Not sure if this should be in here... but heyhoo I'm sure it won't get moved like in HB

I need some help choosing a surname for the baby... I want mine and the ex's surname (dunno why but mainly to keep a link and to p!ss him off :o  )

Ok so shall I have Fraser-Chamberlain (mine-his) or Chamberlain-Fraser (his-mine) This is for the birth certificate only and the Chamberlain bit will prob not get used irl.

Kenidee's is going to be Fraser-Brownbill (mine-exhubbys) once I change my name... so maybe the baby's should be in the same format with Fraser first??? :?:

Thanks you lovely Damsels :D :D :D

i would put your surname first, its a lovely one :) that way if it gets shortenened for whatever reason then they will always have your name as opposed to your exes.

Fraser-chamberlain sounds very sophisticated!

Yes I agree - Fraser first! Sounds lovely and if they do get shortened then then you will all be Fraser to avoid any complications NOT that there is anything wrong with having different names I might add!

Thanks girls... I posted on HB too and some of them who have double barreled names say they get shorted to the last name :? hmm

I have been thinking and think Chamberlain-Fraser rolls off the tongue easier...

hmmm will do some more thinking lol :D maybe I will ask the ex

keep the suggestions coming :D

I would go for FC too because if you are going to drop C from everyday use then her full name will still be in order IYSWIM ie. baby F-C becomes baby F & it doesn't sound any different or confusing :?

why do they have to be double barreled?
Logan *my maiden name* Kerr

We weren't married when he was born, so did it this way.

From what I've seen when a name is shortened it's usually the last name used, but maybe that is different over here?

Hi MG!

Kenidee's had my maiden name as her middle name as I wasnt married and we never used it, and as I am changing back to my maiden name, she asked if she could have both name so I am just going to insert a hyphen!

My baby won't know its dad as he is a tw@t (totally his choice not mine) but I want to have his surname there so the baby will know who he/she is iyswim

I always thought it was the last name used too... hence Kenidee being Fraser-Brownbill... I also think Chamberlain-Fraser sounds better ... hmm I have texted ex's mum to ask her what she thinks too... will let you know if I hear anything

My little brother has my step mums maiden name within his name cause they didnt want to double barrel it.

His name is OLIVER GEORGE *maiden name* *dads surname*

TBH her maiden name is rather like a boys name, she is pg again atm, and due in September and will do the same regardless of whether #2 is a boy or a girl!

Difficult decision, I do think that if you double barrel a name, it sounds better with the names with more syllables first. That said I think, if it were me, I'd want my own surname first!!
