At the moment I work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Niamh is in private nursery every tuesday and every other Wednesday. Every Monday she's with my MIL, and every other Wednesday she's with my mum.
Nursery have told me that her funded sessions (we get 15 hours - 5 x 3hrs) have to be taken over 3 days. I just can't get my head round how to do it. I'd like her to have at least one session at the local nursery too, as that's where she'll go to school, but obviously it's school hours there and I can't fit that in with my job.
I thought today that I could find a childminder to have her in the afternoons and just send her to the local nursery every morning. But I reckon that'd work out more than I'm paying for private nursery now, and what would I do in the school holidays?
:puzzled:
I know it makes your :brainache: doesn't it.
I used to work 3 days and couldnt work it in with the non private nursery so ended up having her go to private nursery for three days and paid the difference. I think we got just short of £40 a week in grant and the three days fees amounted to about £80 so we paid £40 The killer came in the school holiday when there was no grant though!

You don't have to use all 15hrs though surely if you don't want to :puzzled: . I would imagine that its only if you want all 15 it has to be spread over 3 days.
If you used a c/m you could also send her there in the hols

It never occurred to me there'd be no grant in the holidays, I just thought about having nowhere to send her!
I REALLY need to be looking at reducing what we pay out though, rather than increasing it. Seems I might not be able to do that after all...:ohno:

ps, I of course meant determined, not determinted:lol:
How about this:
2 sessions every Tuesday (1 morning, 1 afternoon)
2 sessions every Wednesday (1 morning , 1 afternoon). Your mum could decide whether to have her all day, or just the afternoon or whatever. Or you could do this with the Monday/MIL instead.
1 session left - either Thurs or Fri at the local nursery, when you can drop her off yourself.
That way you are maximising your financial benefit from the sessions.
Not very helpful - but I'm not sure you'll be able to mix and match the private and state nursery places, as whichever one you decide to send N to will get her govt funding.
Although it would be nice if you could find a way round it so she could spend some time at the school before she starts full time. If not though she won't be the only new one starting school without have been to the Nursery and I'm sure she will be fine.
Dunno about you, but I've found this whole school thing (we don't have State Nurseries here so it is pre-schools for us) very stressful indeed. God knows what I'll be like when it actually comes to sending her!!!

I currently use our funding at 2 different places.
DD does all day on a Monday and Tuesday at a private nursery using 4 of her sessions. It works out she gets £16 odd a day off. Each session is worth £8 something
And then
9-12pm at a pre school using the remaining 5th session which is totally free.
Oh Mrs Chu I didn't think you could do that. Cool. It opens up another option for me.
