View Full Version : What's your domestic weakness?
Mine is sweeping the floor - which really should be done every day, but is actually done Weds/Fri and when the crumbs look a bit OTT .
I mean I DO do it, but it's a real :sigh: effort for me for some odd reason.
Whereas I'm happy to polish the bench (granite worktop) about 6 times a day with spray eco cleaner, a blue E cloth and the yellow glass E cloth :loco:.
What is your domestic downfall?

Washing up, I hate it! Luckily since my mum has moved in she does it. I used to leave it for as long as possible then do a big wash up(which I know is bad:zombie: )
I'll happily hoover all day though.

Mine is sweeping the floor too and as our whole downstairs is either wooden or tiled floors I really should make an effort more often.
Hate doing the granite worktops too but might give it a go a la Minky.
Could happily wash all day though. Not very eco friendly I know
Oh god all of it! My house is a sh!t tip till it's dangerous before I roll my sleeves up! There are just so many better things to do with my time! But if I HAD to pick, it would be cleaning the floors. Or the ironing. I hate both.

everything
I used to love ironing, but gave it up years ago (pre-children) which is probably a good thing because if I had to iron the amount of clothes we have in this house now it would no longer be something I like!!
Actually, I don't mind cleaning the bathroom :loco: I like it when it's all sparkly!

I feel like varnishing it so it's more wipeable iykwim.... :scratchchin:

Today, after being up a ladder for most of it, I hate decorating, particularly the preparation part - sanding, washing etc. :zombie:

As I've just said on my spring cleaning thread my weakness is putting the washing away once it's washed. I can sit for ages with basketfuls of clean washing for ages before I deal with them  I'm also dreadful for putting things away and end up with little piles of things all round the house. So general tidying I guess is my downfall.
I'm another one who doesn't mind cleaning the bathroom as it's lovely to have a shiny sink

Putting washing away. I fling half of it into the ironing basket for DH and get dressed out of the other half so it never even makes it into the drawers half the time

Err pretty much all of it but I think the situation with 'fresh bedlinen' (or lack of it ) is particularly bad. I mean I love love love fresh sheets, duvet cover (even though I don't do your weird 'extra sheet under the duvet cover' madness :teehee:) but it's a rare event that I actually get to appreciate them. The sheer faff of getting it all back on the bed - especially the freakin duvet cover - well it's too much for me :drama:. I need a maid or something.

These days, hoovering. I managed to buy the heaviest, hottest (God it belts out some hot air!) hoover in the world and I hate getting it out and always end up feeling achy and tired afterwards.

Dusting - it's just so pointless - you do it then 5 mins later the sun shines on something and you can see dust again!
The bathroom, I hate cleaning any of it, so boring and it always ends up smeary when I do it :sigh: Thankfully my lovely cleaner does it once a week and I just use wipes in between

The top of the cooker. It's an 8 ring gas one and a total pita to clean as you have to deal with so many parts, so it hardly ever gets done until it's totally filthy
Thankfully the big metal grid thingies that the pans sit on above the gas (what on earth are they called?!) sort of camouflage it a bit.
I've just done it today and feel all saint-like now!

Hanging all the washing to dry. Over several airers because we don't have a tumble dryer. What a total and utter bore and a waste of my life. Total drudgery.

Tidying up. The place looks so cluttered and messy atm. I don't like the place we're in at all though, and I find it hard to get enthusiastic about housework on a house I don't like. We're hoping to buy soon - hopefully I will get my housework mojo back then.

:laff:
you see Woolly, THAT'S EXACTLY why I have a top sheet! Then the duvet cover gets changed every few months and there's no drama - clean sheets every week for that lovely fresh sheet feeling, with no faff. I HATE changing my duvet cover (and have to have it professionally pressed anyway ) and just cnba doing it every week.
Try it, you might like it  :laff:
Either that or get a maid. :sunglasses:
:teehee:
I hate washing the floors. Not good when you consider its all wood or tile

Is it a nightmare big pleated sort of thing then? I have a superking sized bed but shove the cover on and iron it on the bed. (the underneath can stay wrinkly!)

HHmm, I am trying to think hard here, as to what I hate the very most.
Oh yes, cleaning the hob.
We have a ceramic hob with gas cooker rings on it, and to clean it you have to remove all the rings, and they're all in 3 parts, and then they have to be washed and scrubbed individually, as stuff spill on them.
OMG cleaning our hob takes AGES.
I leave it completely to the cleaner, so sometimes if she doens't come one week, I don't touch it for 2 weeks- gross or what.
Ok I might wipe off any rice or pasta spilt, but that's it.
I can deal with other stuff, although I don't do it if I am honest- I just count the days down til the cleaner comes:oops:
Oh just remembered, I DO sweep the kitchen floor everyday, as I HATE walking on crunchy stuff, like salt, rice grain, crumbs etc..

Washing up and taking out the bin. Dh does those jobs and I'll happily let it pile up all week ready for him to do at the weekend (we have a dishwasher btw - i'm not that manky  It's just odd bits here and there.)

housework in general is my weak point
Actually it is vacuuming that I really hate, and cleaning the oven - so much so that I try to get someone else to do it for me!
