View Full Version : Recycling mattresses?

I've just ordered a new cot mattress and moses basket mattress for my new baby. This means I'm left to dispose of the old two.

The cot mattress is a sprung mattress and I wondered if there was a way I could recycle this rather than just taking it down the tip. Any suggestions?

I don't know what the moses basket mattress is made from - it's just a bog standard pram/basket mattress.

Thanks a lot,

Contact your local dog rescue centre.

There was a plea for old mattresses on our Freecycle a while ago as they use them for the dogs to sleep on. Thats where mine went :thumb:

Thanks a lot Goldilocks, I'll be ringing the local dog's trust this morning.

I'll certainly feel a lot better if it can be of some use - rather than just throwing it away.

Just to say my local dog's trust are very happy to accept the mattress and I'll be taking it up there tomorrow.

Aww, I hope it makes them a bit more comfortable.
