill 10 times since Z started from catching his freebie bugs. He's had about 6 weeks off sick too.

I don't remember being so ill when I was litte, are there more germs or something?

I know exactly what you mean. Me and Dh have discussed the fact that we have never been so ill. Even at the moment we all have stinking cold/flu type thing and for the second time it has gone to my chest (I have never suffered with coughs before at all). As MMM says the added problem is the sick leave and the paying the nursery even though it was the goddamned nursery that gave em the bug in the first place. Does their immunity get better then? I hope so :)

Hi MMM/PB, Jules and AG

Well, I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel as my friend told me her little girl got everything up until 2 and now is hardly ever ill. Also, nursery told me that the babies and toddlers room is always riddled with something or other but the next rooms up are much healthier - I guess cos the kids have their immunity sorted.

If they don't get it now then they'll just get it at school like AGs Z so it is inevitable one way or another.

P.S. finding it quite a stretch working out who everyone is over here! Did think about a name change but decided it would make my brain hurt :laff:

But I am exactly the same, tempted as I was to change :nellie: sorry just wanted to use that smiley.

Lets hope they all get better soon or you will see the following in the chemist:

We had exactly the same problem when Daniel started at nursery. That winter we were both constanly ill (or it seemed like it at the time  ) for 3 or 4 months. This year, I'm pleased to say it's been much better. Our paediatrician told us that we would all get everything going the first year, but that it's actually very good for their immunity for the future.

We got all this to come yet.
Weve been very good to date in that J hasn't been ill, except for one minor cold and a 24 hour sickness a few weeks back.
Will be interesting to see how he fares once he starts nursery.

My LO is nearly 3 and had everything going when he started nursery at 8 months, but now rarely gets anything- although if he does it hits us like a tonne of bricks for weeks on end.

The last lot luckily was october last year and the only reason I can think of is that his immune system has improved after catching so much in the ealry stages.

Although maybe not- maybe he just moves to much to catch anything !! :laff:
