Get a second opinion from another doctor at the surgery. P had reflux which was firstly diagnosed by my HV and then I saw the GP who prescribed gaviscon. She grew out of it and was fine.

Secondly I would find out what the complaints procedure is at your surgery (practice manager should be able to tell you) and complain. A mother's instinct is sometimes far more in tune with what's wrong with their own child than a doctor who sees the child for 5 minutes IMHO.

Hope you get it sorted.

I had this problem with ds. I kept taking him to the doctor because it was obvious he was in lot of pain and she kept telling me he was just being capricious (a 3-month old baby capricious  ) :-( He was waking up every hour or two throughout the night in pain.

This went on for over 4 months until I eventually found a very good paediatrician who immediately diagnosed silent reflux and put him on Gaviscon.

Follow your instincts - they are right. Can you take her to another doctor?

Good luck

PS Your doc is a :doughnuts:

thanks i took her back to HV earlier she said she needs her milk changing again so they have given her a lighter milk to stop it causing stress to the reflux...or summat like that and colief drops to reduce the lactose in the milk ... now why couldnt the dr do that..thats what he's there for... i feel so sorry for her she is hungry but screams when i try feeding her HV said leave her on this stuff for 3 days and see how she is there should be an improvement..if not its back for gaviscon..thanks for reply...yeh my dr is a :doughnuts: :doughnuts: also a

Sorry to hear you had a crap time with your Dr :-(

If there have been problems before and you're concerned it may be worth a letter to the practice manager. Every practice will have a complaints proceedure and usually it should be addressed to the manager. Most practises would want to know if there is a problem and it's usually dealt with in house.

Hope Amy is better soon
