Says the lady in her DH's hooded top horrid trackie bottoms, Red, blue, green and orange stripey socks and pink ballet pumps. Though in my defence I had to pop outside to the shed and it's cold out there. I look silly

um when I was 13 I went through a phase of wearing Doc Marten boots, customised, with stripey purple and black tights to school  Might look okay on some people but on me

I soon passed that phase and used to wear white denim hotpants and cropped top to school

I had the Doc Martens too, with beads on the front and a short skirt. It was against uniform regs and I used to get told off all the while. Soon after everyone else was wearing them too

I'm sure white hotpants weren't part of the uniform either :P

One of the worst things (and there's plenty) was leaving the house reeking of The Body Shop's strawberry oil. (do you remember the circular island in the middle of the shops with dozens of seethrough bottles wih different scented oils?)

How on earth did i think that was sexy?

ETA: Mini black hot pants, worn in the winter with tights. With my legs

:wik: I was more of a White Musk girl myself. I remember all those bottles so well.

Oh and black hotpants and black tights - I feel your pain.

Well I was a teenager in the 80's so you can imagine   Plenty of fluorescent pink socks and scarf in my hair (which was long and curly and I looked like Bonnie Langford, nice  )

I also went thru a phase of very very short skirts with hold up stockings, can I also point out I was very thin and would not been seen dead in something like that now, oh and I am also too old :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff:

Ha! I, too, was a teenager in the 1980s. Though, strangely, I don't have many photos - it was in the days when cameras weren't so common - I don't mean nobody had them, just you didn't take one everywhere like you do these days. But I can describe it - One particularly fine outfit was a white man's shirt, black tie (my grandfather's "funerals" tie, I don't think he ever worked out where it went!) long, long red pencil skirt with a big split up the back, black seamed stockings and white boxers' boots. And a ginger flattop with tramlines. Aaaaah, those were the days!

Ahh there are so many, another 80's gal

There was the very orange orange silk knee lenght gathered skirt with a matching long shirt.
Or maybe the burgandy all in one bolier suit with a hand knitted sleeveless cardi. There was also a black bomer jacket with a balck hat a la Micheal Jackson. Ohh yeah i was cool :laff:
And the height of fashion in school, thick black tights with wite ankle socks.
I am sure there are many more I will go and dig my old photos out to remind me.

I had absolutely no fashion sense as a teen.

I frequently wore chunky sandals with tights or socks  . I wore coloured knickers with white trousers. I wore leggings. I wore black lipstick. I wore a tartan mini skirt that didn't quite cover my arse with a long red pvc coat. I could probably spend all night typing out a list :typing:

Thankfully my sense of style has improved. I never look funky like Kate Moss but I usually manage to look fairly smart and 'together'.

I had an emerald green joe bloggs shell suit and I thought I was the dogs whatsits

I wore dewberry perfume from the body shop and one christmas I was given a cheaper versionm of it that actually turned your neck purple when youm sprayed it on

I had an all in one jumpsuit that I loved.

I was also a huge bros fan so had the grolsch bottle tops on my shoes and also a white shirt with big red starts on that i bought from topman.

Ill get my coat..........................

I was a grunge kid in my teens/ at Uni. So I loved wearing all sorts of bizarre things and I thought I looked the Dogs bollox. More likely I just looked like a dog!

I particularly liked my German army boots teamed with tights, army vest, over the knee stripy socks, and age 13 miniskirt!

I also used to layer nighties over some black leggings- umm nice. And I also had a coat which was made out of a ragrug in rainbow colours- yuck. Thank god my boyfriend (now OH) persuaded me to ditch that particular coat.

Are we the same person Sunshine69  I was a grunge kid in my teens/ uni years too and did a fair bit of my shopping in army surplus stores.

I also used to have an extensive collection of band t-shirts which I thought were the epitome of cool and identified me as having very discerning taste in music   Particularly fond of my Mudhoney one, which I think I nicked off a boyfriend. I also desperately wanted dreadlocks, but couldn't handle not washing my hair

lol Polkadot girl! Shame I dont really have any photos of that period as I could do with a laugh.

yes Mudhoney is suitably grungy as a Tshirt! I didnt really have many band tshirts although I loved my Levellers Tshirts and my autographed They Might be Giants shirt.

I have to say I did really enjoy getting "dressed up" to go out every day- now I just live in the same ols tshirts, jeans and trainers. And I just dont do girly dressing up!

ETA I wanted dreds too but like you they were a bit too dirty looking- one of the bloked I lived with had them and when he shaved them off we found fleas in them- bleurgh! I did have pink hair for a while which I thought was v classy- from those hippy shops in a jar!
