Toys - I have a playroom thank god where I just chuck everything in and shut the door. I do have loads of the collapsible crates from Tesco - £2 a pop which are great :thumb: Linky thing (http://direct.tesco.com/q/N.1999352/Nr.99.aspx)
CD storage, you can't beat IKEA for Book, DVD andCD storage. Try the Benno/Billy range http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/07305310
General clutter just gets moved around till it REALLY pisses me off and then most of it gets binned

cd and dvds we have somefloating shelves, then underthose i have four clear plastic storage boxes where the oys are sorted in (sort of) categories, so arty/crafty things in one box, jigsaws building blocks etc in wnother and so on, so it is all in one corner of the room then themajority of isobels books are on bookshelf in her room. We also have a cupbpad under teh tv that on on side houses the sky box and playstation then other our paperwork etc.

Also, put your TV on something like this (http://www.pier.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=71&products_id=10066) or have it as a coffee table with storage in it. Invaluable for sweeping crap into when people come round :teehee:
Toys?
In a massive box behind the settee, and some in drawers in his room.
CDs/DVDs?
In a thin cupboard we have in the living room. But I'm about to box them all up and put them away somewhere as we never use thems ince everything is on the computer.
Books?
Book case in hall.
General junk?
Things that get used daily have homes generally in theroom they are used. Anything else is put away in cupboards. We have a big hall cupboard and have put another level in it to give us double the space.
all the other shit that seems to just gather???
None, I don't have room for it. If I want to keeo something I find a home for it, otherwise its in the bin.

I have a lovely old chest in the living room which is full of toy's and I am a bit of a tidy freak so I have plastic boxes with art stuff in one box, cars in other etc  but it works.
My house is tiny.
We're lucky that we have a big conservatory where all the toys can get shoved. We even put Ava's wardrobe in there to try and keep it tidy. She does seem to have a growing pile of other toys in the lounge atm though!
CD's are all on the PC, DVD's are in the drawer under the TV. Books are all in boxes apart from the nice looking ones that fit in the side of the coffee table. Ava's books are all on her shelves in her room but she'll probably get one of those kids book tidy things for Christmas and that'll go in the conservatory.
General crap is something we've yet to get on top of! Magazines are overflowing in the magazine rack, bills are here there and everywhere. In fact I might tidy up today lol.

Our place is small, ds has most of his toys in his bedroom although that is really small under his bed in toyboxes, he has a midsleeper for this reason to store stuff. a couple of toy boxes in room behind sofa.
Dvds, videos, my books, playstation games, etc on shelves in room we have 8 x 6ft shelves for this stuff else we'd have no where at all for them.
ds books on a bookshelf in room
other crap just all over the place lol really need to de clutter am working on the kitchen today to get rid of stuff in cupboards as only got 1 double unit and it's overflowing in there with tins/pans etc so needs to be done.
We put all of our cds and dvds into those storage notebooks and tossed the boxes. Only problem is we need another notebook/folder or two so we still have some in cases. They take up sooooo much less space now, and it's easier to flick through the pages of the folder than to hunt for them how we had them all stacked before.
I have no solution for all of the other sh1te, sorry. :teehee:

CDs get stored in the eaves in the loft. We have a music streamer so we put them all on the pc and it acts as a server for them :thumb:
DVD's are in the drawers under the stereo unit and on an IKEA tower.
Books- I try not to keep books as I rarely re read stuff anyway so get rid as soon as I've done with them. All our reference books etc for work are on an IKEA bookshelf in the office. I have a smaller bookshelf in the lounge that has childrens books on it.
Toys- bit of a bug bear as I've just had to give up my beautiful playroom  , and as you can imagine I have the equivalent amount of toys to Hamleys because of my job  . I have taken posession of the shed in the garden, the understairs cupboard and the sideboard and they get stored in there. My girls toys are in their bedrooms as I hate having them in the lounge when I'm not working.
We don't have much other clutter tbh as I have been really ruthless lately and chuck a load of stuff away. If it doesn't get used for 3months in this house it gets binned :teehee:
